"Have you tried being rich, tall, popular, and attractive?"

Hey that's good advice! Why didn't I think of that?

[–]Ok-Development9524 44 points45 points46 points 3 years ago (38 children) | Copy Link

Just try to be rich

[–]mixing_saws 43 points44 points45 points 3 years ago (37 children) | Copy Link

Yeah because i wantca gold digger and not woman that atleast wants me for me.

[–]TheRealMekkor 20 points21 points22 points 3 years ago* (31 children) | Copy Link

"Only children and dogs are loved unconditionally, men are loved only under the condition that they can provide" - Chris Rock

But seriously there are other reasons to strive for money and success. We are just animals and you can't fault human beings for their nature. Men want a fertile (hips to waist ratio) and beautiful (symmetrical, healthy) woman. Women want a man who isn't just rich but is competent and driven enough to become rich.

The higher you climb the dominance hierarchy the better your health improves mentally, physically, and even relationships. You're biologically hard wired to work away from the bottom but few men have the cojones to sacrifice to make it to the top. And now women are giving men a run for their money, so as women earn more and beat men in college degrees they expect more from men.

Edit: accidentally attributed the quote to the wrong person, thank you to the person below for correcting my mistake.

[–]mixing_saws 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

By this logic women need to be barred from high earning jobs. Back to the 60's.

Or they stay lonely forever. I should invest in catfood companys.

[–]shit-zen-giggles 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's literaly what a large investment bank suggested in a research / strategy paper. I can't find the link right now, but it's a real thing.

[–]mixing_saws 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ok thats good to know. If you find the link let me know please.

[–]TheRealMekkor 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

It kind of goes into my statement that 'few men have cojones to compete for those jobs' it's the same for women.

Women aren't beating men out in the top earning positions, mostly because they don't pick fields that are scalable like STEM. But for average earners they are heading up HR departments, Nursing, Doctors, Psychologist people oriented fields and they are dominating middle class. So in some ways I would argue that women are right, men need to step up their game in the average earning department. I wouldn't say it's reasonable for every man to become a 6 figure earner that's my goal and I have a good road map, but it's a lot of sacrifice. But I see a lot of listless and neutered soy boys that are acting like the world owes them some understanding.

[–]mixing_saws 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

Interesting. But next to earnings you also need status. I heard of a woman rejecting a 6 figure earning tradesmen that owned his own plumbing business. Because its a low status job. I think women that want to earn good money they need to date like men do. Downwards. And im pretty sure there are lots of willing stay at home dads.

[–]TheRealMekkor 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Hypergamy is a b* for sure, but some women care about status more than others. Status = confidence = competence.

You could be rich but if you're risky, impulsive and unintelligent you're not likely to stay rich. Hence why power and competence are more important than wealth also why women like men who score low in Agreeableness, high in Conscientiousness, and low in Neuroticism also the most favored traits in western society for successful men.

If you're interested look into the statistics for women who divorce or cheat on stay at home dad's. You can try to fight biology but mother nature has eons on your modern sensitive culture and she's very unforgiving.

It is ironic that men date down and take care of women but the inverse isn't true. But just as my father said after beating me "life's not fair." Or "I beat you not for what you did, but for what you could've done."

The sex robots will replace them one day man neural link

[–]TheRealMekkor 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

I think sex robots will take weaker men out of the gene pool. An interesting fact is that we have twice as many female ancestors than we do male. So women are the selectors of reproduction and on average its fewer men than have greater numbers of children. In some ways these robots may help separate the wheat from the chaff. But in a more humane manner.

[–]big_guy_siens 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

bruh there's a difference between tough love and fucking abuse go see a psyche

[–]TheRealMekkor 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I speak openly about my experiences but don't mistake me I am not suffering for my past. I don't bare any resentment towards my parents, I understand where their abuse came from, the demons that plagued my parents run back several generations. Life is suffering, what I've endured has made me stronger and harder.

But I'm grateful for the experiences I've had because I know what it takes to be a monster.

as women earn more and beat men in college degrees

I think what you meant to say was: "Handed these positions to satisfy gender quotas"... No reasonable person can deny this is happening, and the same for higher education (I use that term tongue firmly in cheek) - Heck, wasn't the report posted in this group not too long ago about how over 3/4 of all educators/teachers giving females higher grades than males for identical work simply because they felt that girls deserved a leg up?

Huh, so being artificially propped up by systemic sexism = entitled to demand more from males (Straight) who are being discriminated against by the system?

This is not to say that all women got to where they are due to such things. Plenty are hard workers of course and earned it the old fashioned way. But in the spirit of the Yahoo article and the general, over-arching tendency to label and lump everyone together when men-bashing, criticizing or similar, let's just accept the statements above for the sake of argument and go from there?

[–]TheRealMekkor 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The argument from there is too much strain means somethings got to give. I'm not sure what the cultural revolution will look like, but that's why I'm here I guess.

[–]Lumpy_Constellation -3 points-2 points-1 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's not in the article. This person either didn't read the article, or he figured this "quote" would get more upvotes in this sub than something the article actually did say, like "[women] prefer men who are emotionally available, good communicators, and share similar values." Seems they were right.

[–]beleidigtewurst 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the article actually did say, like "[women] prefe

In other words, re-hash of "nice guy" bazinga for idiots.

[–]Affectionate-School3 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It said that in the context of dating apps. Women are basing their perception of male communication skills and emotional availability on what they see in OKCupid. How much sense does that make?

No one here feels the need to put on a straight face to address this article because it’s such a joke.

[–]Lumpy_Constellation -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Do you see any irony in the fact that the article didn't say anything even remotely similar to this, but can be directly quoted as saying "[some men] claim that they actually have great personalities, and that women just don’t want to date them because they aren’t good looking. 'Women are just too complicated,' these same men will proclaim, ignoring the dozens of women telling them exactly how they want to be treated; with respect, dignity, tenderness." ?

[–]beleidigtewurst 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

The article is basically garbage. Re-hash of "nice guy" cretinism.

The post you are commenting on refers to actual findings in actual science.

have great personalities

Honestly, I don't understand how an adult person could type this without laughing.

ozens of women telling them exactly how they want to be treated

Posting in men's rights subr and speaking about what some entitled females want. What a wise move.

The hilarious part is that you think that height/status and "treat me like a princess" requirements are somehow mutually exclusive.

[–]Lumpy_Constellation -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

The hilarious part is that you think that height/status and "treat me like a princess" requirements are somehow mutually exclusive.

There is a hilarious part. You just don't seem to be aware of what it is.

[–]beleidigtewurst 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Oh, am I?

That's, bad, I think. It is bad, right?

May I ask exactly what I am not aware of "what it is"-ing?

[–]Lumpy_Constellation 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Idk man, you seem perfectly happy with yourself so that must mean it's not bad, right?

I'm not sure how I'd start explaining everything, but let's just go with the simplest reason: you think stereotypes about men are bad but you're happy to push ones about women.

Again, though, you're happy with yourself and that's all that counts.

[–]beleidigtewurst 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Idk man, you seem perfectly happy with yourself so that must mean it's not bad, right?

I'd love to lose about 3kg (and I likely will before my next Vacation which is not that far away), but other than that, yeah. Why?

I'm not sure how I'd start explaining everything,

Oh, sorry, I didn't ask you to "explain everything".

you think stereotypes about men are bad

Which ones?

but you're happy to push ones about women.

Which ones?

You know what, can we start with simpler things, like figuring out exactly what I am not aware of "what it is"-ing?

Or was it a generic "I don't like what you are saying, so let me tell you some copypasta"? That is also fine. Then we can switch directly to copypasta stuff you were accusing me of.

PS

I need to do some stuff in the garden, but no worries, I'll be back.

[–]Lumpy_Constellation -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Which ones?

"'nice guy' cretinism."

Which ones?

"height/status and 'treat me like a princess' requirements"

[–]beleidigtewurst 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

"'nice guy' cretinism."

I am not sure what sort of stereotype you mean, but let me tell you that "cretinism" here refers to the wild thought of any guy, no matter his status (education, income) and looks can suddenly become very attractive to women, if he gets nice enough.

"height/status and 'treat me like a princess' requirements"

So solid scientific facts/studies, that show that:

1) Only 4% of women would not be bothered by their partner being shorter than them 2) Women demanding that potential partner is at their or higher status (and women that are higher on the social pyramid demanding MORE, not less)

are now "stereotypes" huh?

[–]Lumpy_Constellation 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Studies also show that men are most satisfied with partners who are around 3in shorter than them - it's a mutual preference, but you've chosen only to represent it as a preference for women to make it sound as if women's requirements are shallow (which is a stereotype).

Also, "I'd prefer to date someone who is at least as successful as me" is not the same thing as "I want to be treated like a princess". You know that. I know you know that. "Women want to be treated like princesses" is a stereotype, and you're trying to support it with the idea that women want partners who have similar goals and incomes to them.

[–]Kumquat_conniption -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm sure they don't, not even a little. Tbh, they probably only read the headline.

[–]Affectionate-School3 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I read it and it assumes that lack of women are the reason for the unhappiness. If you would commit to due diligence you would also discover the cause of unhappiness is underemployment, and underemployment often goes with being single (three guesses why)

And yet men are supposedly given all the jobs

Like most feminist rags it assumes women are at the center of things

https://www.inc.com/bill-murphy-jr/a-massive-new-study-of-5000-men-says-this-1-very-surprising-thing-predicts-happiness.html

"Responding to the article via Twitter are a number of men who insist that women are “too picky” and have “double standards”. They claim that they actually have great personalities, and that women just don’t want to date them because they aren’t good looking."

