Statistically speaking men do worse when they're single especially in older age. Divorced men remarry more often and faster than women do. I doubt there is any proven causation though, so one is free to interpret these stats in any way suitable for them.

It seems that men are also more bothered by a lack of attention, dating opportunities or sex. I know far more contented single women of all ages than I know happy single men. It could be just a biased sample, of course.

Men here also often claim that they need sex far more than women do, so I guess we could use it as an argument for men's higher neediness as well.

In the modern world, men need women more because the reasons for which women needed men have been largely eliminated - protection, financial support etc.

Men need women on an emotional level, because they do not have the support system women do and do not seek it. Women primarily, even statistically iirc, get their comfort and reassurance almost entirely from female friends and their mother and sisters if they have any. Whereas men overwhelmingly draw the entirety of their comfort from their female partner. Men do not have the same support system between men.

Men also desperate crave sex to the point that they call it a "need," and women do not have this same "need."

However, as a default state of existence, they need each other equally.

Men tend to need women more and take it as a personal failure when they’re unable to be in a relationship or have sex. Women do get lonely but it usually doesn’t devolve into them deconstructing and loathing everything about themselves.

This is likely evolutionary in nature so women aren’t driven to make bad reproductive choices out of desperation.

men can benefit from women lots. Whether it's platonic relationships, or romantic relationships. Im a male and i always feel comfortable and at ease with women and feel more emotionally vulnerable and get along with them. Men can benefit from having female acquantiances/friends, and a significant other. I always try to befriend women online and IRL, and whenever i would talk to them, i would feel safe, at ease, more vulnerable and would open up more to them. My male friends were emotionally unsupportive, except maybe 1-2 of them. I grew up mostly around women.

Statistics have even proved this. Coupled men are happier than single men are.

I disagree with Redpillers/MGTOW types who say "Men don't need women" quit lying to yourself, you know damn well if a woman was nice and friendly to you, you would denounce that group in a heartbeat and distance yourself from them.

What do men need women for? They have stated numerous times that they don’t want to do “emotional labor” for men, and most of us have experienced how being emotionally vulnerable with a female SO usually backfires.

That leaves sex. We need women for sex if we can’t get casual sex on a regular basis. But I wouldn’t say it’s a need, more like a want or a nice-to-have. All in all probably not worth all the trouble and effort, given that emotional intimacy is not on the table.

I'd say that women can cope better without men, than vice versa, in the adversarial environment we find ourselves in. Consumerism is an answer to many of women's needs and is divorced of any specific man's contribution to her life. However at the end of the day they need a man if they want to thrive - have a family, psychological stability, and to piggy back on his sense of purpose and perhaps even his spiritual insight. Our conditioning devalues these aspects of male love - because they can be inimical to the consumer society we are subjects of.

I think men need women more because married men live longer and have lower rates of depression than single men. However the same is not true for women. Women don't get an emotional or physical benefit from marriage.

Yes. But men need women not as much for the actual physical pleasure of sex as they do for the ego boost of knowing that women are attracted to them. Women don’t need men whom they don’t feel are attractive for this purpose at all, and while a woman feels better about herself when a high value man finds her attractive, I don’t think that this is as much of a psychological need for women as it is for men, hence how easily some women eventually just “give up” on men altogether.

Women used to need men in a psychological sense more back before the feminist revolution when their entire futures were uncertain if they didn’t find a man to provide for them (unless they made the decision to join a convent, perhaps). Now, women can take care of themselves more by finding good paying jobs, and the government and child support payments help out too, so the psychological need for a man is not so prevalent in women anymore except in developing countries. Of course, this psychological need is in a different category than the ego stroking need of attraction.

Individual level, adults, to survive with the society running as smoothly as it used to about a decade ago? It's not simple, but generally I'd say women rely a lot more on men for that to be the case than vice versa in terms of technical upkeep.

What could attribute to these differences?

Lack of need to have people perform visibly. Manufacture at questionable compensation rates overseas, out of sight, out of mind. Have guys perform upkeep of infrastructure out of sight, out of mind. Have quotas catering to "your" spending habbits, out of sight, out of mind. Have media pamper and flood the channels with what sometimes borders to malevolence, out of sight of targeted group(s), coming from the mind of those who present themselves as victims.

As I've written above, it's not simple, but the world does seem to have become "a bit" clown lately.

Depends on your idea of need. Women need 50x more effort from men in a relationship than men need from women. So, a single woman is way, way more unfulfilled than a single man is. I can cook for myself and I can have FWB or short term relationships and get my affection needs met.

I’d say women need men more. It’s just nature. “Women in the wild”lol were extremely vulnerable without a male protector and that instinct to find one is still prominent in female humans. Men on the other hand are less emotional by nature and can cope with not having a partner longer than most women.

I think women still need men more. Biology and the drive for survival hasn't changed just because we have technology. There is always a possibility we could need to go back to "the jungle" and most women would be vulnerable without a man around.

Edit: Men mostly "need" women for sex, so if the argument is sex vs survival, I think we can see who needs the other more.
