Sooo been talking to a guy for about a month. He seemingly wasn't bad: had a decent job, was empathetic, remembered things about me, clean/tidy, had a good family relationship, bought every meal/date we had and most importantly didn't say bad things about past partners nor rushed into anything. Though my vetting didn't stop.

Anyways, on our last date I thought I could bring up the "what direction are we heading towards" conversation and that was the last time I saw him. He goes on and says he likes me and wants to continue to get to know me but he really enjoys meeting new people and enjoys the feeling of getting to know people in awkward settings..? That translated to me as "I'm not ready for any commitment and want to casually meet people" as well as "I am a creep" THAT was my sign to exit. There was no way he would have met my needs as I'm not gonna stick around as an option or second choice. I hurriedly wrapped up our dinner and let him know that we aren't compatible and to not reach out anymore. He is blocked and deleted.

I was slightly bummed since I thought we had a good chemistry but who knows if that's all his act. Regardless, I'm glad I wasn't emotionally invested and I'm grateful to have so many good resources such as FDS, my therapist, and the ability to see the red flags. The 3 years ago me would have played along and be hurt again but I'm happy to learn that I am more capable to choose me and tell myself confidently that I deserve better.

This journey of hopefully leveling up is lonely and difficult but at the end of it all, its another lesson learned, another bullet dodged. 💪