This is actually 100% true. The author of that article also doesn't deny it. Instead, she blames men for thinking that way, despite the fact that it is exactly this shallowness from modern women that has caused men to think like this.

"So, single straight men, it’s time to look inwards, buck up and treat women right."

As expected, the obnoxious and insufferable sentence at the end.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 97 points98 points99 points 3 years ago (30 children) | Copy Link

Those kinds of women aren't in denial of their shallowness. They just don't be own up to it or be held accountable for it.

When a woman lies to you to "spare your feelings" about the reason she's not interested, that's really her trying to spare her ego or reputation.

And because there's an endless line of men who want to fuck them and not call them out on it, most women get away with it.

I've told women to their face they will get more respect from their friends and men in their lives if they just admit the real reason they're interested or not in someone. Just own up to it. You're only holding yourself and others back by not. Your relationships that remain will be more sincere and more meaningful, which is what they typically claim is what they want.

They tend to say they're afraid the guy will lash out from bitterness or lack of confidence, but statistically that's not really true. Plus if women are as a group telling men the wrong reasons why they're not interested, when you've gone through your 20s and are ready to settle down, all those men you never gave honest feedback to are still the same.

It's just a huge exercise in ego stroking and victim blaming.

[–]TheSnesLord 49 points50 points51 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Those kinds of women aren't in denial of their shallowness. They just don't be own up to it

I don't know why women just don't say outright that they won't date a man because he is average/ugly-looking. There are no repercussions for the woman.

I mean, due to feminism and the empowerment bulls**t, it is now socially acceptable and ENCOURAGED that women reject guys in the nastiest and meanest way possible. They'll get praised and celebrated for it.

[–]el_doherz 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Because 1 guy in a million will snap and kill someone after said straight rejection.

Cue massive media coverage and spin. Then women everywhere are scared of the insanely rare occurrence.

This is despite the risks being substantially lower than the ones they take daily like driving, crossing roads etc

[–]Angryasfk 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They also likely don’t want to seen to be a “b#tch”. It may turn off guys around that they do want to date.

[–]IceCorrect 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They also must keep this "women are wonderful effect", thats why they say how most important trait in men is his personality, like they are more divine than those shallow men who "sexualy objcetive" women

[–]fear_the_future 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They don't want to be the bad guy. Being the victim is very important nowadays for self-image and social clout.

[–]AtheistConservative 27 points28 points29 points 3 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

but statistically that's not really true.

Thank god someone said it. For all the people who claim to "fucking love" science, they act like middle class white women are going through the Somme. It also just baffles me that you'll claim to be in such deep fear, but do fuck all productive about it. You haven't benched since high school gym class, you don't carry, or have any martial arts training. At best you're going to try to ram a handful of keys with your wrist wrong and no backing to protect your palm.

[–]Affectionate-School3 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Statistically speaking, people are not safer when they carry and keep guns. Martial arts tho👍

Here’s an interesting piece about the belief that guns provide safety, and how it dates back to southern fears of former slaves taking revenge

https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/962307

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Just reading that blurb you said makes me think that the article is just a hatchet job. I don’t doubt that whites in the post Civil War South feared the ex-slaves would want revenge. But to claim this is what caused the carrying of guns is utterly ridiculous. People have been carrying weapons for personal defence long before emancipation. Hobbs specifically made comments about his critics carrying pistols for protection as confirming his words by their actions.

I’m not advocating for “carrying”. It’s just that the article sounds like an ideological hatchet job likening people carrying guns for protection to slave owners.

[–]Affectionate-School3 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Yes, they did carry them long before emancipation and they were heavily regulated by gun control laws, mostly local ones. The trend to high volume gun ownership is one of the things changed by the civil war, partly because of the surplus of weaponry following it.

https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/gun-control-old-west-180968013/

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yawn. And they were carried by people who didn’t live in societies with large slave populations. They were common in the “old west”. And as I pointed out, Hobbes made the point of how many people carried pistols in his time (17th century). There were few, if any, slaves in England at the time. And they carried weapons not because of fear of some sort of slave rebellion, but fear of footpads and highway men: criminals basically.

To make a deliberate (and clearly misleading) attempt to link carrying weapons with a slave owning society smells like a stitch up, and not something that deserves consideration.

[–]Affectionate-School3 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Strawman argument. I did not suggest that slavery and the civil war were the causes of gun production and ownership. The question is why Americans own far more guns than do other nations and why American ideologies around them are more intense.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I didn’t say you did. But it sounds like the authors of the article you quoted did.

[–]Affectionate-School3 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I happen to be familiar with the content of what I posted and the authors make no such intimation. I’m interested in references, not co-philosophy, so I will now exit this debate and wish you the best.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not looking to drag this off topic, but https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2021/oct/5/guns-used-more-for-self-defense-than-crimes/

Problems in self-reporting.

The fundamental flaw with this claim is that gun advocates compare inflated survey defensive gun use numbers from Gary Kleck with National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) crime numbers. The defensive gun use surveys use different and more dubious methodologies from the NCVS. An accurate comparison requires comparing similar methodologies. A 2013 Department of Justice report compared NCVS gun crime numbers to NCVS DGU numbers between 2007 and 2011. The DOJ report determined that more than nine times as many people are victimized by guns than are protected by guns. The study further found fewer than 1% of victims in all nonfatal violent crimes reported using a firearm to defend themselves during the incidents.

The only thing I'll add is that when women let men down gently, it's shitty but it's A: a defense mechanism because many guys WILL go postal and creepy B: Most of them don't know what they like themselves. Like how you have no idea what you do for fun the minute someone actually asks you, but your buddies could probably answer it straight off.

Many guys? How many?

Knowing what you like isn't required to know what you don't like.

Dude, I've seen my sister's Tinder and text responses, my ex girlfriend's Tinder and how guys react (we were non monogamous), I've seen guys do it person, and heard stories about it from every woman I've ever talked to long enough.

As for the second one, I may be misattributimg this factoid here, but in Why Women Have Sex written by two of the top researchers in the study of human mating, the things women routinely list as attraction triggers frequently mismatch what's known to be common attractive features and behavior.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Tinder? As in people looking for a hookup?

That's definitely an issue of selection bias.

Frequent mismatch? Maybe that has something to do with the fact women aren't honest or forthright with what they're looking for.

No one is disputing that women lie about that for strategic reasons, but to think it's all self preservation is oversimplistic at best, but gives a nice path for plausible deniability for the more selfish reasons.

Good studies take this sort of thing into account. I'm not invested enough to hunt down sources, but if you are, you might find something from the authors of the book I mentioned.

to think it's all self preservation is oversimplistic at best

I don't think I said it was, and I gave two reasons I believed to be the main causes. I think the things women tend to lie about for self-preservation and the often wrong answers given in sincerity about what triggers attraction, and especially sexual attraction, happen under different circumstances.

And yes, women also lie for convenience and as a social strategy.

*Disclaimer: not all women.

[–]IceCorrect 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Do you belive its real problem or this is just cognitive bias, like we tend to say "Once again I picked slower line"?

[–]Foxsayy 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think there's some cognitive bias towards these things because danger stands out, but I think it happens enough to be a very real threat. However:

When a woman lies to you to "spare your feelings" about the reason she's not interested, that's really her trying to spare her ego or reputation.

This is also true. I'm just trying to point out that it's a multi-faceted issue and prevent us from going from a reasonable critique and sliding into selling a simplistic explication, because having half the reasons is often as harmful as having the wrong ones.

if women are as a group telling men the wrong reasons why they're not interested, when you've gone through your 20s and are ready to settle down, all those men you never gave honest feedback to are still the same.

I also think that TwoX is full of women doing just this, telling each other and men why they think they're not interested.

[–]IceCorrect 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Worst part is men will never get honest answer what is ok or not ok.

[–]Lumpy_Constellation 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The author of that article also doesn't deny it. Instead, she blames men for thinking that way

She totally does deny it. Literally in the very next sentence she says women have been clearly saying what they do want and it's got nothing to do with looks:

"'Women are just too complicated,' these same men will proclaim, ignoring the dozens of women telling them exactly how they want to be treated; with respect, dignity, tenderness."

[–]TheSnesLord 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

"'Women are just too complicated,' these same men will proclaim, ignoring the dozens of women telling them exactly how they want to be treated; with respect, dignity, tenderness."

There's nothing there that indicates nor implies that women don't go for looks when dating a man. Therefore, there is no denial from the author.

If anything, the author has purposely side-tracked and deflected away from the issue like your typical feminist weasel. She has basically skipped to the stage AFTER the woman has already approved the man's looks. And the author has done this because she knows that the men's complaints about being rejected on looks alone by women are true.

[–]Lumpy_Constellation 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's literally saying "men think X, even though women are telling them it's actually Y".

Whether or not someone is attractive is subjective - everyone wants a partner they're attracted to, men also reject women they find unattractive.

But this article is about why men struggle to find and maintain relationships, and why women today are more likely to leave relationships. And it's not bc "women only want super hunks". Just take a quick glance at which men are in happy relationships and that becomes very obvious. It's bc they're finding it difficult to find partners who are emotionally mature, communicative, and treat them with tenderness.

[–]TheSnesLord 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

It's literally saying "men think X, even though women are telling them it's actually Y".

