It's the kind of thing that's so broad and loosely defined it's become meaningless but also impossible to disprove for that reason.

Yes I think hypergamy is a thing with some women, but not all women, like the red pill thinks. I’ve seen too many women stay with their husbands through bad times like job loss and cancer to know this isn’t AWALT.

I also have to laugh when I read red pill posts about all women being willing to dump their men for someone better, then reading posts from the same group about upgrading their wives when they get old or getting a young mistress when their wives get old or using dread game to make sure their wives or girlfriends know that they can be replaced anytime. That’s totally fine it seems :/.

And no, I don’t think washing dishes or showing emotion is a sign of weakness, but wanting to be mothered and coddled is unattractive, so using her as a emotional sponge all the time may make her lose attraction, as well as not being able to clean up after himself. I think it has nuggets of truth, but I don't give it any credence.

Both men and women are looking to date the 'up', but I think women get less apathetic in a relationship and are more likely to try and change things. Whilst they are more likely to seek divorce, they are also more likely to seek couples therapy to fix their marriage and schedule 'date nights'. TRP conveniently misses that second fact and pushes the 'monkey branching' thing.

I don't think that women would up and leave relationships if someone better came along. If this was the case then most relationships wouldn't last more than a few months.

No. I think that men need to pass a bar of attractiveness and after that personality traits (being safe, emotionally stable, kind, masculine ect) are traits that determine whether she will LTR him or not. I think sex is generally very important for women but sometimes sex lives go down hill after several years (for a variety of reasons).

When Red Pill users explain hypergamy to me, it makes little sense, but from what sense I can make of it I think it is a rather dull observation. People tell me hypergamy is that “women seek partners who are equal or better than them” or something along those lines. This is roughly my criticism of it and why I do not find this observation amazing.

Hypergamy, as I have had it described by other people and the definition I understand you are working with, that women are always looking for the “best next thing” or the branch swinging etc. Still yields the same problem. I will start with something easier to understand as an example: “all men are rapists”.

Suppose I believe all men are rapists. This would mean that if you are a male, you are a rapist. Let us suppose someone interjects by saying that they know a lot of people who are men and did not rape, then I argue back “every man is a potential rapist or has the capacity too” or “he may not be a rapist yet, but in this very specific circumstances he would rape”. Most people would be rather skeptical that this is a good description of male behavior as most men are not going to rape. It would be like saying all people are killers because in specific circumstances they would kill or all people are great artists because in some circumstances people are.

The same thing applies to hypergamy. It is just saying that “every woman is potentially hypergamous”, which is a dull observation. Now if a woman describes her marriage, and how much she loves her “beta” husband, then at some point she just leaves him for someone better then Red Pill users will say “this is proof of hypergamy”, but then in the case she stays with him until one of them dies it can be retorted “well you know she would have if the opportunity came up”.

At some point the description becomes vacuous and just a terrible way to describe human behavior. On top of that there is a logical error being made here; that “all women are hypergamous” is a synthetic statement and what woman are actually going to do is an analytic one and they must demonstrate the latter, which is often not done(I can expand on this if you want, this is a really common error). So I find this observation uninteresting on this account.

It reveals a side that most people wish to bury. And sometimes you have to get mad at people, so you can grasp and confront your own flaws.

I think if RP took the time to do just this they wouldn't be in this hate filled echo chamber. Instead of recognizing their mistakes in a prior realtionships, they blame it all on AWALT behavior. Even their self improvement is clouded in negative connotation. They didn't take ownership of themselves because they wanted to improve themselves, they did it because they believe women's immature behavior was the reason for the decline in the realtionship.

I believe, for some of them that were in a realtionship, it was them acting as the oldest teenager in the house, that caused their wives/gf to get bored or lose sexul attraction. Instead of admitting just that, they flipped it around on women to rationalize away their own past teenage behavior. They created a "scorecard realtionship". Because AWALT innate behavior did X, then I have to do X. Still waiting on a woman to define them.

I think that they use hypergamy as a reason for long relationships that break up, while they didn't have big problems according to the men, yet the women still choose to divorce.

