I see a lot of responses that say “take it as a compliment”. This is one of the most cringe responses I’ve personally had when turning someone down. I hope you do not take that advice. You’re telling someone how to feel when they’ve sort of already told you how they feel. It’s not overtly condescending, but it’s still condescending. I think the most sound advice I see is the response of “no problem”. Personally reading through the comments this is someone who works retail at a place you frequent. I think something like “hey, no problem. See you around!” in a friendly way is your best bet.

As little as possible. If you try to use too many words, your disappointment is likely to leak through and sound like you’re trying to hurt her feelings back. So, “ah, I understand, thanks” is totally sufficient. I actually do think you should not ask people on dates where you don’t know the answer ahead of time anyway. I had a girl say no to me, to my face. So i said "Hold on a minute". I pretended to have a phonecall right in front of her. In my pretended conversation i said things like: "She said no" "I don't know what is wrong with this girl for saying no. She clearly has some issues", "How she looks like? ,Brown hair, white t-shirt. kind of weird looking"

This would normally be creapy but i have thing in making people laugh. I can usually say inappropriate stuff and get away with it. She couldn't stop laughing because I clearly wasn't serious. She went out with me.

I do not advise to try this but i want you to understand something about what i did.

When she said no i wasn't phased at all by her rejection. I was able to make her laugh and make an awkward situation fun. She was beautiful but i managed to make fun of her bit which was refreshing for her. Most guys just suck up to her I had some persistence (this is not always wanted but sometimes it can work for you) She never expected anyone to have the balls to do that.

Maybe it can help you find your way. Again, do not do what i did. Find your own thing that helps

Firstly I would make your intentions clear. Do you want to take her somewhere to get to know her better, or are you looking for something romantic in this date?

If she says no, don't sweat it, but don't play it off either. Something along the lines of "ok, that's fine! Thank you for considering it!" Don’t let it show that you are butt hurt or feeling rejected. Besides you don’t know why she said no, it may have zero to do with you and all about her. Might try to conversate with her and see if you pick up any vibes from her one way or the other.
