I never knew anything about the pills until recently, when I was a teenager I was probably bluepill (thought that if I was a nice person and went to the gym and got a good haircut, I'd meet the right person).

When that failed totally and utterly, from about 16 onwards I was probably red (thinking that if I got involved with drugs and became a violent criminal, girls might find me attractive if I became the "bad boy" I thought they wanted, which largely didn't work besides a few one-night stands.)

Now I don't know what I am. It's clear from the popularity of "bad boys" that being a good person and lifting some weights isn't even close to what's needed to get into a relationship. I've been in my first serious relationship the past four months, and it's confirmed to be that most/all redpill narratives about women are false.

Mine already did; I was blue then shifted towards more pink pill ideologies after getting frustrated with the red pill men here so I’m more purple pill now but I do see myself shifting again to more black pill. Being here has definitely made me more jaded and dismissive of men as a result. For some reason this place has a habit of changing people’s minds for the worst.

I think most people's opinions are more about what they want to believe so they can continue justifying their own behavior. It would take a great shock like being cheated on to force someone to confront their own beliefs.

FWIW last month I was blue pill. Then I had what I'd call a red pill experience. Since then I've been thinking about it which led me here. Now I see situations where either strategy could work so I'm calling it purple. I don't think I could go back to being fully blue pill.

I’m blue and I don’t think I’ll ever become red or black-pilled. I’ve become fat more aware about men’s issues thanks to ppd and Men’s Lib though. It hasn’t changed my views on gender relations or stopped me from being a feminist.

My views are largely the result of my experience and my social circle and after joining ppd I’ve also got to read a bunch of studies, which helps me to see that social relations are complex and we can’t really brush them up with simplified ideas or explanations.

My opinion could change if I started seeing that evidence out in the world. If I saw less ugly men coupled up, I'd be more blackpilled. If I saw less "beta" men with women, I'd be more redpilled. If lifting weights got me attention from women, I'd be more redpilled.

I could easily see myself changing my views on what is right, but I won't change my views on what is wrong.

I was bluepilled for most of my youth. Bluepilled me never got any tail as in high school. Blue pilled me got no female attention in university. Bluepilled me had abysmal results as a working professional. I've tried the bluepill thing for a decade straight and failed for a decade straight. I don't think I given any other idea more of a shot. I'm convinced that the bluepill is wrong.

Now what is right? I can see my opinions change on this. I can see some truth in the Black pill, that I should looksmax. I can see truth in the Green pill, that I should go for the money. I can see the reasoning behind the Red pill, that I should learn game and acquire status.

I see how I can be wrong on who finishes first, but I know sure as hell that nice guys finish last.

Short answer, no. Longer answer, it takes a lot to change anything about a person beyond a certain age. Our brains "solidify" in certain areas at certain ages. Maturity accounts for a lot but life experiences and trauma can absolutely change a person as well.

Other people, on the other hand, formed their opinions from real experience. And that's not something you can change by throwing some internet "facts" at them. Only further experience can change their opinions.

Sure. I've softened on a lot of things over the 2-3 years I've browsed this sub. Reading arguments, even if I have no stake in the matter, helps clarify where my own thoughts might be, and it's not always what I'd expect.

And if so: would it be science? anecdotes?

I'm trained in science (and especially in psychological science, which is the bulk of what gets cited here), so I'm heavily in favor of science. Anecdotes however have their place if you're being judicious. This is because a lot of social science is done to explain phenomenon at an omnibus level (the supposed population average), and most of us do not resemble the omnibus.

There is of course bad science being done, and there are anecdotes shared and uncritically taken in. But good applications of anecdotes is sort of like a mini study of its own, where the science hasn't caught up yet. Nobody's done a study on 'short Asian men in white-collar profession dating in the midwest large city' for example. It might be that this subgroup (aka my subgroup) has a very different outcome than the omnibus, even if you can probably generalize a few findings here and there. Humans are annoyingly complicated, a finding that many of the 'hard science' folks who deride empirical psychology can't seem to accept.

So: do you think most young people will ever change their minds?

Yes. A couple of the incel-like guys I know in real life shifted their tone once they did finally get into a relationship. I don't think everyone is adaptable, but most are. These 'ideologies' are not static. Even us older folks (if you consider 30ish old) change too. I very much accept that since the proliferation of social media, combined with easy indoors entertainment, third places shrinking, then covid causing shut-ins, etc. that social skills among the young has really deteriorated. That and the constant dissection of what masculinity is (we seem good at pointing out what's bad, but are poor at pointing to what's good) has left a lot of younger men confused, and so they gravitate towards those who seem confident, and with a definite answer.

I don't have any omnibus advice or prescription, it very much depends on knowing the individual. Some guys are probably just a few minor tweaks from 'breaking in' to the dating scene. Others need an extreme amount of work. And from a superficial standpoint, you wouldn't be able to tell which one's which, because if you know nothing about them, they just look like an 'average' guy.

