I hate the idea of having to be grateful for something that I never asked for or wanted. It’s true not all women care about the ring... I think if you take the big step to propose to someone you should have a thoughtful ring though. If you can’t afford some kind of decent ring you can’t afford a wedding or a wife and family.... you can still get a ring or something more meaningful than a string for less than $1k

It doesn’t have to be a 10K 2 carat blinding monster or whatever if that’s not your jam or if the couple is low income... I totally get it...but it should still definitely be more than a string in my opinion

I’d want to know my partner carefully thought about marriage and proposal and is taking it seriously...so much so that they took that extra step and invested in it $ to an extent.
