For me, friendship is a two way street, to get emotional support you have to give and I’m sorry but a smile is not enough in return for all the emotional, physical and financial labor she is discussing.

The worst part to me about this is that I think she actually is successfully creating “good” relationships with LVM. She is buying them flowers, catering to their every need. Of course they like her. This would be adorable if it was equal, that her friends did that back. But lets face it, it is so fucking not. If she is talking about her problems her so called "guy friends" are just thinking about boning her. I always had more guy friends, than girls, but I have started making more active choices to have more women around me. I like my guy friends a lot, but my best friend after 4 years of friendship confessed that he was deeply in love with me (after I broke up with my ex at the time). I turned him down, and unlike most men- he actually took it like a man and accepted my choice and we continued our friendship. He never in those 6 years of friendship touched me inappropriately or came on to me- ever, after that. He accepted my decision and never tried to "change my mind" etc. He was a really good friend. But he still had feelings for me, and It happened to me once before with another guy, and he "dumped" my friendship after I turned him down.
Secondly, One of my very close guy friends now told me drunkenly at a party during one of those "truth or dare" situations (which is honestly lame when the people you are hanging with are all 25+) that he had thought about me naked, because as he said "I am a very attractive woman". I am in a LTR and we are still together, and I was with the same guy when he said it. Now I know he would never act on it, because I know how he is, but even the most platonic friendships- if you are attractive, men think about you sexually. Lets be fucking real here. I am glad my friend is honest with me, but our friendship is also a two way street. I support him and he supports me.
So this whole fucking pickme shit is embarrassing to read. If a guy isnt giving you 50/50 in a friendship, gtfo, because then he is definitely just thinking about banging you, if he actually cares about you he will push his "urges" aside and focus on the friendship.

Well my best friend died (long story I dont really feel on sharing here) so he is no longer around. As for the other friend I described. He is honestly a really good friend, who has my back and had my back several times in the past. He is the kind of guy who helps everyone (even other guy friends and girls). It is hard to explain but if he had ever made me feel uncomfortable, I would not be friends with him. I had another friend who made passes at me when drunk, and I stopped being friends with him, because it was really obvious he was just in it for getting his dick wet.
