I married a woman half her age and weight. They will likely never meet. No need or reason. I don't mention her unless there is real reason to. She's seen her once, in court.

The problem is that you are thinking through this like a rational person, and you are dealing with the mind of a completely irrational person.

Mine didn’t same. The night before she finally moved out she was crying. I was with her for 20 years and felt bad- even though she cheated and destroyed our marriage and family. I tried to console her and she said to get away. No problem, I did. Later that night she came to me and asked if we should talk. I calmly said there was nothing left to talk about, I just didn’t want to see her sad. She turned it around and started screaming at me that she was disgusted by the amount of women I’ve slept with since I served her papers and legally separated. I told her that I wasn’t sleeping around (I’m not- I’ve had dates and was upfront about it). I let her go in for a bit. Then I calmly said that it was none of her business. That she had no right to say anything when she is the one that was sleeping with someone for over a year while I was still happily married to her. She started flipping out. I left.

They are narcissists. They will spin anything they can against you to protect themselves and how they are perceived by others. I truly hope mine gets the help she needs and goes on to live a good life. Just not with me. Since then I have gone 100% no contact with her. Our son had to have an emergency surgery a few weeks ago (everything went great and he’s almost 100%). I didn’t say a word to her. I couldn’t even console her when she was crying. I hated myself for it, but I knew I couldn’t cross that border at this time. Someday- maybe?

I mean, people are going to be who they are. If you’re a miserable person prior, you’ll probably be pretty miserable after! And in your case, you seem like a pretty happy person, so you’ve done what you need to do to keep the peace in the family & lo & behold you’re happy bc your kids are still around AND you get some time to yourself to find someone wonderful to spend your life with!

Many women claim they are happy after divorce but truth is they are only happy if they know the ex is unhappy or give the perception of being unhappy because the ex husband is not in another relationship.

Women will never be happy because they are confused to what happiness is or means.

From day one, the entire marriage is gauged on a happiness barometer. Men spend 80-90% of their time in marriage trying to please and keep wife and kids happy.

80% of divorces are initiated by unhappy women. Right there that appears to me an indication of an intrinsic trait that cannot logically be just coincidence.

This dysfunctional system that allows divorce to be utilized as a weapon against men makes it easy to project intrinsic-lead pattern of unhappiness as being the fault of the man without question or retort.

If U.S. suddenly adopted the Chinese divorce method system, to where a woman gets nothing if she divorces her husband, even if kids are involved, almost guaranteed divorce rates here would plummet to unimaginable, unforeseen lows.

Same boat, except I don't care what she's up to. When I'm having a great time, she sends the kids over. We have 50/50. We communicate via WA because it's the easiest. Mine got all her plastic work done before the divorce butt now looks run down because she actually has to take care of the children now. I don't think she's perplexed but also views you as hers still. Women want what other women want. She is obviously narcissistic and the best way is to approach everything with her emotionless. Don't bite. You got this!

Ambivalence or literally wanting her to be happy is the way. Why? Because it makes YOUR life even more pleasant. Not recommending walking on eggshells, rather saying consider YOURSELF more and the aforementioned goal with every interaction.

If you got kids like I do with my ex wife. You are unfortunately stuck dealing with her. Although thankfully my ex absolutely does not give a shit about what I do. She got a new guy who makes way more money than me. And she so busy showing off her new life that what I do and who I date is not something she concerns herself with.

Also she cheated on me, and then decided she wanted a divorce. So she has been pretty busy trying to show the world it was worth it and she’s not a piece of shit. At the same time she is a great mom to kids so I do appreciate that.

I will say for the first year, she really did try and fuck with my life and who I was dating. And that created some challenges. Where I messed up was not being really strong in my communication about what was happening and keeping my new GF informed. And I really didn’t do the best job at standing up to my ex.

It’s weird how long it took me to realize I can piss my ex off and when I get home I don’t have to worry about because she won’t be there. Once I got figured out, I had not problem telling her no. And keeping her out of my life.

Going through the same type of thing. AP and Ex broke up soon after the divorce was final. I've been seeing a woman for about a year and am very happy. As soon as Ex found out I was dating the co-parenting situation began to be very contentious. Where before we had a working situation, and would try to do something together with the kids once in awhile. Now, anytime I can't bend over backwards to accommodate a change she wants, then it's because of my girlfriend. I got all the kids back to school supplies and clothes. Ex finally buys the kids a couple outfits and makes nasty comments about not wanting the girlfriend's kids touching the clothes.

Regret on her end is settling harder and harder. Women go through the same phase. They either cheat or initiate the divorce. Then you stop talking to you outside of the kids. Then 6+ months or 12+ months, if you start looking happy, in shape, doing well. They get upset. They realize they fucked up with their rash decision making. Was this an a honest mistake or did you want her to get her a little irritated or jealous?

Either way you should never tell your ex what’s going on in your life, unless it’s about the kids. Don’t give her anything to use against you, it’s none of her business. It’s not worth it.

My ex initiated the divorce, started to want to be "friends" a year later - coming over and wanting to walk her old dog (that she abandoned with me when she took off for greener pastures). I had made my peace with the Divorce by then and was like "Hey, free dog sitting"!

She saw a woman's purse by the door one day - funny thing is it wasn't even a woman I was dating - it was my buddies wife's. She lost it and went full no-contact. Haven't heard from her since.

Don't let her live rent free in your head. Live your new life, raise your kids properly, meet new and fascinating people and leave her in the rearview mirror.

Do you have kids to share custody with ?

If not you can block her now and move on with your life. You will start to notice that many new women you date will be marginally better than your ex. That’s fine you just can’t let her peep into your life if there are no kids involved.
