Yep, and they won't even make you a sammich.

Reminds me of a story.

About 5 years ago, really hot fucking day, busy street (4 lanes - 2 each direction). Older woman's car stalled a few cars back from intersection. Cars all jammed up trying to get around. She's outside the car pacing on her phone (the international sign of a woman in distress). I watched for a minute and no one was helping. I felt worse for the otehr people getting all jammed up and was like "fuck, can't believe I'm gonna do this." and I go to help.

She's kinda frantic and skiddish. It's almost like she was spooked that I was there, as if I was gonna do something bad (yeah, with dozens of cars passing by every minute, sure lady). Then she's like 'CAA is coming" and I'm like "yeah, in an hour maybe, there's a parking lot right there, I'm gonna push you out of the road"

She didn't seem willing to really follow my instructions (still strong and independent even when in need, yeesh). She's behind the wheel but she's still on the phone and all flustered. She was NOT co-operating. I look up and there's this black SUV with a winch on the front and some lights. I give the guy a point and nod. BAM, his yellow lights come on and he pulls up.

This guy does this as like a side hustle. He drives around looking for motorists in need and is trying to start a sort of roadside assistance side-hustle. PERFECT man for the job. So anyway, now with 2 of us she's being a little more compliant. She steers, and we push her car into the parking lot of this convenience store.

As we're doing a little troubleshooting she goes into the store. Comes out with a glistening bottle of water - JUST ONE, for HERSELF. I'm standing there in AWE. Me and this fucking guy are sweating, it's fucking hot as balls and the bitch couldn't even get us a water.

All of this was going on while I was having a break up and my ex was around the corner picking up her stuff that I dropped at a mutual friend's house. I'm just running though my head how fucking selfish women are.

I'm like 'I'm gonna go" . the guy I worked with was being even more of a white knight than I. He was going to stay behind until help came. In a moment when I thought she was far enough away I'm like "she can't even get us a fucking water? what the hell would they do without us men, she's still acting scared like I'm gonna steal her purse" - but she had just walked up and heard me just as he says "Amen brother".

She had an incredulous look on her face. She was pissed but she also fucking knew I was right so she was frozen. There were no "thank you's" or anything. I go "Yeah, I'm outta here, THANKS FOR THE WATER!" and walked away. She puts on a (pikachu face). Had to get my own fucking water.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH WOMEN? Like SERIOUSLY.

We can bend over backwards for them and they're so ungrateful can't even feed and water the horse doing the work.

Ignore them and they're like "what the fuck is wrong with men?", help them and it's like "meh, I didn't really need you"

Men receive so little gratitude and encouragement. For a while we work really hard for it. Eventually we give up. Women (pikachu face).

[–]throwawaygoodvibess 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fuckin shame smh. Sometimes they don’t even have common decency

In my experience, NAWALT. I’ve had some very grateful women, if I’ve helped them, and even helpful women in my life, who have helped me. But God, sometimes they can be quite awful

Strangers, and coworkers, and other vindictive/hateful/misandrist type of women. They exist, and I hate that parts of society, especially simps and male feminists, as well female feminists / misandrists / female supremacists, believe none of these type of women exist. The latter being an example / exhibit a themselves haha. Some people literally believe women can do absolutely no wrong

and you're out there doing the rioting for men too?

[–]Angelmistfit 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I would if they had the issues needed for it. Which they hardly ever do, like women.

[–]TextDependent6779 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

draft? genital mutilation? disproportionate homeless and suicidexrates?

what issues do women need rioting for again?

[–]Angelmistfit 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

🙄 Ignorant. Women cant breast feed in public without toxic misogyny or even from toxic women. Women who aren't attractive (or fat) are viewed as less valuable, and women used to not be allowed to vote, with wade vs roe overturned that's going to be next. Women can't play video games without dealing with the misogynistic culture behind it. Women can't wear tanks, skirts or shorts in school or work without being told to go home, there's cat calling we have to deal with, being stalked, cant tell most man no without being harssassed. Women never feel safe. Sex trafficking, illegal abortions. The list goes on

[–]TextDependent6779 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

ignorant? huh?

you seem to think men have no meaningful issues. i know women have issues, and the overturning of RvW is the most recent one.

Women cant breast feed in public without toxic misogyny or even from toxic women

you mean women cause women's issues? apparently i shouldn't care about those ones.

but yes, this is actually a valid issue.

Women who aren't attractive (or fat) are viewed as less valuable,

this one isn't gender specific, though a woman's value is placed more on beauty than a man's. luckily, there is now the body positivity movement for women.

on the other hand, I've never seen body positivity used for men, only when it comes to 'unattractive' women. everywhere i like there's still super muscled six pack men.

women used to not be allowed to vote

doesn't matter anymore. now women can vote, and they get access to voting rights without signing up for the draft.

we're talking about the different rights between men and women.

RvW

valid, but I've been very vocal about my belief in women's abortion access.

Women can't play video games without dealing with the misogynistic culture behind it

gaming in general has a very toxic culture from a lot of very toxic individuals. from mine and my friends experiences, none of this comes from misogyny. (and yes, many of those friends are female).

cat calling we have to deal with

valid.

being stalked

gender-neutral.

most man no without being harssassed.

if more women actually asked, this would also be gender-neutral, but men are still left to fulfill the traditional 'pursue' role. i suspect this one is misogyny born from misandry.

Women never feel safe.

a lot of men don't either. feeling unsafe keeps you safe. it's an important thing to have.

Tex trafficking,

gender-neutral (im guessing you meant sex trafficking).

illegal abortions

valid, but only because RvW was overturned, and only in certain areas.

[–]Angelmistfit 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"On the other hand, I've never seen body positivity used for men, only when it comes to 'unattractive' women. "

I've seen body positives about men as well.

"gaming, in general, has a very toxic culture from a lot of very toxic individuals. from my and my friend's experiences, none of this comes from misogyny. (and yes, many of those friends are female)." do women.

This is incorrect, yes it IS very toxic in general and affects everyone, but it doesn't change that it affects women way more and it's still misogyny. Because men hate women for playing games or certain types of games. They don't believe women are good at games, or smart enough for them.

"being stalked

gender-neutral."

Again true, but again affects women way more, beyond way more.

And all of your other "gender neutral arguments are invalid because it affects women to a much higher degree than men. And because of this women have to fear for their safety. I'm not saying men don't either but its not the same as women.

[+]GodBirb -27 points-26 points-25 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

I mean wouldn’t we want women to do the same for our issues as well?

