I think and hope so. We have similar values and goals, and have both had enough relationship experience to be very pragmatic about the ups and downs we can expect to encounter over time. He supports me emotionally in ways that are very good and has a deeply collaborative approach to our partnership that is amazing to experience. I want to keep leveling up together. Nothing about our relationship from the way it started to the timeline of “milestones” were what people would generally consider normal so I’m not really worried about things that usually contribute to relationships breaking down.

We’ve worked through mistakes and life events of varying severity already, I get along really well with his family, and as far as I know there aren’t any deep dark secrets being hidden from either party. We already know we can live on a tight budget if needed.

There are obviously things that could cause serious strain on our relationship but we’re also both willing and able to work through things together.

But I really really really want this to work out. We want to try and make that the case. Both of us are realistic about the odds and not living in fantasy fairy tale land, but on the same note we also both come to the relationship with the knowledge of what you need to put into it to make things work. So it’s got more of a chance than any of either of our young and stars in our eyes relationships did (which obviously didn’t last).

At the very least we both know anything we do in our future will be in the interest of our children. There are too many examples of people behaving in completely selfish ways despite having kids who should really be given the benefit of parents who behave in their interest. So our “til death” commitment is with regard to that.

I have three long term relationships. I don't see them ending any time soon. If they stop being desired by the people in them, they will end. But I feel really secure that these connections are long term and that both people are willing to put in hard work if things stop working for one or both of us.

That’s the plan, it’s my fourth serious, long term relationship but the first one I could actually see myself with indefinitely without having any doubts. It just feels right and there are no limits to what I would do for us. Unfortunately I believe his life expectancy is lower than mine. I hope that’s not the case, but if it is, I’m unsure I’d want to date again. It took me a decade to find a partner I clicked with this well, I doubt I could do it again. Anyone else would always be compared to my current partner, consciously or subconsciously, and it would be hard for them to measure up. It probably wouldn’t be fair to them.

It's definitely my goal. We both put the work in to maintain what we have because outside of caring for each other we mutually feel like it's counterproductive to breakup with someone over minor issues because you'll have arguments with anyone.

When you start to blend your finances, goals, families etc. it becomes easier to fight for the relationship to work.

I do. We’re morally aligned (to a T) and we have parents who are still married. We also waited until we were married to move in together so we’re pretty traditional and old school. We’re happier than our friends who did it the opposite way. They sometimes show up to gatherings without each other because of fights. We knew we wanted kids from our first date. We have one now and he’s only grown our closeness as a couple since we have a bigger purpose than each other or ourselves.

If things stay the way they have been the last 8 years we've lived together i have no doubt. But that said people change and you can't control it. My ex got a brain tumor and became a totally different person, so you just never know. Enjoy every day you can, obsessing about future happiness just robs you from today.

I believe we will. We are engaged right now, but we also have extremely laid back personalities toward each other so I think if the worst were to happen where we decided we were unhappy, it’s more likely that we would probably just cruise control and do our own shit as if we were single but live in the same household and not want to deal with all of the divorce process.

I'm polyamorous so my answer applies to my boyfriend and my girlfriend. I'm in the relationship unless they walk away. When you get up from the table and walk out the door, that is the end of our relationship. As long as you're willing to sit at the table and work through shit, we're good. I've done monogamy and we thought it was till death do us part. We were wrong, but we are both much happier and happier for each other for the growth we've made post-divorce.

Simple answer: it depends.

As much as some people hate to believe it, men and women live very different lives at very different ages. Women are in their prime between the ages of 16-25 (Probably late 20s nowadays) and most make use of those years to experiment with their likes, sexuality and finding themselves. Whereas most men will struggle to experience those things during those ages. Rather, men only start to peak from 25 and up to 35. However a good portion of men are already in committed relationships by 25 that they don’t have the time to experience all those things, and when they realize that, that’s where things like cheating in marriage happens.

As with all things in live, ymmv and your question is very unlikely to find an actual answer.

Yes. I think I will be with my sugar babies that gave me children for life. Why? Because I don't do idiot things like getting married where the law says my women can leave me and get huge money.

I pay them to stay, so I think they will stay for life. I love my children, so I too will stay for life. I may get other women. But I won't leave the one that gave me children already.
