Looking through the information, one thing that stands out to me is how much she had panicked that he was going to leave her somewhere during the altercation with police intervention.

This guy has 100% left her places before and I bet that is what he did this time, left her somewhere remote where she couldn't come back.

Any guy, even if it is a joke, who tries to leave in a car without you is a LVM/NVM. Ditch his ass immediately.

Gaby's friend said he was obsessive and controlling.
To prevent her from going out with her friend - he took her licence so she had no ID to go places.

This is the NUMBER ONE reason why we should never bother to train/tell/help men learn to treat us; and instead focus on helping women learn about FDS.

I’ve spoken to many women about FDS and one of the first things that they must learn is not to accept bad behavior OR EXPLAIN it in behalf of men. It’s really key in their healing. I haven’t told a man how to treat me in years, if he doesn’t act right, I just move on. No explanation-for what?- so he can run game on the next woman? Nah, not me.

This case is so important to see how toxic relationships can be, especially for young women, how it escalates, how it's life threatening, and how still institutions can't protect women and how women who are abused are seen as just being overly emotional.

Her fiance and his family are terrible human beings. I pray that Gabby's family finds peace soon.

I got so upset when I saw comments under an article where they only showed the video footage where the officer talked to her and she admitted her "wrongdoing".
the comments were all "she must be unstable" "I bet he got just sick of her attitude" and so on. Like come on people, try at least a tiny bit harder to understand the situation.

It’s sad to say but when the news broke about her disappearance I already knew how it probably went down. This isn’t a new story; we women have heard this tale a thousand times before.

Lowkey, men are simply jealous of young beautiful women, because they want all that attention for themselves & realize they will never be that valuable or desired in society. So because they can't be that beautiful, they try to own these women. When that doesn't work, they settle for the notoriety & feelings of power they get from killing or abusing these women. 100% guilty. Best case scenario he abandoned her alive in the woods somewhere and she could still be alive. Worst case scenario, he killed her and ditched her body aomewhere. We ladies have watched enough true crime to probably figure it out though.

If someone I was travelling with was missing for even a few hours I would be notifying police, calling family, getting park rangers, and not leaving the damn area.

This story has blown up all o we the internet. I can’t believe this guy doesn’t get how sketchy he looks, not telling parents/family she might be missing, driving several days home in her van, refusing to talk to anyone, hiring an attorney and then disappearing? Good grief!

Vetting tip: don’t go on a road trip with any man unless you’ve been dating for over 6 months. Before the trip, verbalize you have a plan to check in with your BFF/mom/sister with “fun updates” or “my parents like to track my iPhone on trips just in case”. Check his reaction. If he makes a face, says it’s creepy, or it takes all the fun out; don’t go on the trip!!!!!

I think about my own situation with a controlling boy. It's not that he was cool and that I liked his dangerous side, on the contrary he was insecure and I pitied him more than anything. Before long I couldn't leave him because he was guilt-tripping me.

At some point we went on a hiking trip and he pulled some scenes. There was no physical altercation because I stayed in a good/calm mood, but he was in a bad mood because he didn't like hiking. Retrospectively though I think his anger was controlling.

His angry pouting caused him to drive recklessly and run over a dog. I exclaimed "did you just run over a dog" and he told me to shut up because "he was already feeling bad enough". As usual I immediately felt guilty and compassion for him.

Once we got on the trail, he stopped about 2 hours into a 3-day hike and said he wasn't moving anymore. He sat down and refused to walk any further. Mind you we weren't even arguing. We were just walking normally for 2 hours and he got bored.

A lot of guys won't go all the way to murder, but are assholes nonetheless. There has to be a lot of bad boyfriends who don't dare do something truly criminal for there to be a few who murder their girlfriend. You should leave even if death is rare.

Before that trip, my big brother called me and asked how my relationship was going. I said he wasn't nice to me and I felt forced to go on that trip. My brother just ignored that. It's like when doing small talk people just want to hear it's good.
