Nothing from me here. What's the expression? Take it outside? Have a beef? Take it outside. Chris Rock ... comic ... makes a joke ... on stage doing comic stuff. The joke had nothing to do with marriage or infidelity.

No. That man has a lot of privileges in his life. He legitimately assaulted someone on live national television and was celebrating listening to his former #1 record in the billboard 100, from back in the day.

Regular Joe’s lose their kids, livelihoods, houses, savings, etc just by being accused of POTENTIALLY being a threat because they’ve raised their voices in anger.

Will Smith, in a literal legal sense, assaulted someone over words and was sobbing about it after. He still was laughing and dancing at the end of the night. So… no, I don’t feel bad for him [+]

I feel bad for both of them, in a way.

She's obviously got a lot of problems and unresolved trauma that results in her seeking out dangerous and illicit relationships with other, younger men.

He doesn't seem like he knows anything about healthy boundaries and seems like he has found himself in a marriage where he can't do anything but get walked all over.

When I saw the slap I wondered if he was trying to be more like the dudes that she cheated on him with. They both need serious help.

It is never acceptable to strike a comedian who is simply doing his job. The whole point of a comedian is to make jokes that can be offensive.

Just think of it this way --- every joke a comedian makes is offensive to someone, somewhere. You go to their show knowing that something they say might not resonate with you, or it may flat out offend you by poking fun of someone or something you value.

That's the cost of doing business with them. You can't hypocritically sit and laugh at their jokes when they poke fun at other people; but then when they get to your wife you suddenly get up and knock the furniture out of their mouth because you're emotionally too weak to handle it.

If that was an acceptable response to jokes, then comedians would be getting physically assaulted every show and the craft would quickly disappear as a profession. The dude ruined the most important night of his life as an actor and embarrassed himself beyond repair at this point.

Feel bad for him? Are you serious? He, on live TV, showed exactly what is wrong with the country in todays society. A comic, making comedy, has someone so upset over a joke that he reacts with physical violence. Will Smith is an absolute disgrace.

If you are an adult and you can’t take the blunt of a joke, don’t even care if it’s at the expense of your wife, without resorting to violence, the last thing you are is a man. Men don’t resort to violence unless you need to. Stoicism, honor, and integrity define real men.

Our society is now filled with men that are so emotionally out of control, so angry, so fucking weak, the only thing they can do is react in pure anger and fury.

I don’t get your point of view at all OP. A real man would’ve laughed it of and showed composure. And if it was meant in real disrespect, told the other person that he doesn’t appreciate him disrespecting him / his wife, in a cordial / diplomatic way. You don’t rise tension from tension. Real men deescalate not aggravate.

We’ve all done the same thing at some points in our lives as Will has done. But that isn’t a time you reflect on yourself and say, “ man I really handled that situation well and should be proud of myself.” No. No you didn’t at all lol. Anyone applauding him for it is part of the problem we have in society in the 1st place. He should be ashamed.

Nope. Imagine if I just went up to somebody at work and slapped them because they had made a comment about my wardrobe. Or, at a club? A bouncer would have been there to throw me out. The expletives were the icing on the cake. The show was played internationally with, no doubt, children watching with their families. How is that OK? There are ways to act mature if a comment was inappropriate. Maybe Jada should have also let it slide off her back. I mean, nobody will 100% agree or like what others say about you all the time. So chill! And a more appropriate way to handle it would have been, after the show perhaps, to come up to Chris and be like, "Dude, that's not cool to make fun of somebody's appearance." And... seriously, to be compared to Demi Moore as GI Jane? I'd have been flattered. Who the hell is Jada Pinkett?!?

Nope! He assaulted another person (black on black crime) and nothing happened. When his wife cheated he should have left immediately, especially when she told him on her show for all the world to see.

Does he have some serious issues? It definitely appears so. However, that does not give him the right to physically assault someone for the reason or reasons he did it. I would never defend a significant other that way and I would have told her to learn to take a joke.

A previous female presenter at the Oscar's made a thinly veiled joke about Will Smith being a cuck, and he didn't react but it had to be humiliating. Then Chris Rock makes a joke that even Will Smith seem to laugh at, But then his wife says something to him and he jumps up and slaps Chris Rock.

I think the real thing he was mad at was that he had just a few minutes earlier been humiliated by the previous presenter. Then when his wife gave him the opportunity to defend her honor, even though she has none, He jumps up like a good simp, And just ends up humiliating himself further.

I feel bad for any man getting publicly humiliated by his wife wife, I think many of us have been there, but at some point He needs to stand up for himself. He should be defending his own honor.
