Yeah, if anyone here is on the fence about coffee dates, just look at this. This is exactly why men push for coffee dates. They know it's not a real date. They suss out women with low self-esteem by targeting ones who will accept a coffee date to begin with, and from there, it's a numbers game. Their biggest concern (as seen in this example) is that you won't be drunk and they can't take advantage of you as easily as they could after you've had a few drinks.

Men reveal who they are, they show their hand if they don't show their entire ass, believe what you see.

This type of thinking is why women should always say no to low effort dates. He’s using the money he is saving on your date to date multiple other women. That’s why I hate when Pickmes say they don’t want to come off as a gold digger or ungrateful so they pay 50/50. Every time you pay for a date or go cheap with a man he is using that extra money on someone else.

I made the terrible mistake of finding this post in that sub because I was interested in what people had to stay. I was APPALLED at the comments from the OP on that post, as well as so many others.

So many people recommending “free or cheap” activities like...you guessed it...a walk in the park. SO many suggestions for walks in the park to get some sunshine, and !! it’s !! free !! 🙄

Next, we’ve got the coffee date. But one chap said if he buys the coffee/drinks (no more than $10!), he tells the woman: “Drinks are on me tonight, but next time we will have dinner at your place. You cook.” I swear if a man invited himself to my home to have me cook for him after he bought me a $10 coffee...y’all 🤦🏻‍♀️

One dude said not to pay for a dinner (from other suggestions) but to get ice cream. The OP then asks if that suggestion yielded “the same results”?! At least one guy was...decent...by saying he likes to be with women sober, to which point the OP responds that “it’s easier to get physical when we’ve both had a drink or 2.”

Ladies, this is why we don’t do these types of “dates”. They’re not dates to get to know you. They’re to get in your pants and see how little it takes to get what they want. In this case, this LVM is even predatory about his methods. Disgusting.

They try to use drinks to get in your pants and coffee as a cheap cop out which is why we say no to these "dates".

He says he can't afford to take 4 to 5 women out at 30$ a drink meetup which is $120 to $150 a week.

Ladies for $120 to $150 he CAN afford to take 1 woman on two very high quality nice dates.

As I got older I realized a lot of men don't actually have as many money problems as they let on, they just choose to buy things they can't afford /live outside their means, and blow it on weed/video games/ridiculous car mods/expensive unecessary cars/strip clubs.

Almost any full time employed man CAN afford to take you on one quality date lets say $60 dinner plus $10 tip (that's 2 entrees and drinks or an appetizer at many places) they just choose not to. My friend and I went to a mom and pop Mexican place last week and our bill was seriously only $27. We ordered water, 2 entrees, and had chips and salsa they give on the house. Its a lot more affordable than you think!

I've always said this was a reason to expect the man to pay on a first date. If he has a rotation of women and is scouting for more, he won't want to pay $500/month on dinner and will look for ways out of it.

If he has good intentions he won't mind paying for your $20 meal.

So I visited that page and there were different responses:

"Split it"
"Go for walks."
"Go for coffee - $3"
"Go for iced cream - $5"
"That's too many first dates per week, go on less."
"Stop getting girls in 'fun mode' with alcohol, because they're more likely to regret it and not actually sleep with you for you (paraphrased).

Damn how rare is it for men to straight up ask you out for a dinner date on apps? Is it really that much of a struggle?

I feel like I would be so much better at asking women out. For $50 you can go on a really fun date - rock climbing, archery events, axe throwing, aquariums. Personally I like museums as more of a solo activity because it involves a lot of reading.

But like there is 0 effort in any of those suggestions.

For under $30 I could prepare a nice picnic with trail mix, a bean salad, a regular salad and a grilled chicken sandwich with lemonaid and jello. Depending on the person's interests I could also choose a fun location to do it - like by a petting zoo, where if you spend an extra 5$ you can pet a bunch of animals for 10 minutes. You could also feed ducks by a nice lake, watch planes take off at an airport (some people love that) or a nice view of a lake. Worst case scenario, do it in a public park and bring a podcast or play list that reflects the person's interests.

No man on a dating app would ever put that much effort into impressing a girl on the first date because they are trying to sleep with us and hope something shitty like $5 iced cream or $2 coffee with be sufficient. Plain and simple.

I know it's not FDS, but I really consider being asked out for coffee to be better than being asked out for drinks. Drinks is just an excuse to meet you late and try to get you in a place where you don't have your best judgment.

I'm European, so dinner dates as a first date are almost unheard of here.

And this is why (when the pandemic is over and its safe to go out again) I won't accept cheap coffee or drink dates. Ive come to realize that guys who want to go on cheap or free dates are usually playing the numbers game as hard as they can, and going out almost every single night with any woman that says yes to them. I've been that girl plenty of times. A cheap date suggested too early means he's just looking to pump and dump. At this point I won't say yes to anything that doesn't show hes willing and able to invest in a real relationship. A nice dinner, a planned activity. This is his chance to make a first impression, and i need to get the impression that he's serious about this.