I’m not sure where I stand - my Opinions have shifted from experience over the years. For example - my first boyfriend was from Honduras- I am an AfricanAmerican female. Afterward, I dated a black guy, who wasn’t conventionally attractive- substantially shorter than me like maybe 5’5 and skinny. He was charming, sweet, good listener. Very caring. Toward the end of HS, he chose the bad boy approach.. I immediately broke up with him. He ended up getting some life changing wake up calls.. I’m sure he remembers the conversation we had about how much I disagreed with the bad boy thing for the reasons his wake up call ended up occurring. Some call that his karma. Idk.

When I was younger, I tended to not care about money. More of how nice a person was. Like if they were just a good human being. Not what they wore, what they could buy me. Etc. looks weren’t important. However we’ve heard the whole: if a pretty girl dates an ugly or not conventionally attractive person, they become egoic and disrespectful toward her- this started to become my experience- so my own ego was like uh if the person isn’t your type- don’t date them. You could ONS them, but do not date them. I shifted and swayed between not going for my type due to lack of options ( my type wasn’t anything height related). I just realized that someone can have a handsome face, but a horrible personality.. or a great personality and a horrible face. It was SUCH a “girl just give up”. Moment for me. So I did. Essentially, like another commenter said, people’s opinions change to fit whatever delusion they’re living in.. or from experience of being proven wrong, or being educated with solid data and facts- which leads them to change their approach, bringing them better results/ outcomes.

I’d definitely say I’m strongly purple pill, especially after exploring the Manosphere and hearing their view points with evidence. Essentially I took away that a man’s experience is based on what they choose to entertain … if you seek a woman who’s heavily dazzled there is a 50/50 that she’s wanting your money. The shera sprinkle sprinkle lady- I watched one of her videos- which was tough as I cannot get past how she holds her mouth in resting state. — is essentially giving advice that a man needs to pay for their time always , and if they are in and out that women should demand gifts / money. Basically encouraging them to send links of things they want. .

The thing is- some men are ok with this.. some aren’t.

I can ramble on and on to say- people have gotten so consumed with the general trends and have forgotten that we all truly do have a person who’s just for us. Which is why we have types. I see so many couples who are like yes this is my person. I can tell it’s their person too. Others- I can tell- ohhh yall together for stability.. not love. Or the ‘we learned to love each other’ couples too. You can easily sort who’s who from observing.. which is what keeps me hopeful that my person is out there. Unfortunately I am not looking for a finished product. I am not seeking any sort of product. Just a man, who’s emotionally available. That’s really all you need to start walking down the path toward a good thing. You can easily sort out who’s emotionally available too. Thankfully. Emotionally available people move differently. The unavailable ones are posers and you can see their games from a mile away. They literally approach you with games. .

I was a red/black piller before there was a word for it.

I went to an all-boys high school. The only guys who seemed to get any interest at all from girls were the overconfident asshole jocks. I resented their blithe confidence around girls almost as much as I resented the girls’ giggling and fawning over them.

Meanwhile, I was a painfully awkward, stammering weirdo around girls and assumed none of them would ever find me attractive.

Then I got cast in a play where I had to work with them as peers, and quickly realised that they were just awkward, horny freaks like me.

I was still weird as hell around girls, but at least I had some kind of a frame of reference for them where they weren’t mysterious sexy aliens who hated me.

Over the next few years, I had relationships, made women friends and generally managed to socialise with women to the point that I could mix with them without acting like a fucking weirdo (well - no more than when talking to men).

My parents raised me based around the just-world fallacy, everyday I always head” just be a good person and you’ll find the right girl for you”.

And I really believed them, until I got to HS and the trauma related with that led me to incel forums, then chadfishing experiments etc etc

Just a gradual tumble to rock bottom, even if I somehow got in a relationship I still wouldn’t shake my beliefs about the blackpill and the predetermined nature of dating.

Very few will ever change their opinions. The ones that do will become successful players and cease a desire for long term relationships on anything except their terms. Which is a god thing.

The modern economy is not designed with average people having kids anymore. So it's best for most men to eachew it and marriage IMO.

There is nothing wrong with working a job that meets your needs as a single man that you enjoy and simply develop a new lifestyle for yourself.

Ya wanna make women wild? Instead of picking up the console controller, pick up a musical instrument. Any instrument and learn to play. Play a guitar, play a bass play the drums, play a keyboard or a violin or harmonica even.

Do that and then find a way to show it off at open mic nights. Make friends with musicians and follow them around and support your local.music scene. You'll meet plenty of women

First I was “blue-pilled” then I became more “pink pilled,” I guess you could call it that, but now I’m becoming more “black-pilled” in a sense as I am now reaching adulthood. I’ll never care for red-pill nonsense, I know that much. If I meet a really good guy or my life got better then maybe my outlook would change.

I've changed my opinions on stuff a lot over the years, and I probably will again. I'm a practical person, so in my case seeing new evidence that proves me wrong is what does it.