Like I said in my previous reply, the author has purposely side-tracked and deflected away from the issue, skipping to the stage AFTER the woman has already approved the man's looks. What part of that do you not understand?

Men do not get the "honour" of being told or signalled by women on how exactly how they want to be treated ("with respect, dignity, tenderness") if the women do not approve of the men's looks in the first place.

Remember, the context here is the article and the author.

Whether or not someone is attractive is subjective - everyone wants a partner they're attracted to, men also reject women they find unattractive.

I didn't say that men don't consider looks when dating a woman.

The major difference here is that in general, men are always willing to date down and f*ck down. Women only date on par or above, and only f*ck up.

Which of course means that in general, average-looking women can get dates with guys above their league, which means they have the pool from average-looking guys to good-looking guys to chose from. She might not get the super handsome Chads (although it IS possible as men date down and f**k down).

However, average-looking men have zero chance of getting dates with any level of attractive women above their league. I would even say that men have next to little or no chance with average-looking women either these days, because these women are also shallow and only going for the men who would be considered above their league. Their dating profile requirements show this on the major Dating Apps.

Young men sometimes TRY to punch above their weight when dating women, but reality soon hits them in the face and they'll realise this and drop their standards to realistic dating. Average men soon find out and know their place.

Young women however, when they punch above their weight when dating men and failing, they won't lower their standards. Meaning that it's either Chad or nothing. And that is why the term "Single Cat Lady" is a thing. The only time that single women "lower their standards" is when they hit the wall.

And it's not bc "women only want super hunks"

It is exactly that, i.e. the ridiculous standards women have set when dating men. This is proven by the fact that one of the main complaints from men is already stated in the article:

"men who insist that women are “too picky” and have “double standards”. They claim that they actually have great personalities, and that women just don’t want to date them because they aren’t good looking."

It is a legitimate complaint from men to which the coward of an author deflected away from and dismissed.

[–]babyygirl19 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hon, 70% of Americans are in committed relationships. Stop fear-mongering young men like they will never get a date or never be found attractive. That’s just not true.

Women of course are not going after the most attractive man in the world or nothing, I don’t even know what would compel you to say this except for anger and bitterness.

Women are statistically and through research have been PROVEN to value personality and other aspects more than looks.

It’s actually MEN who value looks 4x more in a partner.

Women statistically date down in terms of looks, not up.

Now you’re trying to use dating apps to represent dating in general. Not only is that unrealistic, it doesn’t make sense.

Dating apps are meant to keep you on them. They’re meant to be superficial. I don’t understand how men don’t get that. They’re not supposed to be super detailed and are catered to short attention spans. You’re looking at a profile that takes less than 1 minute to read with most of it being pictures….of course people are going to swipe on the most attractive people or base most of their swipes on looks. That’s what it’s FOR.

Not to mention, more men than women use dating apps and some of both genders don’t use them at all. Dating apps are 2D versions of people that don’t show the beauty in how they laugh or smile or talk or treat others. Its literally made to have people be superficial.

The only reason men find an issue with this is because it doesn’t benefit them. That’s it. That’s also why a lot of men hate feminism. It doesn’t matter how many women or men it’s helped if it doesn’t get PERCEIVED by men as beneficial. So it gets categorized as a threat.

Same with dating apps and women having standards. If womens standards aren’t to where men can meet them, they get mad. They want sex from women and aren’t getting it. So ir doesn’t matter if women having standards for themselves is good or beneficial for them because men aren’t getting what they want.

That’s why insults like “old cat lady” and the “wall” are constantly dished out. It’s to scare young women into relationships with men who don’t meet their standards so more men get access to sex.

Statistics show that single childless women live longer and happier lives. They also show that women are actually more well-adjusted and content with being single later in life or never having been married. Women are okay being alone and don’t take that as an insult because they understand it’s better than being in an unhappy unfulfilling relationship just to get an orgasm once in a while.

Only 15% of the American population are actively looking for a relationship. Most of this probably consists of younger men but then again alot of young men don’t want to commit super young. And this 15% also includes women, people with disabilities who have it harder, people who live at home, etc.

Looks aren’t everything to women and it’s been shown through research and statistics. You’re kicking a dead horse. Women only wanting to fuck and date Brad pitts isn’t the issue. Women also initiate most divorces. The leading cause of it isn’t “I spent 20 years with a man I find ugly”….that doesn’t make sense. There’s a lack of something else that is harming relationships between men and women that is causing it to be harder for men to find dates and then maintain a long term marriage.

And it’s not looks. Looks fade. People age. Women know that more than anyone and they get harassed and sexualized at a younger age (most common ages for catcalling little girls is 11-17, what does that tell you?). We have the largest anti-aging industry for beauty and health for women. Trust me, women know looks aren’t everything because for a very long time, that’s really all we had, everything else was taken from us.

Really, whst the true core issue is here is that young men can’t get sex as easily compared to history. It used to be that men work hard, make stable income, and could get a woman no problem. Women couldn’t have standards because she had to make sure she had a life. She couldn’t get her own credit card. She couldn’t work for a while. Domestic violence wasn’t fully recognized until the 1990s. She was taught and fed lies since she was born. Look at magazines from the 50s-70s. Research the “Husbands Stitch”.

Nowadays, men are angry at women because a lot of that went away. No, we don’t need men to survive. Now we have to WANT you in our lives and that’s harder than if someone needs you, isn’t it?

I mean seriously. You have to have something to offer than money. Women outearn men in degrees.

Even in DIVORCES, all research shows that it’s not men “losing everything”. Men statistically actually gain more income while women lose 20% of their income and them and their CHILDREN are linked to poverty while men are not. And STILL, women are choosing to DIVORCE.

So that tells me there’s more to a partner than looks, money, or status.

Even if men think we’re lying, why not try it? Why not go out and be very social people? Why not ditch the nice guy act and really try to be genuinely happy on your own and have something to offer more than being a doormat or money or looks?

Because statistically, men have worse social skills than women. And with covid, the way that schools are catered towards women’s social nature, the prevalence of social media, devices, etc. doesn’t it make sense that that would only worsen things?

I think women are a lot more open than men really think. I think men are just tired and irritated of being rejected. I think men sexualize and romanticize and pedestalize women alot which makes it feel like so much pressure when things aren’t going amazing. Sex is very central in alot of mens lives and it’s not going well for them. Consequences like the actions of Elliot Rogers is becoming more prevalent as well which isn’t good and shows that there’s a little bit of an alarming anger from entitlement or not being able to be fulfilled in other aspects of life.

The issue isn't that women don't ultimately want men who have relationship skills. They do. The issue is that relationships skills are a closer for men. It keeps her around. It makes her want marriage. It prevents her from cheating and/or leaving. The problem is that the bar of entry for men is very high, and personality isn't what gets your foot in the door, but rather what keeps you in the house. The advice on offer is useful for men who are already getting action, and want a more meaningful long term relationship, but it's being given to men who don't have any options to begin with due to lack of physical attractiveness and/or socioeconomic status.

I'll offer an analogy. This is like telling an NBA basketball player how to make clutch shots in the last two minutes of the game so that he can win a finals mvp and ascend to all time super stardom. The only thing is that his problem is the coach won't even put him in the game. He needs different advice to get a chance even if he might eventually need to hit that late game shot. Women are giving advice on how to be a keeper when a large number of young men need to know how to be a starter first.

I for one have gotten grade A marks from every woman I ever dated in these regards. They routinely tell me I'm better than past boyfriends in these terms, and they are devastated when the relationship doesn't work out for the long haul. According to these measures I should be swimming in available women, but I'm not. I go long periods without any female attention whatsoever. There is more to it, and frankly it's the superficial stuff (height, being muscular, fashion, wealth, social status, and behaviors that predict for wealth and status) that sets the bar of entry. I believe women just don't want to admit to that side of female nature so they exclusively highlight their more meaningful long term selection criteria. It is what it is, but at least men admit to it on their side.

As a side note in terms of my selection criteria I could play the same game. Women who have good personalities I keep around and ones who don't I drop like a rock. I would be lying to tell you looks don't matter though. What I do to be as fair as possible is set the bar of entry for looks as low as possible (for me) in order to give different women a chance because her personality could increase her attractiveness to me. If I did what many women do I wouldn't know that and my shallow selectivity would run out of control.

I believe young men want two things. A society that helps build them up rather than tear them down (which used to be what society did but no longer does), and for women to give them a chance.

To be fair if a guys first reaponse to a woman not wanting to date him is to complain on twitter that shes too picky and just doesnt like the way he looks while parading how he has a good personality. Sorry to say it. But his personality is shit too and he's just in denial.

[–]Brandwein 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Is it, men can't complain online or they have bad personality? Does that go for women too, if i reject one and she cries about it does she have a bad personality?

[–]AveryFakeLastName -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Literally not what i said but ok allow me to rephrase it anyway. If a guy, following a simple rejection, immediately goes online to whine and bitch and moan how "women only like men who are ripped and making triple digits while shitting on guys like me who only have our good personality going for us" then your personality is shit too. If you go on a twitter rant because of a single rejection you are literally showing the entire internet why the woman said no to you to begin with. Thats not a good personality. Thats an emotionally unstable person and everyone can see that except them.

If a woman did the same thing then she's also an emotionally unstable person. Both of these people need therapy to work through their issues. But this is the reddit where someone mentions a small number of guys needing therapy for a very specific reason makes everyone go "I dont need therapy. I just need 180k a year and abs since thats all women really want" and you all circle jerk to that instead of doing anything to make you a more likable person.

