Married at 19 (both of us) and now at 54 I don't understand how she can just walk away. I know I was not the perfect husband and I also know from counseling that this is not spur of the moment for her. She has been planning this for years it just feels sudden to me.

Looking back I can see there were issues, the old hind sight being 20 20 and all but I never imagined it was this bad in her mind.

The divorce is not ugly and she is not taking me to the cleaners so I know that at least in that part I am better off than most of the men here. I had been getting better until I actually saw the divorce papers last week. All was the way she said it would be not surprises. What I was not expecting or didn't even think about was she is requesting her maiden name back. She has also been 2/3 of her life with my name. I know this should not bother me like it is, but it is.

While I am getting better (not spending my time in a heap on the floor) I still feel like a major body part is being violently ripped from me and there is this gaping wound that might never heal.

I am going to counseling and I start divorce care next week so I am trying to take the right steps for healing, I just needed to get this off my chest.

Thanks for listening.