Which according to the divorce subs, happens a lot. It's also a big fear of the red pill. Doing nothing wrong and getting left.

Here's the thing though, I'm pretty sure that if you can ask the woman of that relationship, that they will have a reason. On the divorce subs (again), a big complaint of the women initiating divorce is that their problems weren't being taken seriously.

Amongst others: I don't feel listened too, I feel like I'm doing more chores but he says that everything is 50/50, I asked for marriage councelling and he told me that that wasn't necessary, ...

And if you go to the divorce subs (another time) with that in mind, then you see that the men that got asked for a divorce DO acknowledge those problemen after a divorce got asked, but that they still don't take the issues seriously. "She complained about doing the dishes, that's not divorce worthy, why didn't she ask for help instead of a divorce. She didn't give the marriage a chance!".

So hypergamy seems to be the explenation for marriage problems that are more likely to be felt by the women that don't tend to be taken seriously by the men.

I truly think that redpilled guys really want to belive these things but I don't think that the reality is the way they portray it.

Hypergamy doesn't seem to have a clear definition beyond "he's better than her in some aspect". Which would also make most men hypergamous since relationships where one partner outshines the other in every way are extremely rare.

AFBB is not an intentional strategy, I just don't believe it. It's a result of stupidity or misjudgement. Since TRP targets women who fuck any hot guy they stumble across they develop a selection bias. They don't see normal women who want a relationship from the beginning and love their husbands.

Monkey branching and women's fake love and lack of empathy are concepts born out of men's insecurity and baggage. Being raised by a psycho woman or desiring them can mess up a man's world view. Men who have a good intact family and who never stick their dick in crazy don't tend to hold these beliefs.

I think hypergamy certainly exists in dating. Women will always try to seek out the best looking, highest status guy they can get. I also definitely think in the early stages of dating men are at risk of having a girl lose interest in him rapidly if she feels she can do better.

However I think the influence of hypergamy in an established relationship is overblown. First of all women can definitely love their SO and that in itself will help elevate him above other men. Second, even if you do not believe women are capable of love, I think red pill men vastly underestimate the cost-benefit to women of leaving a relationship.

Ime women won't leave relationships unless they're genuinely miserable. The risk of leaving a relationship that's good (or even average) is generally far greater than the percieved benefit of getting with slightly better man. This risk also increases the more intertwined their lives are (marriage, kids, etc). While I have seen monkey branching happening irl, it's always been in short term (<1yr) relationships or ones where things were already going downhill.

I think it comes down to the fact that men don’t hold them selves accountable. If a man is in a committed relationship, he is more likely to cheat than a woman if given the opportunity, even if the other girl is a down grade. Men usually cheat down, because it’s more about the opportunity for something new than actually cheating with someone they’ve fallen in love with.

Women are a lot smarter when it comes to cheating. It usually takes more thought, more weighing of the options. Maybe that’s why men believe in hypergamy. Because the woman would actually weigh the benefit/costs of cheating. The other man would have to be worth risking the original man for. Also, women are more likely to remain sexually faithful but end the relationship, moving on.

Which for all their crying over hypergamy, is way more moral than cheating polygamy. Men fuck anything they can then keep the LTR and live in a lie. Women, even if they “branch swing” are much more honest about it. And it’s rare to find a man that makes you want to leave the one you’re with.

But make no mistake men branch swing too. It’s just harder because they’re the pursuers, and they get rejected more than not (especially if he’s known to be in a relationship and the object of his affection is only meh about him).

It's completely healthy and natural for a person of either sex to want the best situation available to them, regardless of gender, and this doesn't include any "evolution based" inability to resist the desire for instant gratification, think in the long term, feel love or loyalty.

Hypergamy just means investing in the best possible partner. RP goes on the explain this as the best in her eyes. Which really could mean anything. Studies show people tend to over rate their spouses in most areas. We all see the people we love as better than others do so there's a leg up for most people already. It's not something I've ever had a conscious thought about. Either I like or I don't.

