They're thinking they're being devastatingly clever and alluring. (Also that their dicks are magic.™) This inauthentic self-deprecating apology is meant to say "even though I'm doing the exact same thing that I know Bad Guys do, hey I'm one of the good ones! See, I acknowledge that I'm being in inappropriate ass! That means I'm NOT being an inappropriate ass! ...bitch..."

It's exactly the same as "I'm not racist BUT —" or "don't take this the wrong way —" It's a loud and clear declaration that they are doing exactly the thing they are warning you about, and we need to stop giggling at it.

While I think a lot of us have finally realized that engaging with bad behavior is a waste of our *valuable* time (a la online sparring, aka wrestling a pig), I am a fan of the to the point, no ambiguity, "no is a full sentence" style of response that she used there. SHE doesn't apologize, or mince words, or soft pedal an "oh it's okay" attitude. So even though he STILL doesn't behave appropriately, there can be no question that the both of them know he's a pig.

This stuff was incessant. Not just over text but in person, too. I would interview someone and it ends with them asking me out.

I could not handle it and it pushed me out the field