I don’t see your point.

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 39 points40 points41 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

The point is that they have not traditionally done this for men. People in hell want ice water, but that doesn't mean much.

Last I checked, the line was "No Uterus, No Opinion"

Fine.

Not my monkeys, not my circus.

[–]Angelmistfit -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Firstly, not all women say that, so deciding to ignore the problem women are having right now over some women saying this to you if that has even happened, is wrong. It's just an excuse to hate women even by a few toxic women. Secondly, the vast majority of women ONLY say this to men who are only pro-life, out there forcing women to have children despite them wanting the right to have abortions. Are you pro-life? have you been telling women that abortion is murder? Do you believe that? Or do you believe it's wrong? If you believe it's wrong then why are ya'll over here using this excuse to be ridiculous when there are bigger problems at hand here? like women going to jail over something as simple as having a miscarriage, yet you want to cry about stupidness. Grow up.

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Not all brightly colored jungle tree frogs are poisonous. So we look at the numbers and decide how to approach things. If there is an overwhelming majority of non-poisonous tree frogs, then we do not necessarily count them as dangerous.

However, this is not the case, is it? So we behave a certain manner based on probability and occurrence.
Poo-poo on whoever taught the shit tactic of “See?!?!? There’s an exception, so everything is WRONG!!”. That is sophomoric and doesn’t work in the planet we live in. This kind of reasoning is dumber than a bucket of shit with no handle. It proves nothing.

[–]Angelmistfit 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You're um.... yikes...

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Ad hominem. Ineffective here.

No logical rebuttal, I guess, ey?

[–]Angelmistfit 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There was no logical sense in your response. No one seems to intelligently comprehend what I'm saying. I guess that's what I get for talking to women hating men, lol, who come from 4chan. Any dumb or weird replies, I'm not going to give any effort. Because I don't have the energy for ignorant, illogical replies like yours.

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Nothing, huh? Couldn’t get the little grey cells firing, so you scream “my-soggy-knee”, or “you hate wimminz”, deliver a few more ad hominem attacks and pretend that your word dancing actually addressed anything. Because you know that if you tried logic and ration, again, you would have to fire up the brainpower, put your fee-fees in check and have accountability. All terrifying prospects, I’m sure.

The problem? Everyone knows this tactic. It doesn’t work here. Debate estimative probability. Because that’s what this is about.

[–]Angelmistfit 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And women have fought for men's rights, so you're incorrect.

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What percentage, would you say?

[–]clownsssss 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yah but they would never for us.

[–]poptartwith 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course we should both care about each other's issues; that's just being a human. But the point he's trying to make is the feminists are not out there rioting and 'being vocal' for our issues. How come we can't fight for our own rights but we must fight for theirs? We already have a lot of rights to fight for ourselves. It would be unfair to have the fight for Women's rights be a collaborative effort but fighting for Men's rights be a one sided street.

[+]PFCWilliamLHudson -7 points-6 points-5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women are already rioting, dumbass.

[–]GradeOneAgain 64 points65 points66 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

She seems to want to hear from the men that believe women should control their own bodies. But she has no interest in hearing from the men that want to tell women what they are allowed to do with their bodies.

She should view the men that want to take rights from her and give rights to her the same or she's a hypocrit.

[+]trapezemaster -40 points-39 points-38 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Huh??? That exactly the issue. Men telling women what to do with their bodies are the enemy. It’s true of anybody telling anybody else what to do with their body. Men or women.

[–]MaxTheCatigator 37 points38 points39 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What a fucked up nonsensical claim. Women hold the absolute majority among the voters.

Of course women are always the victim, they're simply incapable of holding responsibility.

[+]trapezemaster -6 points-5 points-4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I didn’t say they’re the only ‘enemy’…and I said anybody telling anyone what to do with their body is the enemy. A friend of mine told me the other day his boss made him crawl through sewage underneath a house a couple weeks ago, with no PPE…that guy is the enemy…get it?

And look, starting a sentence with “what a fucked up nonsensical claim” is just a dick gaslighting move. You’re why men look bad.

[+]GradeOneAgain -30 points-29 points-28 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Found the feminist. Some bodies need to be controlled. It's just a fact of life.

[–]trapezemaster -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ok, good read

[+]trapezemaster -6 points-5 points-4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Incorrect, unless you’re a criminal. Ghislaine Maxwell, for example…yes let’s control her. Life in prison. I’m all for it. Shoulda controlled Epstein better but he got out easy with a suicide.

[–]Temporary_Spend_3111 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Some bodies need to be controlled" i see why your saying that but i urge you to look into the history of that mentality and those doctrines.

Draconian style law isnt the fix, furthermore most of the issues regarding women and the state of united states women stem from two factors. Culture coddling them and the legal system favoring them.

That being said its not wise to overturn roe vs wade due to the fact that another roe vs wade scenario is bound to happen expecially regarding the increase of permiscuility over the years.

[–]Temporary_Spend_3111 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I mean im not sure why you got down voted tbh

[–]trapezemaster 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]Temporary_Spend_3111 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What happened to “no uterus no opinion”

I am pro choice but this whole “men need to shut up unless they agree with me” is insulting.

[–]Angryasfk 57 points58 points59 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And it’s very feminist.

[–]CaptainCanuck15 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They already said it was insulting to men

[–]MGTOW_and_Bitcoin 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If men had a legally protected choice, we would have the opportunity to understand the importance of that..

[+]Angelmistfit -18 points-17 points-16 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

That went over your head. The "No uterus no opinion" means when the guys are trying to control women.

[–]Algoresball 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

So it’s “no uterus, no opinion of your own, you’re only allowed to agree with my opinion”

Sorry that’s not how the world works

[+]Angelmistfit -22 points-21 points-20 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Again it went over your head. How about you learn the meaning behind that saying first. Also, are you really going to blame all women over a handful of toxic feminists? yall sound like a bunch of children.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Are you serious?

What is the meaning of “no uterus, no opinion”?

Does it not mean that someone without an uterus is not allowed an opinion?

What nuance or hidden meaning am I missing here, exactly?

[–]Angelmistfit 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Firstly, not all women say that, so deciding to ignore the problem women are having right now over some women saying this to you if that has even happened, is wrong. Personally, I don't believe women should get a say in whether circumcision is legal or not. Its not their body and they shouldnt have a choice. However I'm all for women supporting the fight to end circumcision and I would never tell them to shut up.

