The concept that "men should pay" is so deeply programmed into us. It's always a muddy place where people don't seem to stick to one consistent principle.

Women say it doesn't matter but then turn around and sometimes it's a full on red flag.

Men are also conflicted on the matter. While I think it's valid for men (and women but I'm talking about men here) to like being the provider and the generosity, I think it's still toxic and discriminatory against men who are less fortunate (which shouldn't be considered as "less fortunate" if they are able to afford themselves).

Women definitely have the power to change that despite what men think but we still haven't seen a movement or a trend to combat that ancient societal norm that results in a lot of toxicity.