The only constant in dating is YOU. If you're constantly being rejected by every woman you ask out then you're probably doing something wrong to begin with

[–]TheSnesLord 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or maybe he actually does have a good personality but have been rejected by women too many times purely based on his looks?

You cannot seem to grasp the fact that a man can have a good personality and still criticise the dating game. These two aspects can be kept separate and are mutually exclusive to each other.

"Emotionally available" sounds like code for "emotionally accommodating".

When I was in my 20s being honest and forthright about my thoughts and expectations made me "an asshole", even though I did not insult or personally attack them.

"Share similar values" is a two way street. This expectation that men are the only ones who need to step up when you're just not compatible is telling.

This expectation that men are the only ones who need to step up when you're just not compatible is telling.

I still remember talking with my sister about her relationship troubles, how she had this long laundry list of all the things she expected from her partners (some of which were mutually exclusive), and how not one of her exes met them all (which made them exes). I also remember the look of sheer stupefied confusion on her face when I asked her what she brought to the table. Turned out that in over a decade of of dating, not once had that been something that entered her mind.

[–]Rarvyn 46 points47 points48 points 3 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Sometimes it’s fun to take a list of requirements and start multiplying out the odds to see how many people are left.

You want a single 30-35 year old white man with a college degree who makes six figures, is above 6 feet tall, is not overweight, loves to dance, isn’t allergic to cats etc?

Well, there’s N people in your city, half are men, something like 6 or 7% of the population is in that age category, maybe half are white and a third have a college diploma. 20% of US men are above 6 feet tall and 5% make six figures. Only a third of the population isn’t overweight. No idea what percentage of folks love to dance or aren’t allergic to cats but it isn’t 100. Etc.

Now, a lot of those things aren’t independently distributed - people with college diplomas are likely to be younger and make more money for example, plus many cities have different distributions of all this relative to the country as a whole - but eventually you start multiplying the odds to the point where there might be one or two men in your entire area who meet your criteria… and they’re probably not single.

This doesnt make much sense most couples only want 1 kid if they even want one at all. So we have already a decline. Also making the part of the population unhappy that does all the dirty and dangerous work is also damaging their future economic prospects. You gotta keep the people happy that do these jobs. These jobs keep society functioning.

[–]ApprehensiveSlip5893 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Making a group unhappy is something the people who pull the strings do constantly. The lower and middle classes are always fighting with each other and never banding together to see who is keeping them down.

Countries are beginning to limit fertilizer farmers can use in the fields. Large farms use soil samples to analyze exactly what is needed for the specific crop they are growing. There is no reason to cut that amount down by 30%. It is only going to make food more expensive and starve the poor. The people in charge aren’t worried about the labour force, they have bigger plans.

70% of Americans are in committed relationships so I don’t think women are being crazy picky. I think social media and dating apps skew men into thinking we’re all shallow bitches when in reality, women actually date down in terms of appearance and are more appreciative of personality traits and compatibility.

I also have asked over a dozen men from places like Redpill, Purplepill, mens rights what non-materialistic traits that they bring to a relationship and have never gotten an answer. Ever.

They all try to say “well I have money and can afford dates and a house/family”. They all try to say how they fit the ROLE of a stereotypical family man, but can’t answer how they are as a PARTNER. How do you make women feel? How do you appreciate feminine traits? How do you value the women in your life or that you date?

You all know the fertile hip to waist ratio, but how many of you have been to therapy to address trauma or how many have worked on not using “gay” as an insult? Or how many of you have worked on social skills that are statistically and biologically lacking in men? ( fun fact, male babies showed more separation anxiety than female babies and are less social).

This isn’t an attack, but food for thought. Stats show that women aren’t only dating chads or being lonely/staying single. Women are actually statistically more likely to be in relationships the younger they are. Most people date within their socioeconomic range.

I’m well aware men have a harder time ATTRACTING women and on superficial dating apps (that’s their purpose why are you surprised the results would be shallow/superficial as well?). So I just don’t buy the fact that women are these ultimate picky people that just find all men ugly and men are just doomed to fail in dating. Most adult men actually get into committed relationships more than once.

[–]Rarvyn 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I didn’t mean to imply that all women were crazy picky. Just certain women are - to the point where the list of dealbreakers gets so long there exists pretty much no one who avoids them all. Most of them will eventually compromise on some of those points and settle down - or they’ll end up on arr slash FDS ranting about low value males.

I’m married and my own partner is quite happy with the wide variety of traits/skills I bring to the relationship - and vice versa for my own happiness with her - and I’m honestly a bit confused as to the point of most of your comment.

[–]TheSnesLord 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't be fooled, the "70% of Americans are in committed relationships" line are mostly the older generations of couples, when women were actually more realistic and less shallow. You know, before modern dating.

hm, okay. Then what would you say is the main issue with dating? Why are men so upset with women/sex/relationships? Yeah I don't get this line of thinking. Everyone should be looking to better themselves where they can but isn't it a pretty standard belief that you shouldn't change who you are to be with someone else? Why is that not true for men anymore?

Everyone has flaws and people are always working on improving them. If you want every man to reach perfection in every way before being "dateable" then you're blatantly ignoring women's own shortcomings and waiting for a utopia that humans just can't achieve

Modern Women grow up always having their way and not needing to accommodate other people. This is a complete reversal of maybe 70 years ago where they would be raised to be much more accommodating back when house wives were the expectation. This reversal has led to some crazy behaviours. I had a girl in a university project who was writing at a 1st grade level. I had to correct her whole piece and she cried about it and the act of her crying turned the entire group against me. I didn’t even touch any of the content either. Just fixed the errors and rewrote some of her pieces. She spent 2 hours crying and pressing undo changes on the google doc. Little did she know I made a copy of her corrected part and when I submitted it to the prof I pasted it in.

Most news and opinion content on Yahoo is not Yahoo’s original content but syndicated works that are licensed from other publishers.

When you are browsing Yahoo from any one of their portals (sports, style, politics, weather, finance, etc.), Yahoo will try to show you other articles that you might be interested in. But since the content isn’t Yahoo’s to begin with, it will be fetched and then displayed within the same portal you started out on.

If you start out by browsing finance.yahoo.com, and click around and wind up on this article, it will show it as being displayed right there on finance.yahoo.com/straight-men-want-love-ll-161119370.html, even though it was originally published by The Independent and even though it has nothing to do with finance.

If we want men to meet women’s higher standards, then we need to stop prioritizing girls and women over males in education.

The author also states many things not supported by evidence. He claims because many dating apps have more female profiles, men must be lonely. The male to female profiles on some dating apps isn’t a good measure of dating overall for a number of reasons and just because a man is single, doesn’t mean he’s lonely.

The overall reaction by men is they are happy to stay dibble rather than date and marry down. As the article even states, it’s women who are most frustrated they can’t find a msn to meet their high standards. Funny how this gets twisted into men having to change.

Because most of todays woman react allergic to responsibility. Id rather stay single for the rest of my life than conforming to societys outlandish standards. And i learned to live a happy life as a single. Its not that hard for a man.

Articles like this are still so far away from the core problem. Men have a lot of issues with depression, abuse and suicide etc. Obviously they don’t make great partners but instead of just doing the equivalent of “man up” they should be looking into why men have so many issues in the first place. Which leads to the fact that everyone seems to undermine men’s issues. Just like this article is doing.

Men Are Now More Likely to Be Single Than Women. It's Not a Good Sign

Why are increasing numbers of women choosing to be single?

[–]Lumpy_Constellation -3 points-2 points-1 points 3 years ago (57 children) | Copy Link

They are showing that, men are suffering being single, while women are enjoying being single

They're showing that bc it's what every study seems to reflect. Women who have never been married and who don't have children consistently report higher rates of happiness than any other demographic. Meanwhile, single men report being lonelier and less happy overall.

[–]mypthegoat 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]reverbiscrap 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Feel free to post the studies (not someone referencing them), please. I have heard tell that the groups reporting the lowest happiness is middle aged, professional women who are unmarried and have no children, and seen the study to support it.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s because they’re lumped in a larger number of young women in their late teens and twenties who date, catch up with friends, travel etc. They don’t have the stresses of dealing with kids, worrying about them and being able to keep them fed, clothed and happy, or the reality of living with someone as opposed to being taken out for dinner and dancing.

I suspect that’s how this circle is squared. It would be interesting if he had an age range breakdown.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (50 children) | Copy Link

Meanwhile i'm single, enjoying my life the fullest with my mates. Not lonelier at all. These studies are rigged. You will find tons of people in this sub, real life who are single, enjoying their life.

[–]Lumpy_Constellation -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (49 children) | Copy Link

I think you'll also find single women who are unhappy. The thing is, there are always outliers - just bc a majority feels a certain way or fits in a certain box doesn't mean the minority ceases to exist.

According to this sub, short guys are discriminated against in the dating pool. My SO is 5'8" and literally gets hit on relentlessly everywhere we go. Does that mean everyone here is wrong? Or does it mean one short guy is having a different experience from others for some reason?

Please check tiktok, youtube how women are expressing their grief of being single for a long time. And no sample size was given for these two reports. They are giving example of Rashida jones, emma watson.

Please check tiktok, youtube how women are expressing their grief of being single for a long time

Again, this is a very specific subsection of women made even smaller by the fact that what you see is influenced by an algorithm. There's also lots of women on these platforms talking about how they left their SOs and have never been happier, but some people might never see these.

no sample size was given for these two reports.