So I too am hypocritical just like feminists.

[–]elebrin 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. If women say "men need to speak up" and we do, it always ends with women saying "No, not like that!"

[–]GradeOneAgain 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Well not for me. As I'm supportive of women controlling their own bodies. However as soon as someone says what happens in their bodies should be regulated by the government, it's all 'shut up' and 'why should the government have any control over my body'?

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points31 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If a man can't pay child support, the government controls his body by locking it in a jail cell. I would like Meghan Markle to be more vocal about that.

[–]mikesteane 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would like Meghan Markle not to be vocal about anything until she has done some manual labour.

[–]elebrin 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Right - if a man speaks up and says, "I support all bodily autonomy. We need to end practices like circumcision and the draft, and we need to protect men from financial ruin at the hands of women who create children with their DNA without their blessing. So long as women support these things, I support the legalization of abortion."

For me, it's about contingency. Men have a lever and we need to use it. That, unfortunately, is how life works: you look for your levers and you push on them to get what you need. Sometimes you build them yourself. If you don't, you get left behind and starve.

[–]Killersmile60 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's the same reason why hard drugs are illegal. Some people can do hard drugs for years and be fine, others cannot. I looked in to the mental health aspect of abortion in a video, however, you never hear that from feminists. There's no conclusive proof either way, but there is an acknowledgement from all that post abortion, some women do have mental health complications.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

If you the right to consent to sex and use contraception, yes, without reservation. Abortion is a bit more tricky than that though. Would you support a woman 8 1/2 months into a pregnancy aborting a kid because she’s found someone better than the expectant father and doesn’t want “baggage” to come between them?

[–]masterdarthrevan 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I do and want to support women and men. To be fair to both people and the child, in this situation, abortion should be legal until a certain maturity of the fetus. Like at certain point it's not healthy to have an abortion. I don't want to decide that length of time, but by 5 months dont you think you should have made up your mind? At 8 1/2 months it sure does feel a bit more murdery but there are still births and abandoned babies left to die and that's after they're born and no one's getting charged for murder there. Why not at birth the doc takes the thing out smacks the parents (instead of the child- if this joke needs to be explained) and asks " if you want this baby, give it name and if not I throw away, 3, 2, 1 ohhh whoops too late into de trash it goes" the doctor is crazy and has a weird accent but he doesn't care, the point is the parents have to be ready, and if it's at that point they realize this ain't for them, why not then? It's a good point of least suffering, lowest effort , least risk. I sure would be upset by that woman if she started asking for alimony or child support, but I sure would support her right to abort instead so that she doesn't cause that man to suffer unjustly at the hands of such witch.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

They can be charged with murder. It’s just that the authorities tend to be lenient and take post natal depression seriously. Abortion isn’t just the woman, there are doctors and others who actually perform the procedure. Or should Eichmann have been released as he was “just following orders”? Do you see the point? There’s a difference between dealing with situations with compassion and actively saying it’s just fine.

[–]masterdarthrevan 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

It’s just that the authorities tend to be lenient and take post natal depression seriously

This is exactly what I meant, there's Lee way in this area , and believe me I do get it, my family spent years as a "pro-life" family, and most of them still are, but I'm more in the "you do you" / "choose what's best for you" camp now and have been for over 15 years.

And seriously which Eichmann do you mean , there are several https://www.britannica.com/biography/Adolf-Eichmann

This one who was in charge of the mass execution plan? And why bring him up, I read the bio and it said nothing about baby killing. But something about his excuse was just following orders.

Ok? So what does "I'm just following orders" have to do with abortions?

[–]Angryasfk -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Stop being disingenuous. You know exactly what I’m talking about. Abortion laws are chiefly about absolving medical practitioners from being prosecuted for their actions. The recent Texas law, for example, laid open to prosecution not the woman seeking an abortion, but those performing it.

[–]masterdarthrevan 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not being disingenuous here at all. Should the doctors be prosecuted ? Is that what you are trying to say? Or that both should be prosecuted? Because I don't think either of them deserve punishment. (As long as it's done safely, as opposed to a back alley abortion with a coat hanger, because that guy wasn't even a doctor)

[–]Darkwolf90 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That's a failure of empathy, I'm not attempting to be insulting btw. Genital or body mutilation are generic non-sex specific violations of body autonomy. While it can be expressed differently depending on the genitals of the person it can still be deconstructed to a generalized fundamental experience to help you understand the feelings and thoughts of another based on the shared aspects of what on the surface seems to be unrelated, unshared experiences.

[+]TalentedObserver -9 points-8 points-7 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Except not.

Your characterisation reflects neither the actual incidence of the practice on the ground, nor the state of the laws regarding its regulation.

[–]Darkwolf90 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's the point, A woman failing to understand that a man being circumcised is a legal, socially acceptable method of genital mutilation is either a disingenuous manipulator or un-empathetic who hasn't/can't think deeply on the subject. The reverse is also true. Hence, it's constructive to point to them who complain and don't understand socialized FGM to how MGM is. The discussion can be telling of who it is your actually having a debate with and whether there was a point in debating or you need to treat them as an enemy given they are acting against your interests for their own.

[–]TalentedObserver 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My point was that, I don’t think the original comment to which you replied reflects a ‘failure of empathy’, as you put it.

The reason for this is that, bundling MGM in with FGM is ineffective, insofar as feminists are uninterested in sacrificing social space within this pet issue to genital autonomy for men, too.

Instead, an ‘unempathetic’, specifically mens’ rights-based approach based upon the legal issues of MGM, specifically, and seeking to resolve this ‘sui generis’ is needed.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same with conscription.

[–]Kilir 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't agree here. Once we start dividing who gets to have a say by sex, it doesn't end. Imagine a mother who does not want to circumcise her newborn not getting a say if her husband decides he wants to circumcise. I could only support depriving a specific attribute of a say if that attribute is "not involved".

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]HerbDeanosaur 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Surely you can have a thoughtful take on something that doesn’t directly affect you. In fact it could even be a valued perspective, it can be hard to see something through unbiased eyes when it does affect you so maybe someone else might be in a better spot to look at the issue.

[–]Angelmistfit 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Firstly, not all women say that, so deciding to ignore the problem women are having right now over some women saying this to you if that has even happened, is wrong. It never works out. All that does is culture resentment and loathing. We gotta stop doing that. I think we’re a generation of men caught in the crosshairs of the change, and there is a lot of mens rights stuff that falls through the cracks. Totally legitimate concerns. BUT…when it’s “us against them”, the fight becomes more armored. The opponent becomes more fierce. Is that really what we want? Both women AND men really open up and can show sensitivity and compassion for people who are experiencing trauma and inequality when there’s a personal connection. When we’re just a bunch of men in an echo chamber of hate, we’ve already lost credibility.

