Divorce 1: we were young kids, age 22, married less than a year. call it an annulment.

Divorce 2: More than 20 years of marriage. after 10 years of her diagnosed schizophrenia, and her refusing to take prescribed meds, I filed for divorce when it became obvious she was a danger to me and the two kids. I won full custody, she left the state, never saw her kids again despite the kids therapist trying to reach out to her. raised two great young men, me as a single father.

Divorce 3: Married almost 10 years, the last 5 a constant state of mental distress with an undiagnosed ADHD and self medicating alcoholic wife. I made it through the first two without giving up any assets or income. This time, despite me entering marriage with my own home and half a million in IRA, and she had absolutely nothing but credit cards, I feel like I am going to lose everything. Shortly after we married, I told her she didnt have to work anymore, that my income was more than enough. Big mistake. Now as the sole earner, I stand to lose it all or at least half. there goes retirement.