One of them was based on a statement from a university research professor in London, summarizing data gathered over a few studies.

I guess he is rich, good looking maybe, that's why he gets hit.

Lmao my SO is not rich. He works for his family business, lives in a (nice, but clearly not wealthy) trailer, and makes roughly $1.5k/month. And while I personally think he's hot, my preferences don't tend to match what's considered objectively attractive.

He gets hit on bc he's confident and he's a good listener and storyteller, and he's emotionally very mature and it comes across in the way he treats others. Aka he's good at communicating and he's sure of his own abilities.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link

One of them was based on a statement from a university research professor in London, summarizing data gathered over a few studies.

That's not sample size. Tell me the sample size. I can't find the research paper anywhere. Can you give me the link of the research paper??

For men they used the sample size of only 34239. That's a very small number

on $1.5k/month, that's like $18k/year. you can't survive on this. stop lying.

[–]Lumpy_Constellation -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

I can't find the research paper anywhere

Again, because it's a summary of several research papers. It states that it's based on "previous research by University College London, the London School of Economics and The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine."

For men they used the sample size of only 34239. That's a very small number

34,000 people is not a small sample size for a behavioral health study by any means

on $1.5k/month, that's like $18k/year. you can't survive on this. stop lying.

Again, he lives in a trailer. Like a fifth wheel trailer. His trailer is in the desert, his rent/lot fee is $500/month, and he owns his trailer. He also receives food stamps bc if his low income. So outside of rent, his major expenses are electricity, phone bill, and cat food and litter, and he can cover that for $1,000 or less. The family business he works for is a furniture store, so he's never had to buy furniture either. It's 100% possible, and I'm absolutely not lying.

[–]Angryasfk 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Gets hit on because he’s a good listener and storyteller? Oh come on. They’d have have already spent a lot of time in his company to actually find that out.

[–]Lumpy_Constellation 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He's very confident and social, always smiling and inviting others to join the fun, has a loud voice, and gestures a lot when speaking. Even if he's just talking to me in the grocery store, he'll start telling a great loud story about some product he wants to buy and random strangers will stop to comment or laugh as they pass, give him "the eyes", etc. People gravitate towards that energy, he ends up being the guy at the center of the group at parties and whatnot, and women hit on him bc of it.

There are more ways to attract attention than just being attractive and tall.

[–]Zintoss 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (33 children) | Copy Link

5'8 is short? Feels bad. That's actually the global average height for a male in the world. I think average in america is like 5'9-10

Wouldn't classify him as short tbh.

Find me a guy that's 5'2 that pulls mad hoes

[–]Lumpy_Constellation -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago* (32 children) | Copy Link

He's below average height in the US by about 2in, which means that in the US he's objectively short. He's also noticeable shorter than most men around him, which means he's noticeably shorter than average.

Whether or not you personally would classify him as short is irrelevant. By every objective measure in the US, he is considered short.

5'2" is about 8in shorter than the average in the US and 2in shorter than the shortest average on earth, which would make him the equivalent of a 4'8" woman. Since men also on average prefer a woman who's only about 3in shorter than them (shocking I know, but it's not only women who prefer certain physical traits in partners), it would be uniquely difficult for either person in that scenario to find a partner.

I will say though than I'm 5'2" and I had a good friend in college who was around my height. He was in a band he had put together and they worked really hard to gain local notoriety - I never heard him complain about it, and his height really didn't seem to have much of an effect on his ability to date. Not completely shocking either tbh - 5'4" is the average height for women in the US, so he was as tall or slightly taller or shorter than most women around him.

Also not shocking bc women actually prefer men who are interesting and confident - a guy who plays live music and has great social skills is more interesting than most other men around him, so he's bound to get lucky frequently regardless of his height.

[–]Zintoss 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (31 children) | Copy Link

No its much closer to 5’9. Being one inch shorter than average doesnt make short. Being 5’10 and a half doesnt make you tall.

People have ranges. 5’8 is very much average height and is taller than the global average.

There isn't a single objective measure that makes him short.

You’re just completely wrong.

5’2 is of course an extreme example because of how relatively rare it is.

If we’re doing realistic comparisons a man that’s 5’5 or 5’6 would have A much significantly harder time than a girl thats 5’0 or 4’11.

Womens height isnt nearly as relevant in dating as men. And that’s absolute fact regardless of your personal experiences.

[–]Lumpy_Constellation 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (30 children) | Copy Link

There isn't a single objective measure that makes him short.

Again, the objective measure is average height for the area he lives in. 5'8" is shorter than average in the US, and we live in CA where 5'8" is 2in shorter than the average. That's an absolute fact regardless of your personal opinion.

Also, it's completely uncool to invalidate men who feel self conscious bc of their height. My SO is so self conscious about it that it took him months to admit to me how tall he actually was - first he told me 5'11", then 5'10", then 5'9". I didn't even ask! I'm 5'2" - anything over 5'4" might as well be 6' to me, I can't tell the difference. He would just bring it up casually like he was trying to convince me or something. The only reason I know he's 5'8" is bc he asked me to measure him for something a few weeks ago, it was a huge sign of trust and we talked about how impactful the moment was for him afterwards. It has affected his life in a huge way, and in southern CA he is almost always the shortest or one of the shortest men in the room. So for you to sit here and say "nope, his and other men's feelings of incompetence are completely invalid unless they're 5'6" or shorter, regardless of height statistics" is shitty.

Womens height isnt nearly as relevant in dating as men

But other factors that women can't control are, like waist to hip ratio. Everyone has physical preferences.

You know what another predictor of relationship success is? Confidence. Self esteem. Work ethic. Communication skills. Things that have nothing to do with appearance.

61% of women happy being single compared to 49% of men is not a significant difference. Studies have also shown that work is a larger indicator of male happiness than relationships. Single men also tend to be the underemployed ones, so the ones reporting being unhappy being single also tend to be underemployed, which is the bigger contributor to unhappiness.

We’ve also come to be suspicious of studies that break down gender because of feminist bias in many. Take the very glaring CDC bias in rape analysis. They called consensual inebriated sex roofie rape. They called regrettable sex rape. These numbers have gone everywhere (1 in 5 women raped!) when it’s really more like 1 in 20.

Targeting men, specifically those who are Asian or Caucasian, and gleefully denying them higher education, employment opportunities, and vilifying them based on nothing other than these immutable facts leaves individuals left in these two categories being told that they should "man up and take it."

You know what's wild? My SO is 5'8" and he literally gets hit on all the fucking time. Women are drawn to him to the point that I literally get death glares when I'm introduced as his girlfriend. Two of his female neighbors are currently harassing him to the point that we had to get his landlord involved and are considering involving police if it escalates.

He's also the most respectful, emotionally mature guy I've ever known and that's immediately obvious within 10min of a conversation with him: he just is a good listener, good at socializing, nice, confident guy. Kind of like the article said women want - someone who treats them "with respect, dignity, tenderness" and is a good communicator who shares values.

Plow horses needed

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is a much more succinct way of saying what I was thinking. If men are exiting the game it is a bad deal for women. The top 20% of men can’t accommodate the needs of 80% of women. They need the plow horses to pull the weight when the women are ready to settle down. I also think the premise men are lonely is goofy. I don’t know any single men even at 40 who self describe as lonely. Some of them genuinely want a partner or wish they had a family to take care of.

[–]reverbiscrap 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I have a feeling that the group used in as the test group fall between 15-30 years of age.

IME, mem under 30 are more apt to speak about being lonely, and women under 30 are more apt to express satisfaction with their lives as single, professional women.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This makes sense to me. I know that my male friends felt left behind socially if they didn’t have a gf and my female friends didn’t care because going to a bar, club, gym, grocery store meant they were getting hit on and could have fun short flings. But around 32 the men were regretting marriage and the women were starting to lock down their beta bucks.

Feminism is just as hateful as racism in most countries. But most racists don't even wear that shit on their sleeve, feminist gladly put their hate out in the open, because no one really stops them. A woman can be in a group, call men all sorts of shit, and people will agree just to make her happy or not cause a scene.

I don't think we should engage with articles like this. My first take is that it's a trap constructed to make the defendant, in this case men, argue themselves back up in value to please the writer and their audience. An alternative take is that it's meant to entice angry responses from men and then huff about it. Who cares? You aren't defined by this writer, or others like them. Find your own value statements about yourself and then go find a woman who appreciates them.

It would look like the whole society is busy nagging men "to change". Obviously its not going to happen so I don't understand the point of these articles that on the surface look like favouring men by highlighting their faults, but actually are berating men for not falling in line with societal or feminist expectations. Men are capable of deciding what is good for them. All this preaching is annoying to say the least. And if single women are happier without men they should be encouraged to live life like that.

[–]EvidencePlz 59 points60 points61 points 3 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

No. I as a happily single, social, 100 percent MGTOW, heterosexual male don't want to and need to find love from anyone. If a woman - doesn't matter how incredibly pretty, kind, cute and rich she might be - offers me love, she will be met with flat-out rejection instantly but very politely.

No I don't need to improve anything about me cause I've improved enough. If I need to improve some more, that's entirely up to me and will not be dictated by women and their white-knight beta cuck simps. No I don't need to do anything better than I already do. I work, pay my own bills and pay the tax that the government wants me to pay.

