Because if you're a left-wing SJW then you have a belief that you are automagically morally in the right and anyone who disagrees with you is a sexist, racist, bigoted shitlord. I put the word belief in italics because that's precisely what it is - a statement of faith, just like a religion.

What I've discovered over many, many years is that the left simply cannot fathom nor tolerate someone who has a different opinion to them, despite claiming to be open-minded. It has been my experience that the left are the most narrow-minded people of all.

Edit: I think a large part of it is that when certain people believe they are "morally superior" to someone else, then they think they are "justified" to make vile, nasty personal attacks on their opponents. That doesn't make them superior - it just makes them bigoted.

People get invested in politics and lash out. It's the same with sports. There's no real good reason ever to riot and break shit just because your sports team didn't win, but that can happen. There's no good reason to lash out at supporters of a different candidate just because yours lost.

Accept it and move on. It's something people do from time to time. Try to be understanding of their perspective and definitely don't let it bother you. Don't take their words too literally.

I grew up with the belief that conservatives were idiots, that they all watched the local equivalent of Fox News and were brainwashed. That was a common belief around me. Now I'm in the office, wearing a t-shirt of Trump under my clothes, but I can't show it to anyone because then I may be risking being considered a total racist sexist whatever, when I'm not. European media has been largely against Trump and this has reflected on how people see him.

If you think you have the moral ground, like I thought when I was younger, then it makes sense to dehumanize the opposition, using shaming attacks and no arguments.

Donald Trumps crimes are thought crimes. They are icky ideas that we don't like to think. The worst they could dig up on him was him poorly explaining how powerful people get away with more when it comes to women, something that everyone here should full-well know by now to be true.

With her, the rabbit hole just went deeper and deeper. She proved to be everything that people thought she was as far as establishment corruption goes. The things implicated in the leaked emails are very serious.

Eg. the rape charges were all debunked or dropped by the women themselves, but no one cares. Trump has some pretty horrific ideas about governance. Putting aside his personal views, plans of his like scrappimg the ACA will directly and immediately negatively affect people. Real people. When you're talking about taking health insurance away from people who need it then that is pretty unforgivable tbh.

ACA was watered down nonsense but short sighted, sweeping changes are far worse. That will define his term.

Not to do the Hitler thing but it's the easiest comparison. If you say "I don't agree with what he did to the Jews but Hitler had some really great ideas." People are still not going to look at that in a good light because you are still agreeing with Hitler.

The dude's done a lot of shady shit, has multiple rape accusations(which people believe), has plans to bring in a cabinet of science deniers, bigots and religious people, has no political experience what so ever, is on good terms with Putin, has set absurd goals that will never be achieved(the wall) and many more things that people are not going to like.

There is a lot of things to take in with a new president and as every other one in my lifetime, 50% of the country is unhappy with it.

Have you been through a previous election cycle? Other than the supreme court justice that will be brought in by him, he has the ability to make final decisions that will effect ourselves and our children, decisions that may haunt the country for many years after he is no longer president. Not everyone is going to be happy with the presidential choice. I'll be honest, I'm pretty scared as we just elected a reality TV star/moderately successful investor to the highest position of office in the country. I honestly would not be surprised if he quits(via excuse) in less than 2 years.

My opinion is that Trump supporters come from an area of privilege who don't look at the other people who aren't as privileged as them whose rights Trump wants to take away, such as the Muslims who want to immigrate here that Trump wants to ban, or the women who desperately need an abortion, the gay people who want to get married, etc.

I'm not bothered by people who typically vote Republican. I have had and currently have many friends who lean right politically. I'm also not (that) bothered by supporting a guy who's racist and misogynist; sure, he's a shithead, but I'd be OK with a shithead who's remotely competent.

But Trump's not remotely competent; he's held about every position under the sun in just the past few years. It's nightmare inducing to think he has the power to start a war or launch nukes. He thinks climate change is a hoax and claims he didn't say things that there are videos of him saying. He's just not a rational person, and so I question the intelligence or political awareness of every person I know who voted for him. You don't play dice with stuff like nuclear launch codes.
