I have a good friend who had been single for a while (female, mid-late 30s) and whenever I asked what she was looking for, she would always just say 'I just want a nice guy'. However, I'm of the belief that you should pay attention to someone's ACTIONS and not just their words. Saying you just want a 'nice guy' is a 'nice' thing to say, but after knowing this woman for over a year, I KNEW she wasn't telling the truth. She's very attractive, had been on TV, very hardcore Christian, somewhat conservative - so I finally tried to get the truth out of her -

Me: "So if he's a nice guy... but he's an atheist, is that okay?"

Her: "Well no, my faith is really important to me"

Me: "And if he's a nice guy, but he's 5'2, what about that?"

Her: "Well no, I want him to be at least taller than me"

Me: "And if he's a nice guy but works at Burger King?"

Her"..."

So yeah, her BF now is a bit older than her, Christian, plays as a drummer for many bands and has more of a 'light-hearted jokester' personality than a typical 'nice guy'.

Pay attention to actions not just words.