Some people believe the fetus should also be able to control their body.

[+]trapezemaster -15 points-14 points-13 points 4 years ago (68 children) | Copy Link

That’s a pretty simplistic argument. The fetus doesn’t have a complete body until about halfway through the second trimester when the nervous system is nearing completion, and the brain isn’t really developed until the third. Most abortions happen within 15 weeks, the first trimester. The fetus is basically a little more than a glob of cells.

Putting a fetus ahead of a mothers is not pro-life.

Science still doesn’t really have a definition for when life begins. Mitosis itself is kind of ‘life’, but not what we’re talking about. Abortion is talking about human life, and the federal definition of a human or person is someone who has been born. That’s when you become autonomous. Until then…and even after, you rely on the body of a host. That’s basically a parasite.

[–]Angryasfk 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

Parasite?

[–]DepressionHimself 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

I notice womens opinion on if they have a baby inside them or just a "clump of cells" is often times dependent on how they feel about said pregnancy.

Woman finds out shes pregnant and wants to keep it? As soon as she knows that she is pregnant she acts and speaks as if she has a baby inside her, not a fetus or a "clump of cells", a baby.

If a woman finds out shes pregnant and doesnt want it? Most of the time they will dehumanize said baby into "just a clump of cells" so they dont feel as bad when they abort said child.

[–]trapezemaster -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

….I think you just made my point. It’s up to the woman, depending on her reality, not anyone else’s

[–]DepressionHimself 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

See this is whats so stupid about ur arguement, the concept of "Her reality" and "her truth" doesnt fucking exist, u cannot pick and choose depending on which suits u the best. There is ONE truth, and ONE reality. Truth and reality are not subjective. Ur APPRECIATION of the truth or reality is.

If i kick a pregnant woman down the stairs and it kills her (not a threat just an example), it doesnt matter if shes pregnant for a week, 2, 3 it doesnt matter i am liable for the death of 2 human beings.

U cannot pick and choose, it is one, or the other. Just because women are women they do not deserve 2 slices of cake.

More post modernist projection.

[–]trapezemaster 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

What I experienced in my childhood is not the same childhood that you experienced. My reality was different than yours. It’s a fundamental nature of sentient beings. If I was abused, my reality of childhood is pretty shitty. Yours might be cheery, but my reality is different. Trauma doesn’t end…it affects adulthood too. It shapes the real world you inhabit. See how it works? We relate to words, ideas, and people differently depending on our experiences. That what make “my reality” and “your reality”.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Experience affects your life. But reality will bite you on the arse.

Look, a young woman with no education and limited financial resources and no reliable partner is in a very different set of circumstances than a one who is married and is financially stable. But this is individual CIRCUMSTANCES, not some totally separate “truth” or “reality”. They do not inhabit worlds with different laws of physics, or where ageing is different, or one breaths oxygen and the other fluorine gas.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

You’re a post modernist idiot. There’s no mode of thought I despise more. At least you can present counter evidence to a Nazi and watch them wriggle on the hook, and the same for a Communist. But post modernists deny reality pure and simple. Post modernists have no right to criticise the most extreme Nazi or any fundamentalist Christian who argues the world is 6000 years old. It’s all equally valid right? And all modes of thought are motivated by power? Well surely that includes post modernists. In fact I’d go further: it’s projection by post modernists. So it applies to them more than anyone else.

[–]trapezemaster 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Wow, you’re so angry that people have different experiences throughout their life…I’m sorry, but that is a real thing. You can’t handle the truth, don’t be mad a me for it.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Sorry mate, but reality is reality. People may have different circumstances, and certainly different beliefs. But they are not entitled to a different “truth” or “reality”. These things exist independently of an individual and so are not dependent upon their beliefs or background.

I’ve had a post modernist claim that gravity was a “social construct”. I have little time for post modernism.

Agree. I have no issue listening to the arguments for abortion. But when they start on “parasite”, I have no time for the pompous idiots. By definition, the young of any species is not a parasite. Are the elderly parasites? And by that standard, are women? They’re nett consumers of public funds whilst men are net payers.

It’s disgusting how dehumanising so-called “progressivists” truly are.

[–]Heavy_Grand2526 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The baby has it’s own unique DNA from the point of conception. It is totally unscientific and illogical to deny that it is a unique living human being.

[–]MaxTheCatigator 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Of course human life starts with conception, that discussion's been settled decades and generations ago.

I hate to possibly sound like a smartass, but I would posit that a baby is by definition a person with all the rights human persons have as that noun is used after birth only.

So the question is on the situation before birth, at what developmental stage the embryo becomes a person or otherwise starts to acquire human rights, most importantly the right to life and protection thereof by the state. IMHO the fact that natural aborts can be deeply traumatising starting at/around the fourth month should give a big hint.

[–]Heavy_Grand2526 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But isn’t determining the life of something to be “unimportant” what evil people like Hitler did? How is your opinion of what life is or isnt important valid? Are you God or some being higher than humans?

[–]hokumjokum -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, i don’t disagree. but you’ve killed flies and plants before, a Fetus isn’t any more of a thinking feeling suffering human than that. and the life of the mother when she is unable to care for it or doesn’t want to because it’s a rape baby or something, well her life is more important than those few cells to whom she gives life.

In many of these situations you’re actually signing the future person up to orders of magnitude more suffering than the abortion itself if they are to be born into poverty, drug abuse, whatever…

[–]trapezemaster 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

People have a right to choose. Religion isn’t based on reality, but we all have a choice in the US to chose to act in a way according to our beliefs. Abortion should be the same as that.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

In other words, people can choose to grant human rights to an unborn child, and then protect these rights.

[–]trapezemaster 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Protect those right for themselves. This country is all about having freedoms to chose what’s right for you, not other people. If it’s a believe that human rights begin at conception, let it be that….a belief. There is not scientific consensus about when an embryo is sentient.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There is not scientific consensus about when an embryo is sentient.

Then how does a society decide at what time it's still allowed to terminate the life of the fetus? Some people say until the day it is born. Others say 25 weeks. Can we all decide for ourselves?

