I reckon there are two ways to make it fair:

1) Men pay less for monthly membership, pro-rated to subtract the hours they are not welcome to use facilities.
2)An equal amount and accessibility of mens-only hours are allotted so that men and women pay the same for equal service.

The gym shouldn't be forced to do that, but if they don't, I think dudes should go to another gym, because they're getting ripped off.

Feminism is one big prolonged nice guy reaction. Like if a hot girl asks you in her sluttiest voice to lift some boxes for her and you say "You do it." and she goes crazy accuses you of being gay and gets really angry.

Woman demands something, man says no, woman loses her shit.

It's because these womens self-esteem check is based around getting men to do shit for them. When you refuse a feminists demands, even if they are utterly inconsequential (In fact, the more inconsequential, the more crazy it makes her), she's getting angry or hysterical about it because it's the equivalent of a guy being told he's a pussy by a girl or whatever.

"I don't pedestalize you enough to do what you say.". See here, this woman losing her shit over the idea that women can't collectively convince men to do something absurd, and immediately backpeddling on equality to pedestalize her gender some more as coddled toddlers, while getting resentful over the fact she can't keep getting men to do shit for her and also be an equal and so has to make up all this bullshit and do all this song and dance to flip flop between the two. Dance monkey. (it's way more bareable when you notice this and realize how pissed off it makes them.)

What bothers me (outside of the underlying premise of the situation of course) is the demand for a "safe space," that being a space where men are not allowed.

I take significant umbrage at the suggestion that men are, by our very presence, "unsafe." This is a dangerous and sexist narrative.

good on him, if he payed for the ability to use it, and then this was brought in effectively stopping him from using it at the times he wanted to, then he has been discriminated against. Women already have Women only gyms, if they dont want to work out with men, they have that option.

It would be like a gym deciding it wanted to be a women only gym after allowing men for years, and then expecting that after the change men would not be allowed out of their contracts, so expected to keep paying but not able to use it. Well for the times that gym was women only thats exactly whats happened.

Wanna know what the real irony in all of this is? And this is coming from someone who has worked at a variety of gyms in the past 5 years, but any woman who is SERIOUS about improving their fitness and getting strong, gives zero fucks about having women's-only time. In fact, the ones that actually bust their ass in the gym prefer to have stronger, fitter people around them because it motivates them more. So by having women's-only time, you're basically just catering to those who are destined to failure anyways. Embracing mediocrity and victimhood doesn't motivate and empower people, success and community does.

We had an issue like here in NYC recently at a public pool where Orthodox Jewish Women were given specific hours to swim because they "cannot swim with men". In order to swim during those times you must be a Woman and must obey their modesty laws. I find it absolutely ridiculous whether it is for religious purposes or not.

Many Women have told me they want the "female only" hours because Men have harassed them at the pool. That is just not a long term solution to harassment, no matter what side it's coming from.

With that said "Standing up for Manhood" is a really shitty way to put it.

If there was enough white people who "felt uncomfortable" sharing spaces with black people, that would be considered to be pretty offensive by today's standards. There is absolutely nothing to feel sympathetic about here. Women who have problems with men are the problem, and it doesn't suddenly become okay just because there's enough of them who think that way. If more women start going to the gym by excluding men, then the bigger issue is still women's prejudices against men. If women feel "excluded" by gyms because they allow men in, they are being insecure chauvinists.

I would love man only hours at the gym. My gym has a few chicks who show up with full makeup and get off on the attention they get from guys. It's distracting. And guys act different when there's a women around.

I believe women are 100% capable of doing all the things required from an adult human, therefore they should be treated like one. It is the feminist movement that is telling women they aren't as powerful as men, and that is bullshit. Behave like an adult and you will be treated like one. Behave like a child and you, again, will be treated like one. Creating "women only" hours only reinforces the ugly stereotype that men are generally predators. Try this with any other group and there would be extreme outrage. Think of whites only hours, Christian only hours, straight only hours, or any other kind of discriminatory policy. At the absolute least, the gym should give a discount to men for the fewer services they provide.

I'm not saying I necessarily agree with having Women's Only hours, but I'm just pointing out that this is a private company and they're perfectly allowed to do whatever the hell they want.

I don't really feel this amounts to full-on discrimination, to be completely honest, and I think suing a gym because of something as stupid as that (rather than just taking your business elsewhere and getting on with your life) seems like a very childish and unnecessary response to a relatively insignificant issue.

Wouldn't it be simpler and easier for everyone involved if he went to a different gym? The gym loses money because of its questionable policies and he gets to make gains anytime he wants. It's pretty clear he wanted publicity for his lawsuit to me.