No, it's completely false that "Men need women far more than women need men.". It's the exact opposite. God forbid if a war breaks out between the country where I live now and another X or Y country, it's me who will have to put my life on the line to protect the women from getting killed or raped and not vice-versa.

"Research shows that men are at higher risk of isolation because they make friends less easily": Completely false. Been MGTOW since 2016 and I've made way too many friends since then than ever before.

No, I don't need to "buck up and treat women right", simply because I don't treat them wrong in the first place. Matter of fact, I don't even go anywhere near them unless it's for a strictly professional, work related reason. I can't treat someone right or wrong if I don't want to be anywhere near them in the first place.

Kapish?

[–]nyyazn 27 points28 points29 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Well said. Same here. I have never done anything in my life to appear better to women. I've been doing what I've been doing because I want to do it, for my own improvement.

I was conditioned since I was a young man that women don't like my type. I am short, 5'4'', from a south east Asian country. I've lived in NYC since being brought over as a refugee. Made myself into a highly educated, high income, and model citizen.

Didn't ever waste my time with women who looked down on me (no pun intended) or didn't like me. Mostly mind my own business, help ppl when I can, and just be an all around normal human being.

[–]throwawaygoodvibess 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You’re a fuckin God.

I’m kinda similar haha. Honestly, this life is admirable. Just mind our business and do our own thing. Tbh, I wish more people tried it.

[–]nyyazn 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks!! Yeah, I might have been dealt a bad hand (relatively speaking) but I am making the most of my life.

Not sure what's happened over the years but seems like women are just not very nice these days. Or just that when I was a kid, I wasn't looked at as some weirdo. But being a short hetero average looking Asian male, for some reason, women seemed to be weirded out by this look.

I don't discriminate when it comes to anyone even women who don't like me. I accept people for who they are. See that is the difference right there. Women don't accept me since I am not their idealized man. Can't change my height, my race, nor my age now that I am older. Lol!!

[–]Foxsayy -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I have an Asian buddy who tells me that ya'll really do have it rough like that. And I beleive it because he absolutely KILLS it in the dating game. A lot of women apparently filter him out because he's Asian which sucks, that doesn't mean Asian men aren't desirable in the dating market. He does great, and there are apparently some Asian-men-only female daters out there.

[–]nyyazn 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah man. It is rough for the Asian bros not just for dating but socializing. But it also depends on their personalities. I am sure there are outgoing ppl of any background.

As for me, I am quiet and reserved. I keep to myself because I don't really trust ppl right away. Growing up in NYC, we learn to keep to ourselves because there are so many con artists around.

If you can kindly point me in the direction of those Asian-men-only female daters. Haha JK. Thanks for the support.

[–]pappo4ever 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not because he's asian. It's because he's short. Women mentally filter all men that are under 6'0. It didn't used to be like that, but in modern dating it has become the norm, and women copy each other. I'm 5'10 and I'm already out of the market, it wasn´t like that just some years ago.

In my experience, the key is to study and find out why men and women want to have sex with each other in the first place. Sex is the key element here as it's something the modern society is weaponizing against men. Once you understand and research the science of it, it will all become crystal clear to you, and you will no longer feel bad if no woman ever wants to sleep with you again.

When I say "study", I'm not referring to the psychologists, psychiatrists, sex therapists etc here. They are available dime a dozen. I'm referring to the actual, hard sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Evolutionary Biology.

If you are interested and have enough patience, start with reading books written by Oxford University Professor Richard Dawkins. I read only one book by him: The God Delusion, and that totally changed the way I think about the world. After reading it, and studying a bit more Evolutionary Biology, I was longer unhappy that I didn't have a permanent gf, wife and a family etc, and the times when I felt bad, I knew and was able to immediately identify the scientific reasons as to why I felt bad.

Got anything a bit more approachable? Not that I can’t read, its just i dont want to read through pages upon pages of waffle

[–]EvidencePlz 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Got anything a bit more approachable?

i dont want to read through pages upon pages of waffle

Not unfortunately. These are hard subjects and require in-depth and lengthy study, research and a certain kind of mindset. The book "The God Delusion" itself is 464 pages long. Just to explain to someone why that book matters when it comes to understanding and/or making sense of the relationship between men and women requires paragraphs and paragraphs of text aka "waffle" (like you said.).

I'll say this: give science a chance. You don't have to do it today, or tomorrow or next year even. But at some point in your life, give it a chance. We men and women are all products of science. Understanding the science behind us is the key. The knowledge is the key to your independence. Once you get it, everything else will fall into place.

I think there are two issues here:

  1. Women profess to want a man who is more like a woman (emotionally available etc). However, in their ACTUAL choices (always look at what women DO, not what they SAY), it appears that their choices aren’t backing up their professed preferences.

  2. We’ve removed a lot of the things that empower men to be the things that women ACTUALLY want. So it’s difficult to establish your career, earnings and all that settled life stuff that women ACTUALLY tend to go for. The economic trend towards lower and lower wages relative to inflation is starting to bite.

At the same time, women are less desirable generally, at least in the west. So many women are overweight, they’ve had god knows how many sexual partners, they have all the power once you’ve committed to them (in divorce and custody cases) and so on and so forth. Maybe this is a more complex issue and the juice not being worth the squeeze is just as big a factor. But this being 2022, there’s simply no vocabulary to articulate that men have preferences just as much as women, and any preferences that men have are likely to come under concerted pressure if articulated.

I think this (the concerted campaign to pressure men to be more like women) will end up not giving women what they want in the end.

[–]Wqtr100 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's crazy that they have the audacity to claim that "the bar for straight men is the literal ground" when they expect men to be in the top 5% or 10% in terms of height, looks, penis size, income and social status.

No, the bar is below the ground for straight women and several millions of miles up in the air for straight men.

Guy: "That's okay, I only date women under 200 pounds."

Yeah, I work my butt off to prevent myself becoming a fat ass. If you really want to lose the weight, you got to make some sacrifices. Height on the other hand is outside of our control. Weight isn't. So how come I'm judged for genetics but I'm damned if I judge someone for not looking after their body with proper diet and exercise?

Note: I honestly don't care if someone is larger (unless it's restricting their quality of life), I'm just beating the same old drum that so many brothers have protested against.

Until we start teaching them again that,

• Relationships are a two ways street.

• They need to apply their personal boundaries to themselves first.

• They need to be able to identify what they have to offer before they identify what they would like to get.

• That being rude, confrontational and defiant are not traits that define masculinity.

Right now we're advertising the 1st point as if its a man job to be a carpet while all they bring are at best, multiple failed previous relationships, and at worst luggages (DV/Rapes/Kids/and/or all at once)

The second point as if only they can tell you not to do something, whilst they do exactly what they told you not to do to not break their boundaries.

They're encouraged to have a list of demands (be it realistic or not) but are not encouraged to be anything else but a deadweight in most cases.

They're made to believe that being an uncooperative and unsuffurable bitch is being "strong and independant"*

They're sort of right when they say we need to step up, not to their standards tho, we need to start steping up to ourselves and not tolerate their disfonctional/irrational behaviours.

This sort of gaslighting attempt just show we're on the right track.

[–]PRANAV_1234 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"The article has gained traction on social media, with many women pointing out that the increase in healthy relationship standards has led to a decrease in “dating opportunities” for straight men. Taking aim at the criteria listed by women for potential partners, one person said: “The bar for straight men is the literal ground and they will still tunnel underneath it.” Another added: “Women just aren’t desperate enough to settle for garbage men anymore""

This paragraph is the literal definition of ignorance and Horse shit. Any problem in this world blame it on men. Anything extraordinary is achieved by men. Feminist blame the patriarchy for "making only men achieve great things". Why would women take accountability? They are so fuking perfect that they can't do anything wrong. Even to find love we have to "do better". Yeah again it's men's mistake. Women have unrealistic expectations like they are asking Jesus Christ, or some Greek god himself to date and Marry when she is like Ursula From The Little Mermaid.

[–]RecoveringCoomer 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The article is absolute horse manure.

First, it makes the mistake of not accounting for the huge difference between what women SAY they want, vs what they PROVE they want by their ACTIONS and CHOICES.

" “I hear recurring dating themes from women between the ages of 25 and 45,” he wrote. “They prefer men who are emotionally available, good communicators, and share similar values.”"

Yeah, women tend to say things like this. And then throw themselves at thugs and playboys who will lie, cheat, and manipulate and abuse them. Thinking they are the "alpha" males.

[–]InteriorInsights99 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I work with more women than men ( NGO) and more than 60% of the people I meet/see outside work are also women. This is what I’ve noticed…

-a lot of women aren’t good communicators, or emotionally available or even know what their values are ( so don’t know what similar values to find in a man).

I’m the first to admit that I have some serious flaws which I’m working on in therapy ( CPTSD/PTSD). I’m open, honest with my feelings and I’ve learnt to be more emotional vulnerable and communicate my wants/needs/feelings. I also have strong moral beliefs and I know what I value.

Unfortunately a lot of women I’ve met/worked with over the past decade do not possess these skills. That surprised me.

The media always focuses on women being better than men at ‘soft skills.’ Sure I’ve been fortunate to meet/work with women who’ve taught me a lot about being a better communicator, improving my emotional availability and these women shared similar values with me. There were women who possessed a high level of ‘soft skills.’ Nevertheless, these women were in the minority.

There are too many women out there who lack the basic skills that this article claims men need to acquire in order to level up.

