Men and women experience sexuality differently. There's a reason why we hear about men being friendzoned more than women. I know a lot of people are gonna say it's just about looks but I don't buy that. IMO that's thinking with male sexuality. Men quite frequently fall in love with their female best friends because all it really takes for a man to fall in love is Looks + "Do I Enjoy Spending Time With Them". Women, however, require more than this. For one, they're often attracted to masculinity. A man who waits to let you know he's attracted to you is not seen as masculine. Secondly, women often have reactive sexuality. Let's look at another example:

When on a date with a woman, most men have to learn that if he talks to her like one of his male friends, she likely won't be interested in a romantic relationship with him. As a man, he starts out thinking, "Well, she looks good, all that's left to do is find out if we're compatible! Let's talk about interests and values to know if we're a match!" The man thinks this because "looks good" and "I want to sleep with this person" are connected in his mind. For women, however, these are two entirely different boxes. She might have initial interest in a guy, but that doesn't mean she's sold on the idea of sleeping with him. Often, she won't even be able to imagine it without some combination of humor / confidence / flirtation from the guy. That's why men often find women more interested when they just focus on goofy riffing rather than any serious attempts to get to know the woman.
