Posted the same thing on another sub. I just wanted to get a broad view of perspectives.

I specifically mean cold approaching with the intent to get to know and eventually go out with somebody. I frankly don't see a problem with talking to someone you find interesting as long as you're able to read the room and immediately bale once you feel that the person is uncomfortable.

This is an extremely viable strategy in our modern-day society. I'm sorry but all dating apps are trash and I've used all of them. Tinder, hinge, bumble, OkCupid, cmb and hapn you name it. It's extremely useful for women but if you're an average dude it probably ain't gonna work and even if does work you're probably just gonna end up settling for someone you're incompatible with because you're so desperate and no one else has shown you interest.

Dating apps in general suck for guys for so many reasons as well. The disproportionate amount of guys to girls the fact that guys have to make the first move all the time. This leads to women feeling like they have a ton of options and so your chances of sticking out are abysmal.

With cold approaching, it's like tinder but this time all her attention is on you and you can show off your personality more. So you overall have a higher chance as opposed to if you met the same girl on tinder where she would have swiped left if your pictures rubbed her the wrong way or you'd just get left on read if you say "hey" even if she swipes right.

I'd advise approaching in an open space with a lot of people so she doesn't feel uncomfortable and backing off if she isn't receptive and that's it.

A lot of women on here are going to say they hate being approached in public and that's fine because a lot of women are totally fine with it as long as you respect their boundaries. I'm not going to lie it's mostly a numbers game. You still have to look your best but your chances are way better as opposed to dating apps. There are almost no consequences of awkwardness and stuff if you asked a girl out from one of your clubs or social activities because if they reject you then you have to constantly interact with them but with a stranger, if they reject you, you can just go your separate ways and never see them again. I will concede that it will be easier to get a feel for how a person feels towards you but the rejection will hurt more because you would have developed stronger feelings.

TLDR; cold approaching is better than dating apps because you have a higher chance of success provided you don't infringe on a person's boundaries. It's also better than meeting women in clubs and social activities because the consequences of rejection are less dire.
