I've seen males angry that single mothers and soon to be divorced single mothers get welfare from the government. They claim that the welfare is causing women to choose to become a single mother. This is another of those wet ground makes the rain ideas. It's confusing cause and effect.

What actually happened was young women were getting pregnant and had no money. So their were a lot of hungry and starving children around. A lot of them were abandoned because the mother couldn't take care of them. The fathers, of course, all bailed. In Victorian times these were street urchins.

Responsible people in society did not like seeing all this suffering so they created welfare for the mothers. The welfare wasn't created and then their was single mothers. Their were single mothers and a lot of abandoned children so then their was welfare.

Don't want welfare for single mothers men? Stop getting naive young women pregnant and abandoning them. Or you could do more and go find one and put a ring on her. Until then don't get upset that our society doesn't let children starve.