Finally what women say they want in a man doesn’t match the reality of who they actually end up choosing. Once again many women I’ve worked with/known over the past ten years ended up choosing a man who was taller than her, earned more, was already a homeowner, and was more dominant than her. Maybe he was hiding his ‘soft skills’ but I never saw any evidence of their chosen man being emotionally available, good at communication or even being able to tell me what their values were. On multiple occasions my female colleagues admitted that finding a man who was emotionally open, good at communicating and vulnerable wasn’t as important as finding a man who earned more than her, had visible signs that matched his professional status ( nice car/house) and was ready to ‘look after her’ ( ie treat her like a princess). They told me that they’d never admit this publicly.

This is a fantastic hit piece, "The problem is that straight men have not come to terms with their own toxic masculinity and archaic patriarchal values."

If women were meant to replace men in the workforce then why haven't they stepped up in manual labor positions? They only want the high paying office jobs without the sacrifice of destroying their bodies. The "patriarchy," is the system of development men have made to further human advancement. What women came up with the calculator?

"Until they learn that being a good partner means being open with your thoughts, feelings and needs, while holding space for your significant other. And until they stop mansplaining and listen for once."

And there it is, mansplaning, another 21st century buzzword only meant to draw readers into the web of bullshit and fingerpointing. The issue with saying men need to open with their thoughts, feelings, and needs is that none of them are taken seriously when done so. Who's the biggest perpetrator of emotional neglect towards men? Women, and unfortunately men tend to reinforce this (at times) by not giving our male friends the space to address the ills that bother them.

The rest of the article is nothing more than a deflection from reality. Men need to do a lot more soul searching, women just need to show up; as if there is no such thing as toxic femininity which disregards rational convention of holding women accountable for their shitty behavior. the onus is strictly on men to improve, because women are "perfect," and better off single, and without children.

Let's revisit this article in 20 years and see how this has aged.

I’m purposely not rich despite the opportunities. It honestly introduces so many toxic people to your life, it’s not worth it. I’m comfortably in the upper-middle, so I’m not complaining or claiming being poor is better. But the wife and inner circle are there because we love and care for each other, not cause there is anything to be gained outside a personal relationship.

My dad and brother are pretty darn wealthy, so I’ve experienced their circles. It’s just not for me. They also have people and family in their lives, like me, that truly love them and will always been there for them. But they also have hoards of people trying to “be there friend” for superficial reasons. That shit just bugs me to the point where I’d rather avoid it altogether.

Straight men: if you want to find love, stay away from feminazi Karens.

[–]delocalelectron 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Women still expect men to approach them in the dating process - running the risk of rejection, and punishable by sexual harassment laws. This rejection is much more likely where the approaching male has lower financial status. But, resources required by males, and actively sought by females when mating have been compromised by EEO and Affirmative Action. Basically, they took'r jobs.

[–]Reasonable_Listen514 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

More like, if you want to find love, you have to look overseas. I don't see many US women worth "stepping up" or "doing better" for. It's not like they reciprocate love anyway. They only want men for what they can provide. They'll betray you the first time they think they can get a taller or richer man. They'll bail the first time anything gets difficult. They'll use the family courts to destroy you if you're naive enough to marry one. They spend their teens and 20s sleeping around, frying any pair bonding ability. Most of them or overweight, if not obese. Most hold feminist beliefs, so they'll see you as the source of all their problems. They're misandrist at their core. Their entitlement is beyond belief and their superficial standards are delusional. They aren't worth it, not the slightest effort. But all the traits of a good long term partner that are now missing in a huge majority of western females, are actually very common in other parts other world. US has the worst women in the world. The average US man isn't enough for them, but he is a top 10% man in many countries. Don't beleive me, get your passport and see for yourself. Be done with these rotten US females.

[–]Foxsayy -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think you're painting a bit of a caricature of women with a brush that's far too wide. Just mentioning because I think it compromises our position when we do it.

[–]Reasonable_Listen514 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What can I say? I've seen enough out of women here. I've met a small handful in my entire life (I'm not young) that are truly good and decent women. The majority of US women fit neatly into my paragraph above from what I see. No it's not all of them. But it seems to be the norm now.

This is literally the nth time I've seen this article on here in the last two weeks.

It's a shit article, meant to provoke emotional outrage from the sad and the angry, which it does well, but is not at all a description of the actual dating world. It sounds like it was written by a 20 year old female college student with 3 years of dating experience and in that 3 years, she, nor her friends, have had little time for much self discovery and improvement so has stayed stuck in the same super tiny sample size of men and assume it's how all men are like all 20 year old people do.

I hope someone checks their age - if they are anything other than they are sad, but also good at their job for creating an article that takes a realistic and angering piece of dating and sets it as the entire background.

"X people haven't not come to the terms with the fact that the problem is seed in their own laziness and archaic cultural values".

Damn those X people!

This is just bigotry with new words.

Research shows that men are at higher risk of isolation because they make friends less easily and don’t take part in as many social activities or community groups as women.

Hahaha stupid men! Why aren't you better at being healthier.

Meanwhile...

Research shows that Y people are at higher risk of isolation.

Poor Y people! It's all those men's fault for creating a society that hurts Y people and only Y people!

It has also been suggested that men benefit from marriage more than women, with married men reporting being happier and healthier.

Men benefit from an institution for whose failure they are disproportionately responsible are happier and healthier?! Surely that means that men outside of marriage are desperately depressive and unhealthy and that society should them??

Responding to the article via Twitter are a number of men who insist that women are “too picky” and have “double standards”. They claim that they actually have great personalities, and that women just don’t want to date them because they aren’t good looking. “Women are just too complicated,” these same men will proclaim, ignoring the dozens of women telling them exactly how they want to be treated; with respect, dignity, tenderness.

tbh, this is just ignoring the elephant in the room. Men and women both care about wealth and looks in a partner more than they admit. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2014/07/the-myth-of-buying-beauty/374414/ I am a transwoman. So maybe my tastes are not representative. But, I can tell you what they are when it comes to men: 1. In shape. 2. warm 3. sociable. 4. rich. 5. funny. 6. intelligent. 7. good with computers 8. well hung. I suspect that a non-trivial percentage of cis-women are looking for something similar

It has also been suggested that men benefit from marriage more than women, with married men reporting being happier and healthier.

That used to be true. But not anymore. Now, men and women get the same benefits from marriage. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4981792/

So the idea that men need women more than women need men isn't really backed by evidence.

But anyway, I object to this piece on a normative level as well: She isn't taking straight men seriously when they talk about their plight. She doesn't seem to think that they have any insights into their own situation. If you did that with women, then everyone would agree that it is sexist. So, I think that she needs to take her own advice and listen.

[–]rabel111 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The truth is that most women are hopeless at relationships with men. They are fixated on femsplaining rules and expectations, have no idea about masculine sexuality, and believe they are gods gift.

Women who are equality based are becoming rarer, while simp psychologists, educated to placate feminist academic fanatics, are addicted to sophist narratives that place men on their knees at the feet of women, feeding their psychotic need for dominance and sexual deification.

[–]delocalelectron 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women have yet to wake up to the reality that wanting to have sex with them doesn't correlate with wishing a long-term relationship with them.....unless they are trustworthy, loyal and honest. Most of them are found lacking. And we get to choose.

Bring nothing to the relationship
Be a burden to the other person
Not belittle people for traits they can't change

I just learned a bunch of new statistics regarding dating. I had no idea how well I was doing.

According to data from various dating apps, 80% of women want 20% of men. You know, over 6 figures in income, at least 6 feet tall, and above average looks, which includes an athletic physique. Women swipe right (to indicate interest) only 5% of the time. By comparison, men swipe right 50% of the time. Yet, a significant percentage of men never receive even one message from a woman.

Here's where it gets interesting to me. I started online dating 9 years ago this month (2013). I got my first response within 2 hours of setting up my profile, and dated that woman for a time, but that's not the interesting part. I've gotten a woman to date me (which includes having s*x with her) every time I fired up the app. By the way, I've used a variety of apps, but no "hookup" apps, only dating app. My experience was the same no matter which app I used.

To be clear, I don't mean I was dating several women all the time. I mean that every time one of my relationships ended, and I got back into the dating app, I attracted the attention of a new woman. Out of all the women I dated (at least 3 dates), I dropped 3 of them before I had s*x with them. Otherwise, s*x ensued.

Why is all that interesting? Well, I'm not in the category of the men the data says women are attracted to. I'm 58, f*t, broke, and only reasonably attractive. I stopped women in their tracks in my 20s, but those days are long gone. What's my secret? I understand how to bypass societal programming and speak to what a woman is, instead of who a woman thinks she is. That's a story for another time. Pretty smart, if I do say so myself. :-D

[–]BrownAndyeh 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

9 years?! do you take down your profiles and fire up new ones every few months? Teach us Sensei

I also do well with apps, but it’s only been a few months..wondering how you manage the long game.

[–]_PersistentRumor 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

My profile is essentially the same as it ever was. I've changed a few photos, and the photos are psychological warfare also - along with the brief text. :-D I don't see myself as managing a long game. I get with a chick for as long as I'm interested. It ends. I take a break to reset. I'm back at it. I have no investment in how long the relationship is. 2 weeks, 2 months, 2 years. It's all the same to me. I'm not ambitious enough to type out the whole strategy right here and now, but it's really easy when you know what women are. And I don't mean that in any negative way. If we understand and acknowledge that men and women are different, then it benefits men to understand what women are. Forget about who they are. That's personality plus imagination. Learn what they are on a DNA level, and you'll never be alone when you don't want to be. :-D

[–]BrownAndyeh 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Which apps have you settled on?