I don't just blindly trust people when somebody tells me I'm wrong and I have a healthy skepticism when faced with new facts that contradict what I believe to be true, but I'm always mentally prepared to be proven wrong. I try not to get too attached to certain truths, and I'm always prepared to change my beliefs when faced with sufficient evidence. It's not easy for most people to do, as ego often gets in the way.

I think the trick is to not let certain belief systems become part of my identity. That's why my subreddit flair says "no pill" because I don't believe in tying my identity to any one pill. I believe the red pillers are 100% correct on a lot of things, and blue pillers are 100% correct on others. I guess that's sort of the definition of purple pill, but even defining yourself as being "somewhere between the two pills" is itself limiting. I'm not 50% blue pill, 50% red pill... I'm "whatever makes the most sense in a given situation" pill. I'm 100% red on issue X, and 100% blue on issue Y. Plus, what if there's another belief system out there that describes certain aspects of dating bullshit even better than the other two paradigms and doesn't depend on either?

I find that anything that makes complicated things sound easy, is usually wrong. In my experience, things are always more complicated than they first appear. Always push yourself to learn more, and challenge your preconceptions about stuff.

Red helps for self development, which is good.

I went on a few dates with a girl, she offered to pay on one occasion. I got the "ick" and felt emasculated and we stopped dating.

Would that be simp behaviour? Probably but I'm more than capable and if there was no sexual outcome after the date it wouldn't phase me the slightest.

My money is good and there are other options out there. She reached out last week but I didn't reply back to her.

From this experience simp behaviour for me is based on a lack of options and scarcity.

I can still pay for a date with a woman and not be phased by any outcome 🤷. Blue pill in dating, red pill for self development.

One marriage. One divorce. One and done. Married life was by far the worst years of my life. Any "family memories" (which are nice) are greatly overshadowed by stress, conflict and just being miserable the entire time. I see pictures in the albums, but the memories behind those shots are far from pleasant. Our cameras show people what we want them to see.

Now I can't even imagine having a girlfriend, or even attempting to start a relationship.

Red Pill for life. I'd rather spend time in nature with a good dog.

The few women who show interest in me, I just run away screaming.

I think young people (Gen Z and later) are facing an entirely different dating market than their predecessors, even Millennials.

Blue pill rhetoric still applied in my early 20s: even as a dateless late bloomer until undergrad, I was able to lose my V-card to a classmate who enjoyed being in my study group. And one of the hottest women I’ve banged was a fellow millennial colleague who got over my Asian-ness and quasi dad bod because we enjoyed working together.

My younger cousins are second-generation Viet immigrants in a predominantly Caucasian country with widespread app usage. They are more wealthy and fit than I am, and just as tall (5’10). None of them lost their virginity until late 20s - one to a masseuse who may have been trolling for a visa. On the other hand, they’ve watched their attractive (white) male friends spin plates for a decade or more. They don’t identify as Red Pill exactly, but they’ve all read 12 Rules for Life and watch stoicism content on YT.

As a science pilled guy i am used to change my mind when enough evidence is available. I am not an ideologue who holds on to beliefs despite contradicting evidence. As a guy knee deep into the human mating science, it's pretty sad to see how much of red pill is ideology and contradicting science, yet the red pillers claim they know the truth and are science based.

Anyone who enters the conversation without being open to change their opinion (and ideally knowing what would change their opinion) is intellectually dishonest. The concept is the same as in science - the theory must be falsifiable, i.e. we need to know what experiment would prove us wrong. Young people are usually quite dumb in that sense and argue to just repeat what they believe in instead of exchanging opinions to reach the truth, so no, they won't change their mind. But maybe they will, when they are older.

In this context, stats (science has nothing to do with this, social science is not science) and observations, maybe not so much anecdotes. Once I see stuff that is not consistent with my worldview, I will happily change my mind. Few instance - if there are stats that not a small minority of men get casual sex, if there are catfishing experiments that show that women don't go for fake profiles because they are nazis or pedophiles and if the entire women like bad boys thing will go away, if I see celebrity women being more likely to date low-status men (than now) and hot women to date unattractive men. There's more, but I'm tired of typing.

When I (26m) was a teen, I was blue pilled, I genuinely believed that all women wanted was a nice guy. I'm still a nice/decent/respectful person, however I'm no longer a "nice guy" who's a pushover.

During my early 20's, I learned about the black pill, I grew up and realised that women are just as lustful towards attractive men, as we are for attractive women, I quickly realised that although personality is king, looks were far more important than I first thought. Online dating is proof of this.

These days I take far better care of myself, I'm still 20% BF (I like food), but I'm FAR better looking than younger me, and now have women give me the time of day.

The only reason why I'm still quite bad with women is due to not socializing enough with women, that's definitely something I need to work on. But the moral of the story is that looks do matter, not as much as personality but they shouldn't be underestimated.