[–]trapezemaster 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Well not “we”…just women. We (men) can have conversations about the decision with our pregnant partner, but cannot make the decision. That’s not how medical decisions work. That’s medical ethics 101. More than 90% of terminated pregnancies happen before 15 weeks. That’s what women choose and is by far the least controversial time to abort. The rest are usually determined to be medically necessary. Later term abortions just don’t happen very much and when they do, something is probably going wrong. Pregnancies are not a walk in the park…things go wrong.

If the majority of the people in my country disagree with my definition of murder, then I clearly I need to stop massively oversimplifying complex situations or reevaluate my terminology

It’s America, the land of the free, people have different opinions and beliefs

Some Christians view contraceptives as murder, some think gay marriage should be a crime. That doesn’t mean their minority beliefs should have authority over someone else’s body or life.

You can protest against it, dissuade them, but you can’t force people to abide by your feelings.

Yes, you do.

[–]-Soggy-Potato- 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But there you go again, oversimplifying the situation so you can make it black and white, that’s not how a just society should operate

If it came down to a democratic vote, you’d see that a majority of Americans disagree with banning abortion thought

And This isn’t touching on how the people in power often do not represent the people

It’s restricting peoples freedoms based on a disingenuous ‘majority’

Not touching on how it’s this sort of utilitarian fallacy. If a vote goes 51% to 49% for abortion, is it moral to outright ban it? How can you justify exerting such control over the bodily autonomy of the 49%?

It wouldn’t be such a big deal if freedoms weren’t being restricted. It’s why the freedom to practice any religion exists, because even if you disagree with something it doesn’t give you a right to outright ban another individual from doing it

[–]Heavy_Grand2526 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But sadly the freedom of one person cannot interfere with the freedom of another.

[–]MaxTheCatigator 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually they do all the time, everywhere. Just as an example, your freedom to grab and take what you like is limited by the other's right to possession and owndership, and (in case you wanted to grab a person) their own personal rights and freedoms.

The question is where the balance (limit of one's vs the other's) is deemed to be.

unknown when life begins

What an idiotic claim. Life for mammals begins with conception. In the US, which isn't the rest of the world btw, you become a citizen with birth but to claim that that's equivalent to the start of life is simply inane.

Even a stone has a higher IQ than you.

[–]Legitimate-Ad-6267 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There really isn't a point that you can say "life begins" because all the parts involved were already alive in the father's testicles and the mother's body 24/7. Getting super technical like that is meaningless for conversation and problem solving.

[–]MaxTheCatigator 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wrong.

Cellular life requires a metabolism and the to capacity to reproduce. The metabolism (possibly parts of it) may already be present in the ovum, but the capacity to reproduce is acquired by conception. This is established biology and accepted scientific fact since many decades.

The only one getting technical is you. You're making up an issue only to use that as a base to state that what you're saying is meaningless. I do agree with this last point.

[–]Mythandros 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I would hardly call a small cluster of barely formed cells "life". I believe life begins when the brain becomes active.

It's a biological, and thus scientific, definition. Do note that we're talking about mammals thus cellular life.

Crazy because last time I checked 95% of biologist agree life begins at conception

[–]trapezemaster 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Oh yeah? Where’s your citation coming from?

Also, let’s be real…no one gives a shit about life. If people cared about life schools would offer free lunches, generous maternity and paternity leave, financial /educational assistance for parents who are struggling, universal healthcare, mass shootings would never happen EVER AGAIN, housing costs would be affordable, global arming would be take seriously, everyone would get paid a fair living wage….just to name a few things. So life is preschools until you get here, but then “fuck you”?

Rights to kill a baby?

[+]mehregan_zare7731 -16 points-15 points-14 points 4 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

It's not born yet mate , it's not a baby , it's not even alive. It resembles nothing of a human life. But by letting it live you're condemning it to a loveless life.

[–]Angryasfk 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Really? Canada allows unrestricted abortions. And post Roe abortion law was “unclear” on when abortions should not be performed. Even pre-Roe Texas law allowed for abortion to protest the mother’s life. And I’m tired of the “it’s not alive” stuff. The state of Victoria allows for unrestricted abortions to 24 weeks (as does New York State) and those born at that time have a 75% survival rate.

Let’s not shy away from what is sometimes pushed as “women’s rights”. When a woman finds out that she’s pregnant, what’s developing rapidly goes from a “clutch of cells” to something that is recognisably a baby. Let’s just accept that she has a short window to decide to abort. I think 24 weeks is too long. In fact if abortion is to be legal, the median gestation age of viability has to be the latest point for a non-medical abortion. If the “vast majority” are really less than 15 weeks, this shouldn’t have a big impact on women surely.

[–]mehregan_zare7731 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. Unrestricted abortion as long as the fetus is very young ( although some might disagree , it's hard to draw a line because the brain keeps developing until 25 , the personality until 16. Memory doesn't even begin to form correctly until 3 or 4 ). I'm not American , but I've lived my life feeling unloved , unwanted. I'm not greatful of my life , I did chose to end it multiple times. I don't wish my fate on anyone else.

[–]The_Peacock_King -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not American

Than your opinion is irrelevant.

[–]mehregan_zare7731 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How come? Human rights is a worldwide issue. I can't speak about the overture since it won't directly effect me but I can speak about abortion rights since that effects everyone no matter the nationality.

[–]The_Peacock_King -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Your opinion on Roe v Wade is irrelevant, you're not American. So I doubt you'll encompass what it's all about.

I believe Roe v Wade spits in the face of Human rights, and I believe they're entirely separate issues. I'm all for human rights, but this is a completely separate issue all around.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well we don’t allow 20 year olds to be killed on the basis that the brain is still forming. And as for memory, I have memories from when I was 15 months old. It was only looking at a photo album when I was 20 and looking at the date my mother put on the picture that I realised how far back my memories went. I not only remember the scene in the picture, I remember what happened before and after. The pull on the lawn mower broke; my father swore, pulled it off, and wrapped a heavy duty electrical wire around the barrel to use as a temporary fix.

I wasn’t aware of the date, or my age, so I didn’t think I remembered things from that age. But clearly I did, and likely before if it was something that really interested me.

So that’s left me cautious about the disregarding of the abilities of young children (especially coming from pompous asses like Singer).

[–]mehregan_zare7731 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Sorry to tell you mate but you don't really remember that. I think I remember stuff from when I was 3 too but the truth is it's biologically impossible to do so. It's more likely that we've heard those events at a very young age ( let's say 5 ) but we forgot about it and later our brains associated that data with a made up memory ( our mind makes up stuff alot of the time . right now only a portion of your screen is in focus; your mind is making up details in the rest of it. Same goes for memories: only a small portion of data is actually stored and the rest are filled up by things your brain knows or thinks it knows ).

