CROSSPOST FROM A LIFEADVICE SUB

Not sure where to go with my life and relationship

For context, I (21F) am the kind of person who used a new relationship to get out of an old/bad relationship, so the last time I was single was over 4 years ago when I was 16. I have been dating my current bf(21M) for 2.4 years and I love him so much, he's my bestfriend and I cant imagine my life with out him. We met a few days before college started and have been inseparable ever since, and due to a-typical circumstances we've been living together for the most of the time we've been dating. Our relationship is really good, we communicate well, our parents love that we are together, our friends love us together, we find living together very easy, and just all around its a very healthy and wonderful relationship. Here's where the problem is; Ive always wanted to have a "hoe phase". I want a time in my life where I can be single and experience hook up culture and just have lots of strange experiences. I've felt a strong urge to do this throughout all of my relationships, and have felt extremely jealous of those who get to do this, but have tried hard to suppress feeling or work through it but it wont leave me. Me and my bf have talked about this at length and he knows how I feel. Lately the urge has been growing incredibly strong and me and my bf are reaching a turning point in both of our lives, my bf worked extremely hard and is graduating college a year early this spring, I still have a year left. I have struggled greatly in school and i have fallen behind and started to feel extremely depressed and hate the city I go to school in and my friends and just everything. I just cant stay. My boyfriend wants to move to a new city with me after he graduates (he would stay with me in our college town until i graduate, but that's not what I want) but I'm considering possibly ending things and moving abroad, he knows about this and thinks it could possibly be a good option for me as well. I'm almost certain he is my soulmate, but then why do I feel like I need time to be on my own for a bit? I don't want to lose him but I know I cant have my cake and eat it too. I don't want to be 60 and regret my choices. I think our relationship will end in marriage if it continues which scares me as I don't think I'm ready for forever quite yet. Can he really be the one if I feel like this?. Our relationship is as perfect as one can get. I wish we just met later. Also an open relationship is not an option.

TLDR: I feel like I need time to be single and explore but also think my boyfriend is the one, dont want to regret breaking up with him.

The relationship has run its course and it's okay to break up. Woman can have her 'hoe phase' and learn how greener the grass is so that she no longer has these doubts in her next relationship. Man can do the same or find a woman who doesn't have these doubts with him.

Overall both of these people seemingly have their judgement clouded by scarcity mentality. "Soulmates" at 21 aren't real. If you've captured that lightning in a bottle with someone, you likely can do it with someone else. Neither of these people need to fear that they'll never meet someone of the caliber of each other ever again. Also, if they're just finishing college and are weighing their career options in different locations, it sounds like an extra convenient time to break up if it allows them to not need to make career/economic compromises for a meh relationship where at least one of them isn't fully present in it.

You don't like the smell of rotten eggs. Why?

Because rotten eggs are bad for you you've adapted a mechanism to detect rotten eggs before they can make you ill by eating them.

You're given food by someone. It smells like the most rotten foul eggs ever made. You complain.

They tell you this is their secret ingredient, sure it smells like rotten eggs but it has some crazy health benefits or something iono.

Basically it's a net positive and it definitely won't make you sick like rotten eggs will.

But still every time you bring it to your mouth you gag, why?

Because rotten eggs make you sick, that's the underlying reason. That's the reason that you have to overcome to be able to eat the eggs.

Doesn't matter that you've been guaranteed that the eggs won't make you sick. You feel like they will.

I don’t think n count matters. Lust is lust, and as long as a woman has it for you, you’re good to go.

You can often see it in a person’s eyes when you initially meet them. The lust I can see in a “ran through” mid 20s woman with a friend with benefits and a history of clubbing is the same lust I see in the eyes of a virgin. The two people I’m thinking of even flirted with me the same way, where they touch me all over the place and try to hang out with me alone a lot. The ran through woman also liked me back when she was younger, although I don’t know if she was a virgin.

I believe a high n count is only a net negative if you don’t control for certain factors outside the n count.

If you dated a person once in the past when they had a low N count, and then dated them a 2nd time later when they had a high N count, then you’d mostly get the same exact experience. They’re still the same core person at the end of the day.

I don’t have any other evidence than simply observing some people over relatively long periods of time.

I never claimed that. It's not like there is one specific look that all women like, and the only guys that could be considered attractive are a carbon copy of that one look. I just said that the guys who are considered very attractive by swaths of women share certain traits, and therefore, you can safely conclude that it's actually those traits that women find attractive. And every niche look that some women say they like, also includes those traits implicitly. If a woman says that she is into emo guys, she isn't into guys who are emo; she is into facially attractive, tall, lanky, pierced, tattooed guys with a full head of hair (styled in a specific way) who are emo. If a woman says that she is into metalheads, she isn't into metalheads; she is into facially attractive, tall, lanky, or somewhat muscly, tattooed guys with a full head of long hair who are metalheads. When a woman says that she just loves watching nerds nerding out, she isn't imagining pimply fat men roleplaying; she is referring to Henry Cavill assembling his new PC in a wifebeater. they really can't imagine a situation where sex could be off the table due to things like timing, schedules, or internal emotional states other than -> no attraction.

people sometimes have shit they have to take care of in the evenings after work, adverse family situations, issues with roommates, and other things not at all related to sexual attraction. but perhaps that's just my personal life experience dating people in precarious or otherwise bad situations. that's what i get for being non-judgmental and overly accommodating in my youth, but im not even bitter about it at all. it was just what was happening, it was reality.