Loving how someone wishes to be loved... We all wish a person we loved wouldn't fall out of it and leave us. Its a nice dream to have no heartbreak. I've broken hearts, and mine has been broken. I've cried myself to sleep night after night. I've felt the pain caught in my throat and obsessed over a future lost. Once I even considered not lifting off the accelerator when approaching a roundabout. Love is conditional, it's a choice people make to keep trying, trying as a partnership and sometimes it's not enough. If a man leaves a woman RP says its because she didn't stay fit or have enough sex or something else she's not doing for him. It's just as conditional. I think, most people are reasonable in their conditions though, and many conditions people place are to protect them. In the historical gender roles, and even to this day women leave men who lost their jobs more frequently, they can't provide anymore. Men more often leave women who fall ill, chronic and terminal, when they are unable to perform their role.

Branch swinging is just easier than breaking up and starting again. I think women are not great at ending relationships as readily for one reason or another. I suspect RP maybe underestimate how often men do this with affair partners though.

I'm sure there's some sadistic type women out there but no, I don't belive most women want to cause men pain, I think things like staying in a relationship too long is sometimes a misguided attempt to avoid inflicting pain.

If we discuss the the definition from the PPD, I don't believe that it's common. People usually marry in their social and economical class, most of married couples I know have similar background, level of education and income.

I don't think so. There were studies that showed that women usually stay with their heavily ill partners and less men do the same. I also think that TRP promotes toxic masculinity, as being vulnerable and showing emotions shouldn't be consider as weakness to begin with.

It depends on your definition of love. I believe that there is a difference between "being in love" and "love" itself. The first one is a rush of hormones, they make your body like a person and want to have sex with them and always be around them. The second is deep inner feeling, when you know someone well and you value them not only for how they make you feel, but for who they are themselves. Not all people need the second type of love and not all people are capable of it, but I don't think that it depends on gender.

In general, no. If she's attracted to him, the most likely result of him showing the occasional weakness is she'll see it as endearing and that he trusts her enough to drop the stoic man facade. Always showing weakness is as much of a red flag as never showing weakness, and in those cases we'll certainly consider whether the relationship is worth it.

Kind of. But it's important to recognize that the "next best thing" could be an adjustment of the current thing. Trying new things in bed, having sex in new places, sharing a new hobby, even a trip to somewhere neither of us have been. Keeping the relationship from becoming boring is very effective, and boredom (excluding abusive relationships, of course) is the most common reason we might question our choice of partner.

Yes and no. The way RP spins it is women will fuck alphas for vagina tingles until they reach the wall and then settle for a beta so she can exploit his resources. I think hypergamy is situationally true, in that it exists but isn’t a rule or a constant. From a subjective standpoint, I watched many women in my family who were very gorgeous, wealthy, and educated choose to spend decades with men that did not even approach their level. I’ve also seen some women demand a 6’0 men or higher, or men with significant money. But then I’ve also seen men and women alike lambast that type of thinking. So there’s that too.
As a general statement—I don’t think so. I met my current s/o while he was seriously struggling with depression, and I absolutely love that we worked together to help him through it. I don’t want a soldier; I want a human being with flaws and struggles. As for other women, I think that there are some who are very hurt and very angry that do dump any guy who shows weakness, but that they are the result of very damaged outcomes. But most stable women appreciate a guy being forthcoming with weaknesses or vulnerabilities! As for alpha men, there are plenty of women that like them, but personally not one of them. I have always preferred bookish nerds, and there are plenty of women out there that are more into that too.
Same response I’d say: there are women who hop around randomly for bigger and better men, but most respectable women think they’re trash. I personally noticed my attraction to other people plummet pretty hard once I started dating my s/o, and I haven’t really felt anything except for him. There’s just something about the emotional intimacy aspect that makes romantic feelings so much more powerful, I wouldn’t want to ruin either of our happiness for something that doesn’t have that level of personal connection. That’s just me, but I really only feel that close to one person.
I think there are some women who don’t know how to cope with past or present inequalities because of sex, and they think with a revenge-oriented mindset instead of a peace and equality mindset. I was prey to this thinking years back because of the injustice I saw growing up, but it’s an awful way to think and it just makes you tired and bitter. I think the better way of seeing things now is to understand that everyone is hurt: the strict status quo has hurt men and women alike, but in different ways. There are many women who think this way or generally don’t hate men, but I would say that, of the four woman tropes, this one is more possible given poor regulation of emotions.

