Airsoft, Weightlifting, MMA, Cars/Track Racing, Fashion, Videogames, and just general athletic healthy shit like running, hiking, diet, supplements, etc…. All these made my social skills grow and opens up avenues for dating and making friends.
[–]Agitated_Character41 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
How does one make supplements a hobby?
[–]ZepperV2 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
I like researching and being up to date with nootropics/supplements as new studies come out pretty frequently. I also make my own pilled supplements so my room sometimes looks like a drug lab.
I started with science based bodybuilding then eventually found supplements to be very much connected to it.

Hahah, that sounds very familiar, props to you man! Also, airsoft is the best cardio. Do you by any chance play Tarkov?
[–]ZepperV2 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I actually started running just so I can sprint more in Airsoft lmao. You can’t sprint all the time unlike in COD. I used to play Tarkov but I stopped because it was too stressful for me, didn’t like doing quests at all.

One hobby??? You don't have to hold out for some all-consuming lifelong passion. Just go try something and if you like it do it again. Do that for awhile and soon you'll have a nice variety of hobbies.
P.S. Volunteering for a good cause is a great hobby.
[–]BlancheCorbeau 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Don't knock volunteering for a bad cause. That can be all sorts of fun, and in some ways even more fulfilling.
[–]DangleSlang 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Wow, you're right.. I've never even considered that as an option but that would be way more interesting than the good causes. Just think of all the weirdos you'd meet at a flat earth awareness event or something. Then you'd have endless content for storytelling too.
[–]BlancheCorbeau 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
yeah. Also, don't knock learning various non-profit grifts!
I mean, this IS r/seduction, so at least some of us are already familiar with the concept of fighting disingenuously for a seemingly-worthy cause... And certainly even the grossest pickup tactics and community lunkheadery has valuable/tranferrable lessons to teach!
[–]DangleSlang 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Singing, Playing Musical instruments (I can play three), Cooking, Weightlifting, Reading, And Movies (I have seen practically every movie on the planet from different countries and times). I also like classical music.
[–]awhitesong 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
This is pretty much me. Singing, Playing Instruments (I can play 3 - Guitar, Piano, Harmonica), Cooking, Workout (Mostly HIIT everyday), Reading (Non Fic), High reflex games (Multiplayer FPS/Moba - was a member of a T1 COD clan in university), Sports (Hiking, Skiing, Swimming), Tech (I'm a dev by profession), Math (again comes from profession). I also like classical Music (Indian Classical) and Metal. I don't usually watch movies at home but I usually find myself in theatre once a month. I used to collect coins when I was a child but after collecting currencies from a hundred countries or so I left it 15 years ago. I used to sketch a lot until 8th grade as well. I don't do all of these at once of course but I can't live without one. It's been like this ever since I was a child.
My current schedule is just an "article read" in the morning, 30 min workout, and electric guitar practice before bed. That's it.
[–]ChildSlayer30012 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

[–]swissarm 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
How do you meet people? I play guitar and piano but it’s always been a solo activity for me
[–]awhitesong 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
You can always record it and post it on Instagram/YouTube. I don't go out of my way to meet people. As I said, I'm a developer by profession and playing instruments is my hobby. Most people I interact with are either from work or sometimes the friends from University decide to meet. You can still go to Hiking/Meetups or Bars to play live. But yeah, posting on Insta, showing it to FB friends, and moving to YouTube is a good way to start and make a move from solo to public. You could also find some people online (Insta, reddit, other forums) to start a band with or attend some music festivals.
[–]ChildSlayer30011 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Posting your recordings on instagram seems like the best way to introduce people to your hobbies. You can also go to a park/any public place to just play in peace. [doesn't work very well if you're afraid of people looking at you].
Apart from that, you can go direct. Just walk up to a girl and say "Hey you look cute, can I sing for you?". If you're a good singer she'll blush like hell.