I think this might be a status thing. Like men have these statuses based on how many women they can attract, how many women they can fuck, so a man who waits seems like a looser, but a man who waits without any issue, bitterness or notion that it's not okay, just becomes weird, simp, and every other word of "low value" man.

Then it's also can be resentment of religion, purity culture and anything associated with that.

Then also, i think it could be hate for women who make men "jump through the hoops" like that is a personal offense, and they are helpless to walk away. But men (not all) hate women with any standards at all, so i think they don't see women as deserving of the right to choose and any criteria.

I've seen people who resent others who don't do something harmful when they themselves do. That sounds a bit confusing so i'll elaborate. I don't drink. And a lot of times in new company people pushed me to. And while they eventually covered up their pushing with "oh, yeah, it's healthy, i'm not like that but good for you" i felt that what they really wanted to say is "you think you're better than us because you don't drink?". that doesn't mean that drinking (moderately) or sleeping around is bad, but it could feel as it's bad and there could be internal shame, so when met with someone who avoids something bad those people want to prove that they are not worse, they had some reasons, and this person isn't better.

It’s tough to reconcile blackpill Tinder experiments with my own experiences with women and say anything other than “women will have sex with you if they’re attracted to you, especially if they’re comfortable around you after a couple hours”.

If you want to have sex, and you’re attractive to the people you want to have it with, then people of all sorts of different backgrounds and personalities are going to have sex with you, including “low N” people.

I acknowledge that chaste women do in fact exist somewhere, but like… seriously, the average woman will have safe sex with you, if she wants you, and you initiate kissing/making out. Sex on the first date with people who barely know you is absurdly common, and kind of formulaic (not “easy”, but straightforward and simple) to get. I have no basis for believing that average women abstain from sex much from men that they are attracted to.

I guess I could add a bunch of “typical” reasons:

It’s good to test chemistry early
Sex is fun, and a core reason why relationships exist
(Already mentioned) The average person is sex positive, and if they don’t want to have sex with you, that’s not really a good sign that they actually want you, especially if you make a higher income than them
It gives me an incentive to talk to people more. Dating without sex is miserable.
It seems to help avoid gold diggers and provider roles, in favor of unburdened women who just want to sleep with you. Most likely a win/win
Having any question in your mind for whether your partner finds you attractive will probably drive you a bit crazy in the future if her libido lowers for no reason. It’s nice to not have that be a concern, and I can at least cross off physical needs as a reason she might cheat (there are other reasons, but still)

I’m asking because on past comments where I or others mention consistent waiting I’ve seen downvotes. I’m curious to know if anyone wants to offer up why they appear to have an issue with that. I've been having the exact same arguments with different people on here for days, and they consistently use this model to assign blame for poor dating outcomes.

My advice to anyone trying to argue against this framework to keep your replies short and to the point, maintain your original frame, and watch them expose themselves when you point out their logical fallacies and the implications of their belief system.

I've been thinking about something similar recently, it reminds me a bit of the old "if she's wearing slutty clothing, she's basically asking to be harassed by men".

I think it's a matter of language being too imprecise to deal with the scope of what we're discussing which leads to frustration.

Like imagine I'm traveling to another country with a friend and we knowingly visit a city with high rate of crime and we (knowingly) walk late at night in the shadiest neighbourhood there is while looking like the well-off first-world tourists that we are. And then we get mugged by some gang of criminals.

Of course, a moral fault solely lies with the muggers since me and my friend didn't do anything morally reprehensible. However, we still consciously contributed to the causal chain of events that resulted in us getting mugged. How do I adequately adress this?

Are we at "fault"? Did we do anything "wrong"? Are we "responsible"? Are we to "blame"? And what if we repeat this behaviour and get mugged another 5 times on the same trip? Frankly, I don't know how to answer these questions definitively.

Well when I thought to post this, I was primarily thinking of the last girl I dated and what she told me about her friend group and who was doing what with which men (or in one case, women), which she told me.

Which makes you an expert on the inner workings of female friend groups, right?

Overall, despite them being fairly attractive, they, if the girl is to be believed, were behaving more like good girls rather than bad girls, so it actually warmed my heart, and improved my feelings towards women at large.

I don't really know what this has to do with my point. Your notions of "good girls" and/vs "bad girls" is super patronizing and again, makes me think of minors.

The end result is the same - having sex with each other. Anatomically one of them penetrates and the other one receives, but you are the one trying to ascribe psychological meaning to this. So, when she's riding him, do any of those things apply?

A man having sex with a woman is a completely different feeling than what a woman experiences having sex with a man. THey aren't "the same" at all.
