Move into someone else's apartment after 3 months? It's fine if you're 20 and don't know better. We've all made mistakes. But she doesn't know shit about this man! 3 months is barely enough time to vet for sex, let alone a whole ass move into an apartment. And what if the man is actually a creep and starts molesting your daughter? You showed by taking the violin and valuing him over your daughter that you can't be trusted. No.

See, moms like this create trauma and issues that daughters take into their adult dating lives. This happened to me.

It also sounds like the man is supporting them. Mommy dearest probably thinks he's "high value" because he's taken on her and her kid, not seeing the clear red flags in this situation. This is terribly dangerous.

If you are a single mother (and I am), men should NEVER come before your children. Men dont meet my children, unless we are really serious (which has only been once in the last many years, and it didnt work out). And personally, I would never EVER move in with a man, with my children, unless we were married. That doesnt mean I wouldnt travel or take vacations with all of us, or something. But I'm not uprooting my children for anything less than marriage.

Imagine having a daughter so driven and talented that she has the opportunity to be in an orchestra at 15, and has been using her time productively during COVID to achieve that dream and then thinking... nah, fuck my daughter's future, some fossilized dick that I've known for 3 months is more important.

I have to so many thoughts on this and how furious it makes me I can't even figure out how to put them into a comment that makes sense. What a complete ass this mother is and the boyfriend. This girl is going through some of her most malleable years with shit people who should be striving to be good role models and supportive in her goals. Especially in a time where a lot of kids this age don't have such aspirations or dedication to things outside of video games and social media. I hope this girl doesn't give up on playing violin and learns what NOT to do in/for a relationship especially one that would involve children if she were to choose that route. She deserves better.

This is so messed up in so many ways. It really bothers me she/ he took away and limited and restricted what she LOVED to do. The mother doesn’t care about her daughters future. Shes probably going to resent her mother for this and remember. Trying out for orchestra at 15?? When I was 15, I had no idea what I was doing nor was I doing anything like that. That is such a big opportunity , her trying out and possibly getting out into orchestra at 15 can open many paths and opportunities for her. I hope she gets other chances.

This is so sad.... and exactly how my childhood went. When I was 8 my mom (30F) met my stepdad (42M) and got pregnant after only three months of (long distance) dating. He was also much better of than my mom and after only seeing this guy twice she moved us into his house. I had a hard time planning my mornings as a child with (then undiagnosed) ADD so my mom would put on cartoons in the morning to help me with the planning. Cartoon 1 ment eating breakfast, two meant brushing teeth, three putting on shoes and leave when they were done. My new stepdad thought tv in the morning was riddiculous but never lifted a finger helping a upheavaled child find her bearings.