Muay Thai. Would highly recommend taking up a martial art like MT, BJJ, Judo, etc. It’s life-changing
[–]Larryech 4 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link
Can you please explain how it changed your life?
[–]drereps 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I do MMA as well and I suppose the amount of discipline, learning and self change you go through is what makes it life changing. You look at yourself in the mirror in a better way along with knowing you are capable of defending yourself.
It also gives you humility, as you’re going to get beat up a lot in sparring / rolling. Idk how to really explain it, try a month of classes and you’ll see.
[–]MO_drps_knwldg 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep, well said. Can only explain so much; like you said, have to experience firsthand to understand the benefits.
[–]MO_drps_knwldg 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The other commenter below covered a lot of it, but this is my personal experience:
Humility. Sparring and drilling with others who are more advanced is a humbling experience, and motivates you to learn.
Resilience. It’s physically demanding. Some days you don’t want to go in and put yourself through an intense workout, but pushing through gives an immense sense of pride.
Confidence. Knowing that you can at least handle yourself in a physical confrontation is a powerful feeling. This is another area that teaches you humility. You understand how dangerous physical confrontation can be, so you don’t walk around thinking you can beat everyone up, like if someone talks shit. You know if you got jumped or someone took a swing, you could at least handle the situation so you can get out of it effectively.
It’s also good for building social skills. You partner up with people to drill (hit pads/gloves) and practice. You have to communicate and get physical with relative strangers.
Like the other guy said, explaining in words can only do so much. Highly recommend you take a class and see for yourself. Most gyms usually offer a trial class class or two.
[–]blatantlybanal 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
How did you start? Did you just sign up for a class?
[–]Kenan_benan 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I do Muay Thai, just go find a few gyms in your area, ask about a free class, do all the free classes at all the gyms you thought about going to than make your Choice of where you wanna train then sign up and show up
[–]MO_drps_knwldg 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep, just signed up for a free class, and signed up for a membership. Most gyms will offer trial lessons.

I wanted to learn for a long time but im scared lol what's the first couple of sessions like?
[–]MO_drps_knwldg 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I wouldn’t worry. They don’t make you spar or fight anyone. Most gyms are very careful about who they let spar for safety reasons.
There’s going to be light physical contact, because you hit pads, but it won’t be anything you can’t handle. That’s my experience at least.
Give it a try. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to sign up.
[–]nbh1995 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
yeah I will! I went to boxing before covid started but then covid started...I have always had this paralyzing fear of physical conflict because I was bullied as a kid and never stood up to the bully. I am also not so big (5'8) so a lot of people feel like they can throw threats at me like its nothing. How tall are you if you don't mind me asking and also how did martial arts affect your life?

[–]some_guy_claims 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I took up volleyball as soon as I moved to a new city. Started with a social league to learn the gist then started showing up to local pickup courts. It’s a really socially open community so I quickly made friends with people and got on the local WhatsApp group. From there I had a whole circle of people to meet. I did it to make friends not hunt for girls. It’s also a small community so dont be a creep. Better to use those friends to be introduced to their friends.

Looking for a hobby IS a hobby, if you're diligent about looking. Try all the things! Reserve some of the more exotic oand/or fun attempts for date ideas, whether they wind up being viable hobbies or not.
I've had great luck with gardening, personally... But I've tried almost every board-on-water sport, painting, writing, and various types of video production. But still, I don't think I have a hobby that makes my eyes shine the way I see in others sometimes... And I may never find a discrete thing like that. But just foraging for fun, and insights into what others enjoy in their spare time or makes them feel super passionate about... is a pretty great hobby in itself, I think.
What it really comes down to is this: if you haven't found your thing, then BE a seeker. If you discover something new that sounds like no, say YES. If it's scary, boast about how scary it was after you tried it.

There was a time I was looking for mine too, so here is my advice: Just try everything that sparks in your mind. It may or may not turn out to be your hobby, but the important thing is that you tried.
Eventually you will find it, and on the way you will have so much fun and things to learn.

I paint sometimes but recently i have been reading more. I do exercise and am learning few other skillset but i dont consider that hobby as its mostly for work right now or something i want to do in future.
With reading, it varies a lot (philosophy, finance and psychology mainly).. for seditor's purpose.. i would suggest David Buss books and papers which are actual research. In order to get introduced to his stuff, you can type him in spotify or youtube and listen to an interview of him (on a podcast that you like). I have found a lot more benefit in learning about myself and realizing my cognitive/psychological biases and being aware of it. His stuff is mainly on male and female evolution psychology stuff which is very fascinating. I have seen a lot of dating advice (here and a lot in youtube) which are geared to wards the Dark Triad trait.. which is horrible in long term.
Another one i highly recommend are Mark Mansions, models and subtle art of not giving a fuck. For these, i recommend audiobook. I have SAONGAF in audiobook and listened to the book multiple times. The models, had some really good exercises and basic stuff on posture, vocal, few other specific things which fell under honest living (or lifestyle). I have realized these small exercises have definitely helped me identify my weakness and improve on them and i have already noticed the imporvement in social and professional settings.
[–]BangaiiWatchman 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This is a really interesting comment. I’ve never heard of David Buss but I’m very interested now to learn more.
I actually just finished Mansons SAONGAF and have to say I wasn’t to impressed with it. There’s a lot of good stuff in there but it’s a bit cringey at some points. I think I’m going to read Models next though. Thanks for sharing!
[–]Mr_Wasteed 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ya the SAONGAF was not the mind blowing thing. I already am practicing stoicism so it was a good listen. I did find 3-4 things that were really useful to me.

