Question: A doctor I know personally left his wife of 13 years with 3 children under 12 for his office manager. Did this man not create a single mother? Can you honestly say she's at fault for not seeing it coming when it took 13 years?

Both genders are responsible for kids - most women don't have kids with sperm donors nor they rape men to get their semen. Men have unprotected sex with these women willingly knowing the risks including the risk of their partner not aborting an unwanted pregnancy. As long as financial abortion isn't a legal practice (and I doubt it will become so any time soon especially with all the push against even medical abortions), men and women have to act accordingly. Both genders choose their partners - if you have no options but crazy women, you still choose them instead of saying single.

I'm fully convinced attitudes expressed by men such as this OP are the reason why more and more women are becoming child free and opting out of giving y'all reproductive privilege.

Both men and women are creating single moms. It takes two to tango. The criticism that go towards men is usually with men who bitch about women who are single mothers and ignore that she didn't make that baby alone.

Sometimes pregnancies happen, with someone would be a good father, other times not. It happens.
So do men. Guys, put a condom on if you don't want that risk.
Abortion is too complex of an issue. It is not black or white, Pro abortion or anti abortion, it is way more complex than that.
Yes, there are social psychological repercussions. If men don't want to take care of their children, do the same thing men tell women. Don't have sex or use a condom, or get a vasectomy or get pegged or fuck men.

A lot of times the guy did not even want to have children, but she disregarded it and had the child anyway. It makes sense for those men to not be so invested in a child they did not want.

Lots of couples have a discussion on if they want a child together or not. Regardless of the result of that discussion a child may still come about because they have sex. A woman I dated said she didn’t want children but that changed after she found she was pregnant. She ended up having a miscarriage unfortunately but I did break up with her because I didn’t want children with her and she wanted a child with me.

Many men don’t get the chance to see a woman’s feelings change when actually faced with the choice of having to abort until it is too late. This taught me to not take women at their word when they say they don’t want a child and to seek a vasectomy instead.

I actually made a post a while back asking how many men would be willing to use RISUG (Reversible inhibition of sperm under guidance) if it became available. There were a lot of men who said yes but a lot also said no, that they were worried about side effects (even tho RISUG is non-hormonal and fully reversible). I’m actually a proponent of more methods for men to regulate their own fertility. I can’t have kids anymore so I don’t have a dog in the fight, but I’d absolutely want something like RISUG to be available when my sons are older.

Until then there’s condoms which to be honest a lot of men hate using. For me personally sex is just as good with condoms but ime so many men (especially younger men in their 20s) don’t want to use them. I actually started telling potential partners that I might have HSV just so they would be serious about wearing condoms. 😂

What would men having the legal right to abort look like? It’s not “equal” because biologically we are not equal. You do not have uteruses.
Giving children up for adoption is massively stigmatised and there are many men who abandon their kids. I know a guy with a 12 year old daughter he has 0 involvement with bitching about his taxes go towards public schools as him “paying for other people’s kids to go to school”
Abortion is not legal everywhere and in some countries it is punishable by prison, not just for the woman but for anyone who facilitated it.

It takes two people to make anyone a parent, but the only person who can make someone a single parent (excluding kidnapping or murder or something) is the person who leaves. No matter their reason, no matter how justified it is, no matter who wanted children or not, that is still the action they did and they are responsible for that.

A man wanting a woman to get an abortion is meaningless. The act itself should serve as his consent. Hence, men and women are equally to blame.

Also, this take is amusing because it's an attempt for men to avoid accountability for something. Men aren't women and so this tactic is presumptively bad, given that men are still ascribed hyperagency. Consequently, based on that fact alone this take is uncompelling.

You need to distinguish between a single mother and a baby mama because there is a difference. I agree with you in terms of women who have children outside of wedlock. I disagree if we're talking about women who had kids within a marriage, which ultimately ended in divorce. Unless those women initiated the divorce without a really good reason.

With big powers come big responsabilities.

Men and women are responsible for pregnancy, however women have more power over this than men, as:

* Wide option of partner choices, thus allowing the opportunity to choose a more responsible partner;

* Legal power to murder the baby in the womb, not provided to the man (I thought about leaving this out, as not every woman is a murderer, some make the mistake, but take responsibility without having to sacrifice the lives of others);

* Legal power to donate the baby for adoption after birth, also not granted to men;

What I'm seeing is women having sex with irresponsible men, having children with scoundrels and then looking for a "real man" as a stepfather. And while single mothers talk about how the children's father is a terrible man, etc.

When a guy chooses to have sex with a woman, he risks the possibility of her getting pregnant every time unless she’s had a hysterectomy. If he doesn’t want to be potentially responsible for a child, then he shouldn’t be having sex outside of a serious committed relationship where he would be willing to take on the role of a father. The same goes for a woman, except that most of the time, the woman does take on the role of the mother anyway.

This is fast approaching change. I just posted on another post. Legislation has been recommended at the state level and looking to be pushed to national level that changes this dynamic.

First of all child support will only be applied if, it can be proven the parents were in a committed relationship either by marriage or holding themselves out In public as a couple for I think of a period of a year + I believe. I might be wrong on the length. Further child support will be calculated on a base market rate not on the father's income. No more private schools, designer clothes, or considering expect living costs of someone in a high bracket unless the mother has the income to supplement the cost.

Any child that is a product of a one night stand or a drunken night out with a long term friend will no longer be held responsible for child support and it makes paternity tests mandatory at birth.

Further alimony is being changed where permanent alimony no longer exist. They will only get the benefit of half the marriage length, again based off a calculated market value and not his income. This means married for 6 months? You get 3 months of alimony at the base rate. Marry an NBA player, actor or successful business man. Great! You only get base market rate. No more million dollar divorces.

If or when this goes to nation law, you are going to see a significant shift in the dating market.

I left my baby mumma a year ago when I’d been hanging out with my now gf for a couple of months - current gf started out as my side chick initially. Her own poor attitude and behaviour made her a single mum.

At the same time tho She’s a single mum but she isn’t, like we have a good relationship and I still see my kids every second day/give my baby mumma $ to help out, I’d never not. I didn’t want it to come to that, but she drove me to it. As is the story with many other men, lots of the time being a single mum is simply a woman’s own doing.

Ok so a man wants to have children but ends up being emotionally abusive but hey itss the womans fault.

you always hear about a deadbeat dad rarely its a deadbeat mom, usually if its a deadbeat mom the dad is also deadbeat and thats just statistics. My father was the better parent than my mom but i cant ignore the facts that 90 percent of the time the mother is the better parent.

I mean just listen to famous peoples childhood lives its always my dad was abusive, my dad beat my mom up, my mom escaped my dad.

Most of the time women are single moms due to their choices. However, you do have cases of men leaving their wives and kids for another woman. In that case, the man "made" the single mom.

But, let's be honest. The vast majority of single moms are not women who got married, had children with their husband, and then were abandoned by that husband.
