I feel this so much. I don't think I'll ever share my standards with my friends or family. I don't need to justify myself to anyone. A lot of people in my life have pickme tendencies and they won't understand my reasons for why I would end things with a certain person.

I hate when people tell me "maybe your standards are too high" 😒. Wanting a tall man, who showers, wears nice cologne (not that cheap mess), who dresses well, and maintains some type of self care is not that hard. I'm not asking for a Giorgio Armani model, but damn! But let's just ignore the endless onslaught of women being told how to dress, smell, look, act etc to get a man puhlease.

Even in my pick me phase, I wasn't traveling to a man. I had a guy 40 years old who I was sleeping with (stupid 19 year old brain, thanks for the emotional damage mom). I made him drive me to and from his house and we lived in different cities. I did not get ready until he was on the way and he waited outside while I got ready. He eventually got tired of driving to me so I blocked him.

The stereotype probably came from those TV hoarding shows where firemen would open a door and tons of cars would stream out. Thing is that’s rare but for some reason it stuck that single women were hoarding cats and living in their own filth. Not even gonna point out how men live in days old underwear at a time but I digress And if anything that “sUbmIsSiVe AsiAn WoMAn” thing is crock. My SIL is far from submissive and has a great sense of humor. Men just don’t like independent women, so you do you!! I wish Reddit allowed pics because I’d love to see your cats!! <3