[–]_PersistentRumor 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I mostly use Plenty of Fish. It's one of the very few I've found that's free and lets you text women. Most of them are free but you must pay to communicate. By the way, women on on app are almost always on several, so I'll stick with the free one. 😃

[–]BrownAndyeh 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yea I’ve been on Bumble and Tinder..both work great for me, ..I’ve had no luck with Plenty of Fish maybe I’ll have another try.

[–]_PersistentRumor -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I said in my post that I haven't used hook-up apps yet, but I'm toying with the idea of trying Tinder the next time I want a woman. I've been a serial monogamist most of my life, with few exceptions. I'm thinking it's time for a hit it and quit it approach. I must admit, I put almost no effort in now. For example, I don't buy dinners for the first few dates. But everything I usually do leads to a relationship, albeit mostly short relationships. So, I'm interested in the idea of trying something new.

[–]BrownAndyeh 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don’t think Tinder is a hook up app anymore. I also don’t do dinners until 2-3dates in..coffee dates and casual drinks are best.

I’ve wondered about hook up apps..can’t figure out which ones are hookup apps in my area. *Plenty of Fish used to be a hook up app.

[–]_PersistentRumor -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, I learned about POF in 2009, and it was definitely a hook-up app. By the time I started using it in 2016, it had changed. If Tinder is no longer a hook-up app, that's cool. I've only ever heard it referred to that way.

Lmfaooooooooooop God forbid u incels go to therapy. I spit out my drink with laughter when I realized there was a men's rights subreddit. Go ahead and deny we live in a patriarchy. You are just mad ur too fucking lazy to do anything but abuse women and make them pay 5050.

[–]duhhhh 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Go ahead and deny 80 percent of domestic violence victims are women.

Ok.

I wish we as a society look at gender neutral domestic violence data instead of studies looking for violence against women only. The violence is pretty equal. The perception and resources are not. Reality is women are slightly more likely to initiate physical violence and slightly more likely to be significantly injured during physical violence.

Almost 24% of all relationships had some violence, and half (49.7%) of those were reciprocally violent. In nonreciprocally violent relationships, women were the perpetrators in more than 70% of the cases.

Src: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1854883/

Behind a paywall I have archived around, but Harvard research that women are more likely than men in starting or escalating domestic violence and those women are by far the women most likely to be injured in DV. That doesn't say all women injured are perpetrators themselves, but it does indicate the problem goes beyond the feminist/pop culture model of "violence against women".

It includes:

Almost 25% of the people surveyed — 28% of women and 19% of men — said there was some violence in their relationship. Women admitted perpetrating more violence (25% versus 11%) as well as being victimized more by violence (19% versus 16%) than men did. According to both men and women, 50% of this violence was reciprocal, that is, involved both parties, and in those cases the woman was more likely to have been the first to strike.

Read that one again and #BelieveWomen.

This is a long meta study that shows we've known domestic violence isn't gendered for decades. It is good analysis. It summarizes the results of dozens of studies across decades. Not ONE study. LOTS.

Popculture article -

https://thedailycounter.com/male-victims-of-domestic-violence-are-they-ignored/

Most domestic violence research today is research of "violence against women" from grants specifically looking for data on violence against women, not gender neutral research.

The rates of partner homicides didn't used to be that far apart. Then women got help and resources and the rate they killed their husbands dropped a lot. Men didn't get DV shelters they could use to protect their kids from their abuser without getting kidnapping charges giving the abuser an upper hand in custody, government funded help to allow them to get easy restraining orders, DV intervention public policy and programs that favored them, etc. Therefore the rate that husbands kill their wives hasn't dropped much. Maybe if we want to eliminate the desperate husbands in mutually abusive relationships killing their wives, we should give them better options. That would probably save a lot of women's lives just like doing it for women has saved a lot of mens lives.

"Gender Differences in Patterns and Trends in U.S. Homicide, 1976–2015" by James Alan Fox and Emma E. Fridel. The data comes from FBI statistics ("FBI's Supplementary Homicide Reports, SHR").

https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/abs/10.1089/vio.2017.0016?journalCode=vio&

Here's part of the conclusion that the authors came to:

Among all the results already reported, perhaps the most striking and important surrounds the trends in intimate partner homicide, particularly in the context of ongoing efforts to curtail domestic violence. Some researchers argue that the reduction in male intimate partner victimization, a decline of nearly 60% over the past four decades, is because of an increase in the availability of social and legal interventions, liberalized divorce laws, greater economic independence of women, as well as a reduction in the stigma of being the victim of domestic violence. Although at an earlier time a woman may have felt compelled to kill her abusive spouse as her only defense, she now has more opportunities to escape the relationship through means such as protective orders and shelters (Dugan et al. 1999; Fox et al. 2012). As a tragic irony, the wider availability of support services for abused women did not appear to have quite the intended effect, at least through the 1980s, as only male victimization declined.

Here is a graph of intimate partner homicides by sex over the years from the study. Notice the trend for women as they got help vs men that didn't?

https://m.imgur.com/a/6Hx9dJt

God forbid we help men, even if it would save womens lives.

I also suggest you look into the Duluth Model of Domestic Violence Intervention which results in men being beaten by their wives being arrested more often than the perpetrator when they call the police for help.

Ellen Pence (The creator) herself has written,

"By determining that the need or desire for power was the motivating force behind battering, we created a conceptual framework that, in fact, did not fit the lived experience of many of the men and women we were working with. The DAIP staff [...] remained undaunted by the difference in our theory and the actual experiences of those we were working with [...] It was the cases themselves that created the chink in each of our theoretical suits of armor. Speaking for myself, I found that many of the men I interviewed did not seem to articulate a desire for power over their partner. Although I relentlessly took every opportunity to point out to men in the groups that they were so motivated and merely in denial, the fact that few men ever articulated such a desire went unnoticed by me and many of my coworkers. Eventually, we realized that we were finding what we had already predetermined to find."

I suggest you read the Overview section of Erin Pizzey's wikipedia page or one of her books. She was the founder of Refuge.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erin_Pizzey

She created the worlds first domestic violence shelters. After opening several for women in the UK, she suggested that men were being abused too (often by women staying in her shelters) and men needed a shelter too. She was then slandered, her kids were threatened, her dog was killed, bricks were thrown through her windows, and she was removed from the DV organization she founded (now known as Refuge which has just recently lost funding for harming male victims for decades). She fled the country for her childrens safety and became an outspoken DV activist and anti-feminist once they moved out on their own.

That's what happens when a DV advocate tries to help men.

In the US, VAWA replaced the gender neutral Family Violence Prevention and Services Act giving extra rights/services to women and taking services/rights away from men and children. The funding and laws became very gendered. Many of the laws in the act were challenged in court and had to be rewritten. The funding is still very gendered 25 years later, so... We have lots of grants to study "violence against women" rather than gender neutral domestic violence, lots of grants to develop separate programs to "teach men not to rape" and "teach women to report rape", lots of perpetrator intervention programs for men but none for women, lots of DV resources for women but almost none for men.

Yes I read that article. It assumes that if men are lonely, it's due to a lack of female companionship. That's false. I've learned via experience that having male good friends can alleviate loneliness well. Many men alas don't have male friends they are tight with. Admittedly esp after age 25 or so it can be quite hard to find male friends you can be tight with if you are a man. But assuming male loneliness is due to a dearth of female companionship is wrong.

As for getting sex, well let's just say there are cheap hookers in the world, massage parlors, etc. A guy can get some action if he really wants to. Necessity is the mother of whoring. :)

Why am I not surprised this was in The Independent. Love the way they put out information that the happiest people are women who’ve never married or had kids. As this certainly is tilted towards young women in their 20’s, it begs the question: a 20 something who has no stresses other than paying her own rent/mortgage, goes out with her friends, gets to date whomever she chooses is likely to be very happy. How does a woman in her ‘50’s or ‘60’s who has no family and no partner rate on this scale?

Not as highly I suspect.

And I’m dubious about the claim that women’s expectations of men are “on the ground”.

Pass. I don’t care what someone else wants from me.

Willing to find a partner with whom I want to create a relationship based on love, respect, support and acceptance is completely normal to build a rational relationship is normal but some women are confused by modern times in their minds, they have such bizarre expectations because she deserves it without offering a thread from herself, but for the fact that she is pretty and only offering it from herself she expects men to become her ATM really has no value to create a relationship because there is nothing to contribute to the relationship!

And... NEVER go with a girl who's waiting to see what you can provide her. You want someone with as much hustle as you, not some dry cunt with her hand out 24/7

The original psychology today article this article is based upon was already discussed here

This article adds nothing to the original drivel but a dose of snark.

Thanks for sharing never the less.

Passport, bro. Get a passport.

Then you can choose between:

  1. A foreign surrogate if you want kids and want to make sure no one to have the ability to take them from you.

  2. A foreign bride who is submissive, is pleased with domestic duties, and doesn't plot with friends to take your kids and money. Just keep her away from womanists.

Why is this only ever said to straight men? Because it sounds bigoted if you say it to literally any other demographic.

Could you imagine if someone told women, or black men, or gay men, or transgender people that if they want to find love they need to do better?

What’s a STRAIGHT man? I am one, so I already know. I just thought we should have the talk first. Just to get it out of the way.

Since we live in a society that blames men for everything that goes wrong I can see why MGTOW exist
