If you want a real game changer, get a proper birth control measure for men that does not require self-mutilation or abstinence, which is not really birth control.

1) Most men actually don't want to become single Dads.

2) Even if they did, most governments will impose restrictions on the use of this technology which will limit its usefulness to single men. Single men seeking to use it will be met with strong suspicion, much as they are when it comes to adoption already. It will mostly be used to extend the fertility of aging women, which will also extend their attractiveness as marriage partners for men who want to have a family.

Women are nature’s filtration system for male genetics. The most fit are allowed to be passed on, the rest go down the drain.

In the entire history of our species, most women reproduced while most men didn’t. Most men are just expendable waste.

Removing this natural filtration system and allowing the expendable waste to have their own kids seems like a bad idea.

Moving on, I doubt it will have as much of an effect as you might imagining if its not compulsory. Women already suffer from ideas of "failing" in some way from a C-section because people want to feel they are doing things right, and people want a connection with their children. Just telling people "give us your DNA, any child created is not yours" isn't going to be satisfying for most people.

I can potentially see people, especially women, putting off settling down since there is no incentive to beat the biological clock. If you can combine your dna non-sexually with anyone else and skip the imperfect process of creation of gametes (and the issues that arise from advanced maternal and paternal age) then there’s no reason to rush.

This will never happen though, and if it does it will be controlled by the super elite.

probably very little - most people, at the end of the day, want a relationship and want to raise children as father and mother. At most, some single people will have kids or less women will be pregnant - but I don’t expect actual artificial wombs to impact much, but rather, social and economic conditions to have a primary impact

Such technology is most likely impossible, but even if it would be possible no changes would happen. In developed countries we have very effective birth control available, yet women still seem to not be too interested in casual sex and they are still picky regarding potential partners.

I think even if I could afford it I'd want to be pregnant rather than use an artificial womb, for the babies sake. Since a sort of emotional connection forms between the mother and baby while it's in utero. Since the baby can start hearing and bonding to her voice, touch and experiences some of her emotions in a sense.

They wouldn't get pregnant considering females would have their fallopian tubes cut and stuff.

Why would "females" (better known as women) have their tubes tied? Just give every boy a vasectomy at like age 8.

The women would not have the risk of getting pregnant which means they would be willing to open up more.

They still risk STDs, sexual violence, and sexual dissatisfaction.

Well firstly, such a technology is so absurdly advanced that the society that develops it won't look anything like it does today.

If you were to create it in present day, it's not going to change much. You still have to choose a partner you want to date, fuck, live, and raise children with. Maybe casual sex would be marginally more common, but that's about it.

I would be so very happy that men get to have the legacy they want without having to put restrictions on what women can and should do with their bodies.

This would be the best thing to happen for women as long as men can get eggs.

It would still suck for women in some ways because men would still need women for eggs and the procedure to get eggs is extremely complicated and can be painful. So it’s not the boon for women that men think it will be, women will just become another resource for men to plunder for their own selfish reasons.

It wouldn't affect it all that much. Very few people want to be single parents, and there's already reliable birth control. We'd have no marriages because of an accidentally pregnancy, but that's already rare.

Every mother I've talked to has said pregnancy was the easiest part of having a kid. The next 18+ years of raising and supporting them is the hard part. That would still exist if we had artificial wombs.

Personally, I'd love to have an artificial womb. The thing that freaks me out the most about having a kid isn't raising it, and the sleepless nights, it's the absolute body horror that is pregnancy. I'm sure a lot of couples would have way more kids (if they could afford them, of course) if one of the people in the relationship didn't have to go through 9 months of absolute ass, only to spend several months after recovering from the whole experience.

I don't know if it would affect single people all that much. I imagine some single women would have kids without having partners, I think way fewer men would have kids without a partner.

Not at all. Men don’t want to be single dads. Most married dads don’t even want to be full-time dads. Women would still have the same risk of pregnancy from intercourse. The only thing this would change is now wealthy infertile couples could have another option for having children. Which I’m all for if it as an alternative to exploitative surrogacy.

Even less pressure to settle down and start a family. Some women doing it on their own, barely any man. Couples would form in their 40-50ties now to start to have a baby via artificial womb. The 'dating for fun' period would extend to about 45-50, that's when women would decide they are emotionally and financially ready for a baby.