I'm not saying we should kill 20 year old.. but we can kill something that doesn't have an idea of self ( in other words: something conscious) , we already do that to all living beings.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I do remember it.

I’m sorry you don’t. But you’re claim that it’s biologically impossible to do so is wrong.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I actually do remember my second birthday. My mother made a chocolate layer cake (my favourite) and had a Donald Duck figurine in it with two candles on either side. I’d played with it before she put it on the cake (it’s arms moved) and I tried to move the arms with the lit candles. Burnt my fingers, and my father made a scathing comment about “now you’ve burnt your fingers”, which I wasn’t happy about. I also remember my third birthday. Where my cousin claimed he’d helped me blow out the candles, and his sister was wearing “corrective glasses” and my mother let the elastic on the party hat snap back and hurt my chin. I also remember before I was two and they pulled down the old back yard shed (just after the pictures) and I saw an egg sack, which looked “fury” so I rubbed my hand on it to feel it and got stung. They took me to the doctor and I had to take medicine for the swelling. My mother kept saying it was a spider bite, and I kept trying to say it was this furry thing, but no one listened to me.

Sorry mate. Some of us actually can do this. Sorry if you cannot.

Women want men to save them once again. Fuck that when women throw men under the bus and refuse to assist men have rights.

Your pedestal has now been condemned and women are in the same position as men: feminism is about equality so now you can experience what equality is like for men.

Markle said that all men need to join women in the fight to protect abortion rights.

If men were granted abortion rights too (as far as that is possible via a paper abortion), then perhaps it would be worthwhile for men to join women to fight for abortion rights.

Women having children is natural: having a child is not the end of the world and if women use contraception properly, the risk of a child is quite small. Abortion should not be used in place of contraception.

[–]Angryasfk 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I couldn’t agree more.

Feminists caused this by seeking to change abortion laws by a judicial “fix” instead of a real campaign for change. And have since been pulling every dirty trick under the Sun to try an block Supreme Court candidates they think may oppose it (except the most recent one who’s apparently bulletproof because she has tits). And where has it got them in the end?

And as for not overturning laws: would they also condemn Brown vs the board of education?

That just sounds like an immensely unhelpful and unproductive start point

Like, Picture a racist scenario, a white guys hurling slurs at a black guy on the 302 bus. I’m not gunna sit gleefully, relishing in the harassment. And I’m certainly not gunna go out afterwards and complain to the victim when he asked about getting help, talking about ‘keeping the same energy for racism against white people’ am I? Because I know how harmful generalisations are and I am aware of how other people have unique struggles. I don’t need / require something in return for helping / supporting them

It’s just about empathy. What’s the point of being so bitter, it’s genuinely so unproductive

[–]p3ngwin 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

And I’m certainly not gunna go out afterwards and complain to the victim when he asked about getting help, talking about ‘keeping the same energy for racism against white people’ am I?

In your analogy, was this black person ever racist in the same way to other people ? If he was, i wonder how much of a pacifist you would be to espouse "have some empathy won't you?" ?

I don’t need / require something in return for helping / supporting them

Considering how no feminist movement, or campaign, has ever helped men's issues, only to demand men support female superiority, at men's expense, what's your point here?

You support women who demand rights that men don't have ?

Do you think men should roll over and always support feminists when they want something, no matter how much it devalues men ?

It’s just about empathy. What’s the point of being so bitter, it’s genuinely so unproductive

There's no bitterness, it's simply an unwillingness to support the same women who demand men be "allies" when it suits them, but when men need support for anything there's nothing from them but ... <crickets> ...

There's no empathy for anyone who wants female superiority at men's expense, just as you would have no empathy for one race demanding rights they don't want to afford to other races, because that's racist in just the same way feminists are sexist against men.

So no, it's not "cynical", it's survival. When women expect men to remain as traditional providers and protectors, while simultaneously expecting men to support women by displacing men in STEM, CEO's, political, etc positions, men suffer.

SO that's why you see men pulling back their support, not playing the game anymore, and hence why you see the women complain on social media "where are all the good men? Why don't men pursue me anymore, why won't men mentor women, why won't men pay for dates and pay for my other children ???"....

Men are fed up supporting women who expect support from men, yet provide nothing in return, you just have to look at social media to see which gender is flooding the bandwidth complaining about losing their benefits.

Women complaining about losing rights men never had, because equality looks like oppression to the privileged.

[–]-Soggy-Potato- -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In your analogy, was this black ever racist in the same way to other people ? If he was, i wonder how much of a pacifist you would be to espouse "have some empathy won't you?" ?

That’s taking it in a way that misses my point though, it’s deliberately misinterpreting or overanalysing the analogy.

It’s meant to be simplistic. If I see another person suffering over something that I don’t view as justifiable, I would try and help

I don’t care and most likely won’t know about their background or if they’re a hypocrite, I care about the injustice

It’s just victim-blaming, simple as. You’ve stereotyped pro-choice women as intolerant towards men’s issues. (When realistically most of the time it’s going to be ignorance or lack of mainstream attention).

Then what you have done is use that stereotype as an excuse to overlook or ignore the important issues women face regarding bodily autonomy.

You’ve fabricated an exaggerated opponent so you can misrepresent their side and argue against that misrepresentation rather than engaging with the actual people or issues at hand

Not to mention how Rights surrounding woman’s abortion have had many many years to grow and develop, allowing for the garnering of respect and understanding. That same time had not been given to the men’s equivalent probably due to the nature and context of the two. And Men aren’t nearly as loud concerning reproductive rights as women are. What part of that is a good excuse in ignoring the rights of another group of people?

Considering how no feminist movement, or campaign, has ever helped men's issues, only to demand men support female superiority, at men's expense, what's your point here?

Obviously feminist movements will primarily focus on tackling woman’s issues this is a silly thing to say. They don’t actively help men because they aren’t designed to, BUT that doesn’t mean they’re bad or wrong in doing what they do or that the movement should be ignored because of it

You can’t support every group of people at the same time, nothing would get anywhere. You can’t look at these types of issues through a universal lense when many problems are stemming from unique, group-specific characteristics

I’ll get to the rest in another comment

[–]p3ngwin 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s meant to be simplistic. If I see another person suffering over something that I don’t view as justifiable, I would try and help

I don’t care and most likely won’t know about their background or if they’re a hypocrite, I care about the injustice.

