Why Do Women Friendzone Men?

The answer is simple: women love attention. By friendzoning you, they can enjoy your attention without the obligations of a relationship (sex, kissing, taking care of you, etc.). A woman's brain is biologically programmed to avoid conflict (mostly because they’re physically weaker compared to men, and even the average 15-year-old boy could physically overpower many women if they wanted to). By friendzoning you instead of directly rejecting you, she avoids making you angry or upset (and some men might act on those emotions in harmful ways). It’s a kind of consolation prize. It’s easier for her to reject you like this than to flat-out say she wants nothing to do with you.

By giving you the option to either accept the friendship or walk away, she shifts all the responsibility onto you. Now, you’re the one who “rejected” her. This way, she doesn’t have to feel guilty. “I wanted to stay friends, but he didn’t want that. What a jerk.” Some women might even use the friendzone to test you, to see if you’ll keep chasing her. She wants to see if you have enough self-respect to walk away from things you don’t want.

The friendzone mostly benefits women. They get attention, and we men get nothing. Let’s face it—we always have way more fun with our guy friends than with female friends. Friendships with women often don’t add much, and the only thing we can’t do with our guy friends is have sex. But let me tell you, the “let’s be friends first” strategy isn’t going to get you that either. The friendzone gives you nothing!