[–]BangaiiWatchman 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I’m also into weight lifting and have been trying to be vegan/vegetarian the past few months. Can I ask what you eat to get enough protein to build muscle?
Peanut butter sandwich is my go to, but anything else?
[–]Leomko2 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I hesitated to become a vegetarian/vegan for a long time thinking I won’t get enough protein. But it’s much easier than I thought. There’s a lot of protein in for example tofu, tempeh, lentils, beans and chickpeas. There are a lot of little tricks you can do, like throwing in some beans or chickpeas whenever you make a sauce for your rice or noodles. It hardly changes the taste and you’ll get a lot of protein from it. I also stopped using noodles made from wheat and instead use noodles made from lentils. In the end I can only encourage you to try it out for a week or a month. You’ll realise how easy it is. Start with a vegetarian diet. Once you dialed your new diet in you can think about going vegan. (There’s obviously vegetarian/vegan protein powder as well)

[–]Mr_Wasteed 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
with the philosophy club, is it in a school setting? If not is it like a meetup? How do you organize or find one? I have been looking for one so i am quite intrigued in finding or organizing one.
[–]gmos905 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Not a school setting, no. Essentially I host them at my house every Tuesday, between 10-20 people, I buy snacks, have a topic we're discussing each day, with a few questions about the topic, then to start we network for 30-40 minutes, then cover the ground rules and topic of the day, then break into groups to discuss for an hour, then we meet up again at the main table and discuss what we learned.
For organizing them, mostly i just announce it in entrepreneur groups in my city and then people usually bring a +1 as well so it grows like that.
[–]Mr_Wasteed 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Interesting.. additional question: so do you set up the topic beforehand so people can read things on it or in general a guided few questions when people meet. Ya 10-20 people seem a lot but then breaking up in groups would definitely sounds like a great idea. But overall sounds like a great experience. Thanks for sharing.
[–]gmos905 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah so 3-4 days ahead I send out a poster with the topic on it with 3-4 questions on the topic to think over and for direction. You can see some of our posters with here.
Then yeah, when going over the rules I say it's fine to branch off and the questions are just guidelines and in case someone doesn't have direction. My breakout group literally never touches the questions.

Hit the gym, best hobby there is , hands down
Fucking guns bro, join some tactical subs, and the gun sub for your state, start watching some of the big channels , invest in a handgun( sig or glock), good carry belt, duty ammo (Speer gold dot, or federal HST) and a light ( surefire, streamlight, modlight), take a course if theres one near you available,
And medicine, every team/office/family needs a medic and anyone can learn so, you can always be an asset, kinda goes hand in hand with the gun hobby and makes you much more capable as an everyday person just having a iPhone size case of basic first aid stuff , you'd be surprised got many people font, all the way up to a full IFAK (individual first aid kit) and a Tourniquet.
It goes deep and being educated on these things makes you look very desirable and you can encourage others to learn, which is always beneficial
Extra: Paint , I love it. Can do it alone or in groups , and while listening to music, nature, or silence.
Tldr: working out, guns, medicine education, extra: painting

Hobby: "an activity that someone does for pleasure when they are not working" (Cambridge Dictionary)
Therefore yours aren't hobby.
Answering your question: Perfumes, dressing with style, learning how to dance, having real hobbies you do for pleasure
[–]hungarian_builder -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Working is the pleasureful activity for me. Hobbies are just to not seem boring at a young age. I can't really grasp how a grown man could do such things when there is so much work to do. The dressing and dancing is a good recommendation for attraction. Thank you very much

I don't know if I have hobbies, I like to learn and watch movies and such, I'm always trying to read whatever I happen to be interested in, I like to shoot hoops, workout, cook, clean, whatever. I spent a lot of time in school so I like to keep my mind sharp and informed. I also have a passion for programming and computers/software

sounds like you have hobbies!
Bodybuilding, i’m about to make my one year mark and in less than a year i went from not being able to deadlift 1 plate to deadlifting 3 plates and a 10 for 1, it’s so therapeutic i at least ask you to try it out and if you don’t like it then move on and find something else.