Well your analogy fails then because the reality is not a single individual, but a demographic is affected.

Feminists, and SJW's, identity police, etc complaining about losing a benefit men never had, yet expect men to suddenly care about their loss of privilege with reproductive rights.

Men are conscripted into wars they don't want to fight, men have no right not to be circumcised, etc and you only have to see the backlash when it's even suggested "Equality" is granted to women so they are also forced into wars lol

I don’t care and most likely won’t know about their background or if they’re a hypocrite, I care about the injustice

Men care about the injustice of women denying men's rights, and need for equality, so what's your point ?

It’s just victim-blaming, simple as.

Nope, women losing a privilege men never had is equality, just the wrong direction, instead of both genders getting rights, women lost their privilege and now neither gender has body autonomy.

Funny how you view women having a privilege that men never had as "women are the victims and you're victim-blaming!".

You’ve stereotyped pro-choice women as intolerant towards men’s issues.

I've labeled women who demand men "use their voice" as the same hypocrites who told men "no uterus, no opinion" on women's body autonomy AKA "abortion rights". So yes, intolerant to men's issues.

You’ve fabricated an exaggerated opponent so you can misrepresent their side and argue against that misrepresentation rather than engaging with the actual people or issues at hand

Nothing fabricated about it, not a single feminist movement in history has fought for men's issues, that's a fact, and women today who say men should shut up one moment about women's body autonomy, then the next breath demand men "use their voice" are a problem for men's issues.

Not to mention how Rights surrounding woman’s abortion have had many many years to grow and develop, allowing for the garnering of respect and understanding. That same time had not been given to the men’s equivalent probably due to the nature and context of the two.

What has that to do with the history of women fighting AGAINST men's rights, from alimony reform, child custody reform, child support reform, reproductive rights, draft reform, etc ?

And Men aren’t nearly as loud concerning reproductive rights as women are. What part of that is a good excuse in ignoring the rights of another group of people?

I'm sorry, women acting against men's rights is men's fault for not being "loud" enough, and you want to talk about "victim blaming" women ??

Obviously feminist movements will primarily focus on tackling woman’s issues this is a silly thing to say.

They don’t actively help men because they aren’t designed to, ....

Feminists are NOT for equality for men and women you say ?

Got it.

So what's your problem with men focussing on men's issues then ?

... BUT that doesn’t mean they’re bad or wrong in doing what they do or that the movement should be ignored because of it

Have you not been listening?

Feminist movements have ACTIVELY fought against men's rights for their entire existence. Yet you want men to support the very demographic that ogresses men ?

Listen to yourself with the genders reversed:

Obviously men's rights movements will primarily focus on tackling men's issues this is a silly thing to say.

They don’t actively help women because they aren’t designed to, BUT that doesn’t mean they’re bad or wrong in doing what they do or that the movement should be ignored because of it.

We're done here.

[–]-Soggy-Potato- -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Your later points sort of lead back to what I say in the 1st comment. It’s making up scenarios to battle and argue against in order to avoid or ignore the actual issue.

I’m not gunna let you get away with the misrepresentation and victim blaming, but I’ll try elaborate on it a little more

You support women who demand rights that men don't have ?

I’m not childish or bitter to the point of trying to halt positive change just because it doesn’t apply to me so… yes

Not as if that really applies to the topic of abortion thought because the ‘rights’ aren’t as directly comparable as ppl and desperately trying to say they are

Do you think men should roll over and always support feminists when they want something, no matter how much it devalues men ?

Does a woman having the right to an abortion devalue men though? These points really don’t apply to the topic. I’m not too keen on making up clearly exaggerated scenarios to justify not helping people who need it

There's no bitterness, it's simply an unwillingness to support the same women who demand men be "allies" when it suits them, but when men need support for anything there's nothing from them but ... <crickets> ...

That is bitterness lol

Like in my other comment, you’re just generalising / stereotyping a group of people to demonise their stance and justify not helping the greater good

You’re letting a biased perspective of a group of people get in the way of positive change

There's no empathy for anyone who wants female superiority at men's expense, just as you would have no empathy for one race demanding rights they don't want to afford to other races, because that's racist in just the same way feminists are sexist against men.

Same ideas as before, a woman’s right to abortion isn’t about female superiority. Men don’t give birth, men cannot abort a child from their body, therefore women aren’t one-upping men

Rights aren’t a competition, stop trying to make them into one.

So no, it's not "cynical", it's survival. When women expect men to remain as traditional providers and protectors, while simultaneously expecting men to support women by displacing men in STEM, CEO's, political, etc positions, men suffer.

Most major veins of feminism don’t really support tradition. It’s contradictory to the values of the movement.

SO that's why you see men pulling back their support, not playing the game anymore, and hence why you see the women complain on social media "where are all the good men? Why don't men pursue me anymore, why won't men mentor women, why won't men pay for dates and pay for my other children ???"....

Not really relevant to abortion. Supporting traditional gender roles isn’t the same as supporting abortion

Men are fed up supporting women who expect support from men, yet provide nothing in return, yo just have to look at social media to see which gender is flooding the bandwidth complaining about losing their benefits.

See what you’ve done though?

You’ve turned the issue of abortion into this broad, social issue of conflict between the traditional historic nuclear family, feminism, and hypocrisy

It’s misrepresentation, you aren’t addressing the actual issue

It’s dressed up victim-blaming. You say ‘Your issue isn’t valid and I shouldn’t care because you don’t help men’ and then go on to outline a distinct and separate issue men have to act as a parallel when the two are not at all identical

Men’s reproductive rights aren’t the same as woman’s reproductive rights, understanding that will stop you from making all these false equivalents and turning the issue of abortion into a competition.

It’s just not a justifiable stance to take and I think you know it, hence why you dress it up in all this fancy waffle, because stripped down it isn’t justifiable. It’s just a shame for you that I’m not stupid enough to let you distract me from the actual issue itself

I’m not gunna let you get away with

..I’m not childish or bitter to the point of trying to halt positive change just because it doesn’t apply to me...

You're going to have to let it go, because your constant need to make personal attacks, from calling people "cynical", "bitter" and "childish" isn't the way to relate to people you want to have civil discourse with.

Men’s reproductive rights aren’t the same as woman’s reproductive rights,

The fact you think men don't deserve the same rights to body autonomy as women is astounding o.O

I'm not going to waste my time reading the rest, as i said in my other comment, we're done here.

