“I feel like, for years, I missed out on an entire facet of my personality...”

When I was in middle and high school in the early to mid 2000s, the girls, the moment they were old enough, got on BC. It was just what was done, and there was no stigma against it. Girls mainly wanted it to control for acne (at first); parents wanted it for obvious reasons.

But over the last year or two, it’s been coming to light that for a lot of women, oral BC can diminish or even completely subdue their libido and what qualities they’re attracted to in a mate. Some speculate that many divorces were a result of this, because when the women would get married, they’d get off BC, and realize that they were not nearly as attracted and compatible to/with their partner as they thought they were, but that’s a whole other rabbit whole to dive into....

Back to high school - Although teens were gonna be promiscuous teens, much of high school seemed to be a fairly tame sexual experience. Sex was nowhere near as casual nor rampant as it is nowadays. Most people never had sex outside of a relationship unless they were drunk at a party. While men were just as horny as ever, most women in my high school seemed fairly uninterested in sex. Even apprehensive of it. This doesn’t seem to line up with the current generations experience.

One camp says that due to socialization and stigma surrounding slut shaming, women weren’t able to enjoy their sexuality back then like they are now, and that’s why there is such an increase in promiscuity. The other camp is saying that half the population having their endocrine system resemble that of a eunuch...might have more to do with it.

Has anyone had any experience with this personally? Anyone’s experiences around women on BC from 10+yrs ago line up? I know there are women here who have had that light switch effect with their own libido due to BC.
