I suspect they are still losing money.

Bumble has not yet made a profit.

-Men can be shadow banned without even knowing so they still take money from you and do not show you appropriate dates. A ban without telling you.

-Men can be be banned if a woman thinks a message is creepy.

-Men can be banned if they date too many times or if they like too many profiles.

It is a proudly feminist dating site and I cannot imagine why any male would ever sign up.

People are realizing that dating apps suck and have ruined the dating market. Yeah, they've helped some people find love but the price paid is that the rest of the heterosexual population is caught in an endless loop of speed-dating where shitty, low effort people win and decent people become frustrated and lose.

Tinder is just as bad. Hinge is still early along enough in its adoption cycle that it still has decent people, they aren't fucking with the algorithms and pushing monetization too much, and isn't completely infested by the dregs of society, but it won't take long for it to die as well.

I once used Bumble. The thing that struck me as odd was that women would have to initiate the conversation. This I assume was to keep a bunch of unwanted messages to fill up thier inboxes. But the odd part was many women would initiate the conversation by saying "hi" but when I responded they wouldn't say anything. I believe that they were selecting me to message to keep on the back burner while they pursued their first choices. So I made a rule on my profile. If a woman initiate a conversation with me and doesn't respond within a day, I would unmatch them. Sadly most women never bothered reading my profile anyway, they just message me first then read later I guess, so they never saw that rule. I eventually deleted bumble after I met a woman on there at a restaurant and her husband showed up to confront her infidelity. Luckily he was pretty cool with me as he understood I didn't do anything wrong.

The more interesting thing to me is how CEOs are able to easily jump from job to job. The company is tanking under your leadership, but you still get to be the executive board's chair. You're already CEO @ Slack, yet you have time to be CEO of an entirely different company?! Almost like it's not that hard of a job and they aren't worth the millions they're paid...

A few years ago, when I got hired at previous job, they were under an SEC investigation due to financial shenanigans by a former CEO. In the 2 years I worked there, this guy had gone onto become CEO of 3 other companies and seemingly escaped the SEC unscathed.

I don't get how people ever became ok with dating apps. It's the most obvious gamification of attention and time.

Dating websites used to be something you could search and decide who might be a good match for you. Meaning you would already eliminate 50%+ of people just from search criteria. Then if there was nobody worth dating you just came back in a few week.

The swiping apps don't make any sense as a method for combing through thousands of people. That's about as slow as you could do it. I don't get how everyone accepted this as an option. It doesn't really serve anyone well except the most attractive women who want attention first and foremost.

A run a YouTube channel where I review dating apps, and just rant on the experiences in general. I often bring up Bumble, and the crazy prices. I feel like dating apps would fair much much better by lowering prices. Even offering 1 week subscriptions for say 4.99?

An example of the extreme would be like Eharmony. It has recurring payments on automatically, and you either have to sign up for a long membership, or pay a crazy amount for a shorter one. It's also heavily catered to men to pay, and alot of the "features" are bologna. One I see often is "you get more likes" and no explanation on this. I tried Tinder gold once, and got matches 4000kms away. Thanks Tinder!

I invested in bumble shortly after it came out. I have a lot of experience with online dating, back to lava life in 2004, until I met my wife on it in 2016. I thought, “oh, this system of ‘women messaging first’ is the winning formula! It resolves a major issue women face with getting too many messages, which they all complain about.” Additionally, I thought, almost every woman I’ve ever been with (around 25, for context) initiated things. Every one of my attempts has failed except maybe one or two. It’s the only way it ever worked for me is women signalling me it was okay to go for them. I’m a 7 to 7.5/10 when I’m in shape, also for reference.

Turns out I didn’t factor in some other factors. Our society is in sharp decline due to corrupt elites, and the war between men and women is attributable to the imbalanced incentives, penalties, and privileges that the corrupt and clueless elites and social justice industries have doled out unequally to men and women.

•Of all dateable single women in your age and SMV bracket, how many are on Bumble? 3%? 6%?

•The proportion of the decent/genuine/dateable women ON Bumble is what, 10% of the group? I don’t mean the most attractive. I mean sufficiently attractive, and also being good to be around.

•The proportion of those women who are brave enough to message first is at best, what, 60%? And most are wired to aim high, regardless of character. I don’t think it’s a character issue to gravitate toward the more attractive of the opposite sex. It’s like buying the premium version of something on sale that you’d normally afford only the regular version of. Of course when a SMV4 lady goes for the SMV9.8 man, she gets only disappointment from being P’d and D’d.

So it’s actually a tiny subset of a subset of a subset of good women on Bumble. There is a large population, large, of men who are decent guys who would like nothing more than to be good, traditional providers and family men, or even a more modern lifestyle that is grounded in respect and service, adventure, and collaboration. Most of the guys here are like that. Where is the group of women who are more than happy to hold up their traditional roles of providing love and compassion and care and try to have a positive attitude? Not on FDS.

There are other factors here, but all this is to say my $BMBL is down 82%.

I wouldn't take too much of a victory lap if you are hoping this is a sign of dating improving. Inflation and the end of low interest care free borrowing to fuel growth in tech are over, and businesses all over silicon valley are suffering as a result.

Only ever used a dating app once and never again. It was hinge. We went to a preserve and the date was going great. Then he wanted continue, yay right. Not yay because he said let’s go to Starbucks…you mean where people can watch us? I went from chatting and laughing to staring at him silently💀

It was really awkward so I looked down and saw my hands were slightly bigger then his…I think you see where this is going💀

In an attempt to make it less awkward I said “oh look your hands are smaller then mine isn’t that neat!” 😭😭😭 I’ve never been more ashamed in my life, he looked so hurt and hid his hands.

And of course my attempt to make it better made it worse and I said “oh no you have nice hands. They are very pretty”😭 who tells a man his hands are pretty! I can easily compliment a stranger, but everything goes out the window when I am on a date apparently. He was also uncomfortable before I said all of that too because I was taller then him.
