They can’t get it through their heads that legality =/= morality. 16 and 18 are arbitrary numbers. There are countries where 13 is the age of consent. Does that make it okay for people of any age to fuck 13 y/os?

No person magically turns mature and suddenly becomes ready for sex the moment they turn a certain age. Not to mention that the brain doesn’t stop developing until one is in their 20s, which is why teens make impulsive decisions so often, why car insurance is higher for teens, etc. People who take advantage of this are selfish, period.

My ex used to joke and brag about the fact that I looked adolescent in my mid 20s. He was quite a bit older. I told him once to knock it off with the jokes and said it was creepy. His said " why?? The age of consent is 16". He also had multiple friends who were 35+ teachers dating teen students. So beyond fucked up. Wish I wasn't on the same planet with these predators.

I'm glad Japan and now Philippines have raised the age of consent. In Philippines it used to be 12 which is just sickening. It is now 16. I have faith that sexual tourism will stop being a thing just because state legislations finally do what they are supposed to do: protect their citizens.

As a young adult woman, I have zero reason and need to constantly wonder, inform myself or inform others on what the age of consent for boys in different places would be. So maybe adult men who do have that need should tell us all why they have it. And that's all I have to say about that.

Thank you. Only predators will have a rebuttal for this or use the age of consent as an argument to be with girls this young. The age of consent isn't for the men who are old enough to be these young women's fathers to sleep with them. Why would you as an adult who should be fairly established want to sleep with a teenager who is still mentally and emotionally developing and still figuring out their place in the world? Someone (sadly a woman) said that because the girl molested by Prince Andrew was over 16 it ‘wasn’t child abuse’ and that she could consent. Legally a child is anyone under 18 and if you think a 17 year old is in the same position to freely consent to sex as the middle aged second son of the Queen then you’re deluded.

Y'all, the grossest thing I ever saw on YouTube was an interview Vanity Fair did with Billie Eilish when she turned 18. She talked about her hopes and dreams, her aspirations, what she looked forward to creating in the music industry with her next album. But none of the scrotes in the comment section gave a shit about any of that.

All of the comments were some variation of "omg billie's legal now, can't wait" like these men are going to go on some Purge-style rape walkabout because she suddenly turned 18. I fucking hate how society does nothing to diminish this kind of behavior.

I have learned thoroughly over the years that men in their 20s and 30s often go for teenagers or women who are barely legally able to drink because the younger you are, the more likely you are to put up with bullshit. Because you may not have had as much experience in dating and romantic love when you're so young, so they know they can treat women like shit and not face any consequences. It's often the most manipulative individuals who intentionally seek out much younger people. It makes me sick.

Oh my god this reminds of a girl I used to friends with, she was 15 when this 27 year old started hitting on her and they were in a “relationship”. Me and my parents tried to explain to her that it’s not normal or healthy for a man to be interested in a child but she wouldn’t listen. Eventually they broke up but she ended up getting with some other guy who was 10 years older than her at 17 and having his baby. Bloody awful.

Ugh this reminds me of a politician in my country: he ”had sex with” a 15 year old (just legal here), when he was 34. She had been an intern at his department, so he held such obvious power position in their relation. People defended it by saying she looked older than she was - “she could easily be 18 years old” 🙃 This is 12 years ago and he’s still a minister.

As a 20 year old, even I feel weird talking to high schoolers sometimes. Any man that can comfortably date someone that much younger is definitely broken. I can also see the case where some young women are actually at their mental and intellectual level, usually as a result of trauma and conditioning, and should be yet another sign that it’s not healthy.

Like I saw an old newspaper of a middle aged man and his new 9 year old wife. Given the times, I can assume that poor child was probably making the meals, cooking, cleaning, running the house, and literally taking care of an adult man/monster. Anyone should be able to look at a 9 year old keeping pace with adult lifestyle and be very concerned. Many women do grow up and mature so so much faster than is healthy. That’s not a sign of “aha! She’s mentally able to consent!” That’s a sign of more adults failing children in every way possible.