Why speak up for a group of people that don't speak up for us? I saw a tweet from a Twitter account that's focused on men and they tweeted something about men dying faster than women. Well, all of the replies from liberals/feminists were saying "who cares?" and doing a lot of whataboutism about women dying at the hands of men. And they were also saying that men dying sooner was a good thing and that no one should care because women losing their abortion rights was more important.

It's shit like that that makes me lose any little sympathy I had left for them.

[–]StingRayFins 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Men never had any say in anything so leave us alone. You wanted all the choice and power so get together with all your "strong and independent don't need any man" women and figure it out.

[–]-Soggy-Potato- -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

For men it’s nuanced though, leaning into more of a moral issue which is harder to pin down

But for women it is healthcare

The rights being infringed upon are different, oversimplifying the context hurts both issues

[–]knightbane007 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

The issue there is that by framing it that way, you open the logical option to support abortion only in cases where the health of the mother is in danger.

If any other causes are to be considered valid, up to and including pregnancy caused by rape, then the issues are exactly equivalent - in the US, there is legal precedent in pretty much every state that says that a male rape victim can, and will by default, be forced to pay child support to the person who raped him. It is logically inconsistent to the point of mental dissonance to support “abortion in case of rape” while refusing to consider “paternal emancipation in case of rape”.

And the same logic applies to all other motivations for abortion apart from healthcare. If you support unrestricted abortion (and I mean that in the actually reasonable sense of unrestricted up until a not-ridiculously-short threshold, not the right-wing strawman of “the day before birth!!!!!”)), then the right to unilateral paternal emancipation in that same window is very logically an inextricable equivalent right.

The decision to abort can and must be the decision of the woman alone. And the reasoning of “I do not wish to become a parent yet” is perfectly acceptable - but the man has to have the same right to say exactly the same thing.

[–]-Soggy-Potato- 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good point, my mistake

I was trying to point out how men aren’t physically carrying or giving birth to a life. Hence why the topic of abortion itself is more nuanced

It was worded badly, I mixed up this notion of physicality or tangible impact under healthcare when that’s just one point under the wider umbrella

Basically for abortion:

Tangible / physical = women = not nuanced

Intangible / non-physical = men = nuanced

And that this push towards seeing the topic of abortion as directly comparable or placing parallels between discussion surrounding the two doesn’t make sense / shouldn’t be treated to an identical standard

The irony of this shallow unevolved ststement by MM, is that men are being told they have no right to an opinion about the killing of children, or no right to not have the opinion they are instructed to have.

My reaction:

All that happened is that it is now a state's choice, no longer federal. Pro-abortion and live in a state that allows abortion and nothing for you has changed. Live there and hate abortion? Don't have one or move.

Live in a pro-life state and you are pro-abortion? I recommend moving.

[–]-Soggy-Potato- 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is very out of touch though

Not everyone is that privileged though, for many women, just ‘moving out’ isn’t a remotely realistic option. It sort of missed the point that the most vulnerable people will be the poor / uneducated / young. Not the characteristics you want to force a child into

[–]DirtyPartyMan -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I feel similarly. And, theoretically, this would be a simple fix.

But the economy, inflation, gas…….everything is keeping people right where they are

[–]Angryasfk 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Posts like this are why I don’t come back to this page. Men and women have different needs. The majority of commenters here can’t wait to bend the argument back to include themselves. We spend enough time banging on about circumcision and resulting health concerns but when we’ve to apply empathy to a different population with parallels, it gets cynical and honestly childish going by replies here. Lads, cop on to yourselves.

[–]buried_alive0 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I see these responses as being expected, because women have never cared about men's issues and rights and supporting feminism in furthering women's piriviledges and rights would only increase the inequality.

But, in your opinion, what would be a propper response to this?

[+]CircleToShoot -8 points-7 points-6 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It would be my opinion then.

[–]SomeonePleaseKillMe1 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I agree with you that these replies are getting annoying, but keep in mind that issues like circumcision have been ignored LONG before the overturn, and countries like Canada who don't have to worry about this are ignoring these issues as well. There's an empathy gap between men's and women's rights in the West and it's in the spotlight now. People in this sub were bound to be dicks about it. No point in fueling them further.

[–]CircleToShoot -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Hence why I’m not around here anymore. It became so predictable; opportunities to display rationality in exterior arguments present themselves to MRAs time and time again. And time and time again, the response is a collective cynicism. What the mainstream needs to experience is a men’s rights movement that isn’t absolutely intolerable and it’s never ever offered, then those conversations on circumcision can begin in earnest. It’s never mature or measured. It’s catty, whataboutery, childish terminology and downvotes if you don’t agree. I’m past that.

[–]SomeonePleaseKillMe1 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It’s catty, whataboutery, childish terminology and downvotes if you don’t agree. I’m past that.

To be fair, you could argue that's how the biggest movements start out similarly. You need a lot of "whataboutery" for circumcision for example, the double standards involved is one of the greatest arguments against the practice.

[–]W0EMAN -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I see a lot of men in here saying we shouldn't speak up for women because they don’t speak up for us. I understand where this stance comes from but not speaking up about Roe V Wade for the sole purpose of thinking it is a women's issue is debilitating to our life and womens. It also alienates us even further from creating a more positive dialogue between men and women about male issues.

Roe V Wade effects men on many levels. It stunts our growth from pursuing a life we want as men when we are left bringing a child into the world that we weren't prepared for. We give up careers, education and interests to create a stable life for a child.

It also adds to the stereotype of absent fathers which we should fight and stand up for ourselves against. There are many men who leave mothers to raise children because they aren't ready to be fathers and there will be more men to come because of this law.

More kids will also end up in the adoption and foster systems as well as systems that struggle to tackle predatory and violent behavior. And that's the same system for men and women.

It is also fundamentally up to us to be more coherent and take on the role of providing contraception. It is far more normalised for women to take some form of contraceptive than men to provide a condom. Because of this law we can no longer rely on women to provide contraception or use daft "pull out methods".

This law effects us more than we care to realise. And the more we start to have these conversations the more we can become allies for ourselves and not just women.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why don't you look up abortion laws in Europe and compare it with US state laws?

In Germany abortion is legal only in first 12 weeks and that too with required mandatory counselling. In France it is 14 weeks.

In New York and California, abortion is legal up until 24th week.

So by your bigoted standard American men are much more advanced than European men.
