In the past 10-15 years, women have become gleefully hostile and disdainful of men they see as beneath them in some way and are now very comfortable expressing this contempt in public settings.

I don't think it's a stretch to say, saying anything openly anti-man on twitter, instagram or TikTok is tolerated if not celebrated.

From the open mocking of short men (encouraging them to commit suicide) to the more recent “Caleb” trend on TikTok, there is literally no bounds to how much vitriol can be directed at men in general, even up to and including trying to ruin the guy’s livelihood.

Twitter circle jerks result in things like lamenting “manspreading”, “mansplaining” and “toxic masculinity” with literally no nuance or context. Its overall effect is to amplify the message that men are collectively responsible for the behavior of a few douchebags (see: Gillette Ad)

From what I’ve observed personally and through observing friends, there seems to be a trend in which men, especially unattractive men, are seen as fair game and easy targets for women to play out their revenge fantasies on men.

Now, bitchy and entitled women are nothing new. But now it is literally celebrated as empowerment. A woman telling off a man for basically existing is now seen as some kind of blow against the patriarchy.

The rise of the “Karen” may be somewhat related to this, in that we as a culture are encouraging women to feel more entitled, angry and demanding than ever as some kind of payback, but the end result is a bunch of insufferable and confrontational women that see fit to shit on men at every opportunity.

In my own personal experience, I have witnessed women becoming increasingly bold and blatant about their misandry, because they know it’s a safe group to hate in an age where every other prejudice is taboo.

I don’t have data to back this anecdotal and perceived phenomenon, but I do have eyes and ears and have seen these scenarios play out with increasing frequency.

As an example, I live in a large city, and have had to attend birthdays / events at a few bars in the past 2 weeks.

In just that amount of time I (as an unattractive, older man) have experienced the following:

  • A woman angrily screaming “WHAT? WHAT? HUH?!” when I merely met eyes with her, as if I had been cat calling her (she had taken off her jacket after twerking on her friend)
  • A woman completely and openly ignoring me while I was politely thanking her for a favor she did for a friend earlier. Like I didn’t even exist.
  • Another woman coming to order a drink next to me at a bar, then raising her hand in a “talk to the hand” manner , and then flipping me off when I was sitting at a bar with a (female) friend. I literally hadn’t said a word to this person. I had to stop the female friend from beating her ass.
  • A woman accusing me, in front of people, of trying to drug her drink. I was completely across the bar and she had left to go smoke and claimed her drink had been tampered with and then literally pointed at me.

All of these post to 2 things: An increased hysteria and “stranger danger” paranoia among women towards, and an increased sense of entitlement to openly be shitty and confrontational with men they don’t like regardless of that particular man doing anything to them.

Basically, I believe that entertainment, social media and to “the media” in general have created a constant bombardment about how shitty men are to the point that women believe men should ostracized and punished at every opportunity.