Are women hypergamous?

Virtually all non-married, non engaged people are hypergamous. That's the whole nature of the boyfriend girlfriend relationship. You're developing a relationship but keeping the door open to easily leave the other person. If you meet someone better, all it takes is a text to break up. There are no legal hoops to jump through and little to no social consequences for that decision.

Once engaged or married, hypergamy is less common. The guy who leaves his wife for his younger secretary, or the gal who leaves her husband for a rich CEO are both regarded as scum. Even cheaters who keep men and women on the side can't fathom why someone would do that. Some people can't even believe homewreckers exist. When they hear someone left their spouse for someone richer and better looking, they will automatically assume the marriage must have been bad to begin with.

The loss of hypergamous inclinations that many people have when they bond and commit to someone is as real as the hypergamous nature of those who cannot bond.

That brings us to the next question of whether all women are incapable of love. The answer is a resounding no. The vast majority of women are able to love. Most people learn that from their moms, sisters, friends and extended family. If your family taught you the opposite, that's aweful.

I think it’s depends on the degree of depth of the woman. Someone with little personality or obscurity is going to in theory, get along with a lot of others and therefor have many potential partners they may get along with. If the woman is good looking AND basic, she’s not going to value a man’s personality and individuality very much. So what does she look for? Looks and money. I see hypergamy demonstrated in women like this. For women who are more complex, more educated, with higher emotional intelligence- they will value a true partner and best friend. These women are too smart to trade money and temporary looks for a best friend. I don’t see educated, level-headed women often trading partners.

The men that complain all the time are for rhe most part ugly men that are generally getting the short end of the stick when it comes to dating and geting laid.

So when you talk about TRP, PPD, MRA, BP or any other male dedicated group you need to consider two different thints: the ugly fucker and the stick. These are two separated cases.

Ugly poor people always existed and will exist in the future, but the technology today makes possible to unsucesfull people to compare to others in very precise and self-arming forms through instagram, facebook, etc.

Women never "changed". They were always like that, but long time ago their sexcapades weren't to obvious like the luxury of the richest wasn't too obvious to poor people. Today it's in the open.

So, while I feel a bit repulsed by the ugly dudes winning all the time I understand they are at the recieving end of a very bad deal.

No man wants to date or marry the town bike. No man want to know his girlfriend/wife was riled by a train of guys nonstop in a girls night out. No man want the girl that "dated all the colours of the rainbow". No man would chose a girl that did anal with her ex but didn't like it so she wouldn't do it now over the girl that says "I never did it but we can try/I did it and I'm into it". No man want to date the girl that cheated on all her serious LTR with the hot ex that lives next to her door, but neither would date the girl that got cheated so many times by players that she can't trust you to go alone to the mall at 4PM.

I understand. For guys whom those are their only options, it sucks.

The solution? I don't know, but these is the state of the current affairs. Ugly guys will have to deal with it in one way or another.

Not a woman, but hypergamy is simply the behaviour that women exhibit in dating. A lot of people are saying that it is a vague concept without a clear definition, but I think that doesn't mean it is observed in reality. Just because concepts can't be precisely defined doesn't mean that they don't represent something real (Sorites Paradox).

The way I would define hypergamy is that it is the tendency of women to look for partners that are better or equal than themselves in terms of status, money and looks. We have studies that this is indeed the case (for money and status we have direct evidence, but we also have indirect evidence for looks). To me it's blatantly obvious that hypergamy is the reality of dating. Just think about the various male celebrities or famous people, they are the best example of this. They tend to be incredibly successful with women (I have witnessed this first hand with a relatively famous youtuber in the UK). The same thing cannot really be said for women who are socially up the ladder. I remember there was a female comedian on the Joe Rogan podcast saying how she experienced this as well: the male comedians would get so much attention from the opposite sex, but it wasn't really the case for her even though she was equally as famous).
