I can only speak for my own experience - and I work in a very sociable public facing role where the main demographic is 18 - 40.

From personal observation, and I have no stats for this, but from what I’ve seen from a decent and varied cross section of where I live, and from the people I know and speak to and what I’ve heard - women who hit that 28/32 age where their first major adult relationships breakdown (maybe kids, marriage, shared home ownership involved) it’s almost always with men who are not traditionally attractive. They tend to be a physically unremarkable, average looking guy with a beard or a bit of hair loss. They tend to be blue collar guys OR soft looking white collar guys. And these women leave them or are simply miserable. The women who have traditionally attractive partners are almost always happy, or he has left them.

This is anecdotal and based on my own observations. I’d be keen to see the input of others. But as far as I can tell, women who are unhappy tend to be with physically unremarkable men, and they eventually leave or cheat. The ones with obviously attractive partners either last or are heartbroken because HE leaves them.