I love motorcycles (and cars too), travelling (try to travel to one country a month. Hiking and climbing mountain on regular basis as well) and photography (not just taking photos, but editing them for hours too. Getting into videographylately as well). They all 3 just compliment each other soo nicely. I try to do one or two road trips across Europe and just get lost in all three of those.
I also love DIY and active sports too (snowboarding and sky diving).
As for sports, HUGE fan of f1. It's the only sport that I know and love. I don't watch races again. But ever since I started to watch them in 2010, I know winners of each race ever since. My brain is that invested in that sport.
Hobbies are one area of life that I got no complaints over. I don't need anyone else for it. I have good collection of them so that I can enjoy them while I am locked in my room and also when I go outside.
I do dislike excersise, but I want to live a good life for as long as possible so have to do it. Walking with a camera and heavy bag is how I get most of my cardio. Finding new music is how I motivate myself to lift weights
[–]n0wmhat 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
how do you afford the Europe trips?
[–]pineapplejamm 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
They are not as expensive as you may think. When i travel by plane, ryan air usually do them for £20-30 return. As i travel alone, i choose hostels due to their social environment. They are roughly £10-20 a night, with most offering breakfasts (oats and milk is my goto). I don't generally eat lunch, just some snacks while i am exploring. I do go overboard with dinner though. Ends up £10-20 just for me. I don't drink alcohol so do save up there. I am a systems engineer - salary is not eye rolling exactly. Pretty average.
But if i go to a country for 4 days (last place in europe was south of france) - i ended up spending just under £135 including fligts. Doesnt break my bank and i can do it twice over a month easily. Better than going to club with mates if i am honest
Edit: roadtrips does become wayy more expensive though. But its worth it. Last one i went was in 2019 summer. I went from UK all the way to Italy on my motorbike. It was for 10 days and I wasn't exactly saving money. My total bill for that was around £1100.
Fuel was the most expensive element. I was riding through mountain roads and didn't care about economy. Half of my spending was fuel. Then you have tolls and mountain pass fees.
Still though...its worth the hassle. I loved it and makes me happy.
oh are you coming from the uk?

I am a cinephile, I watch movies not because I look for entertainment or I have free time. I make free time just to watch good movies and understand the culture, societal norms, philosophy of life of a land and people that I never visited nor met anyone from there. So it fills the void of need to travel but can only do it in my comfort zone. So Cinema watching and discussing the complexity of life through its lens gives me some pleasure that I cannot find in any social settings or from any human.
[–]dw-herrmann 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
For me it's photography, cooking, enjoying movies (I know, everybody does, but really I love them), web design/dev (as a designer it's fun to have a side business where you can do all the stuff, you really want to do, not the ones, the boss tells you to do).
What are your interests? Especially the ones, that could develop into a hobby

I can’t say that these hobbies have really improved my “confidence”. (I still find that to be a nebulous and contentious topic)
Partner dancing (blues, lindy hop, fusion, Argentine tango, kizomba, bachata, etc… tried a lot of them). <- probably the best way to get good at interacting with women with low stakes and getting used to touching people.
Woodworking, driving/fixing cars, motorcycle riding/rebuilding, lots of DIY type stuff around the home, and typical old fashioned “manly” stuff where you’d normally hire a professional, I’ll just do it myself. Photography is a big one but it’s very off/on and something I used to enjoy more with my wife (I did like doing it alone at a point but got tired of it).
Gonna be real with you though - I have a large list of hobbies beyond what I’ve listed. Women are neither impressed nor interested. None of them give a single shit when I mention anything I’ve ever been super interested in or have accomplished. So if you’re doing this to impress women - don’t expect it.
That said - women are impressed when you do something. Fixing shit for them - teaching them stuff - wowing them with your skills, etc. That is what is attractive. Telling them though or showing them something? Not usually that attractive… So, food for thought there.

Go to some (free) introduction lessons for salsa and any other dance styles, martial arts or other activities. There should be plenty to find. You can meet people there, or ask girls along to be your dance partner.
Hobbies like biking are fun cause you learn to be a mechanic half the time while getting cardio and learning tricks or exploring nearby places for the rest.
Remote controlled vehicles are fun cause you get the building and experimenting experience like with Lego's but you learn about electronics and engineering stuff along the way and you can trade parts and race with people or hang out in public places and let people try.
Growing plants and mushrooms is fun cause you will build discipline in taking care of them, and the more time you've put in, the more invested you will feel. People will always want to trade seeds and spore prints, and when harvest comes you can invite someone to share the trip or meal with you.
The hobby through which I've gotten in contact with most girls though is just going to raves and having fun. 100 bucks worth of trip toys and drugs will get you laid more than an expensive car or months in the gym.
