Today I saw a post from a young woman asking advice. She's been living with her boyfriend for four years, since she was 18 and he was 26. He makes twice her salary but she pays half the bills, which she can't afford.

We see this kind of story over and over.

And I'm guilty of the same. (Well not exactly the same, but the same.)

I think back on my own past when I was involved with a NVM who contributed nothing of value to my life, pushed sex on me that I didn't want and shamed me for tolerating it, never even tried to give me an orgasm but kept a count of how many I gave him, had me pay for almost everything even after he said that he would, walked away to hang out with friends when he'd promised to spend time with me, criticized almost everything I said or did, and acted disgusted with me that one time I was going through a hardship and had the audacity to want my boyfriend to offer empathy and comfort... and how did I handle it? I... loved him. It fills me with shame to admit that I loved that piece of excrement in spite of everything. I sat there pathetically loving him and desperately hoping he'd treat me better through all of this degradation.

I want so much for women to know our worth and not put up with the bullshit.
