I don't get the obsession with "self improvement goals." Like, why are you basing your self esteem on meeting some criteria? So what if you can knit a sweater, or bench press 25 more pounds than before? Who cares? Answer: no one.

If you have a healthy amount of self esteem then you'll see yourself as already good enough.

"You should self improve for its own sake." ... implying that if you don't want to "self improve" then you're lazy and bad. But also, if you have things to improve then you're not good enough as you are. So, either way, you're not good, which is the whole point behind the "work on yourself" crowd.

Also, it's funny how, if your goal - for how to improve your life - is to get into a healthy romantic relationship, than is not defined as "self improvement."

Lost 3 lbs so far. The problem with being near the same size as my highschool self is considering dressing like highschool me.

So that might be a backslide lol. I'd like to lose a bit more and grow my ass somehow. And get better at doing lipstick. I never wear it cause I always instantly smear it somehow.

Gona keep on the fasting and cico grind. Maybe take a look at some of my old clothes and see how it's going but I don't think they'll fit oversized like I want them too yet

Current self improvement goals are:

Become more lean. I don't like the shredded look myself so I have to compromise. It will probably be hard since even with a strong routine I cant gain weight. I am hovering around 175lbs as a 6.4 man.
Become more social. I don't know if that will work because of my autism. I am currently working on it, by joining social clubs, going out three times a week and joining college sports.
Fixing my Hair and Skin. My Akne is finally on its way out and Ill try some new haircuts soon, at least once my hair grows back. I will try to fix my scars too but this is currently too expensive. So I have to save up for it.
Ill be moving out next month too.

All in all very small goals but it will be quite a struggle to achieve them.

-Currently on a cut to have a better v-taper effect going on and get much, much better ab definition; in August I'll start focusing on bulking for an undefined period of time. Though my focus will be particularly on building useful, functional muscle so I don't become stiff and slow.

-I'm planning to up my MMA game by taking my grappling more seriously, and quite possibly looking to get boxing/kickboxing matches and/or grappling tournaments under my belt.

-I'm also heavily considering going back to school; the price and the struggle might pay off if it leads to some cushy job where I do a lot of nothing and make good money on top of it. (I love manual labor, but I know for the pay and toll on your body, it's not really sustainable. And that's not even to mention how shitty the hours can be)

Im already steadily making progress in the gym, on savings/investments and on improving my health and habits. Slowly but surely.

I need to take active steps to increase my income (probably gonna look like a new job and ideally skills and certifications) improve my looks (skincare, hairstyle, clothing) and learn skills I need to accomplish what I want in life (homesteading and becoming a charismatic person). I also need to work harder on finishing my drivers license.

Something I am actively doing right now is looking at getting my jaw and teeth fixed. Apparently I had a tooth on one side of my lower jaw pulled due to crowding. Something which I had completely forgotten as it was done when I was 12. Most likely it was a completely pointless procedure and just served to fuck up my jaw and teeth in the long run.

I was looking at why my jaw and teeth just looked off, and only then did I realize I was missing a tooth. Had to go to my dentist to get the records that it was pulled out. They also refused to do anything about it and told me there is no way in their professional opinion that the missing tooth caused any issues or imbalances to my jaw (objectively false) and the shifted and slightly crooked teeth are not bad enough to bother with any treatment, let alone surgery. Now I am changing dentists so I can get a referral to get it fixed. Probably also gonna look into if I can do something about the tooth being pulled in the first place in terms of atleast recovering the money I will have to spend on surgery to fix it. Though I might not bother as I doubt the surgery will cost any insane amount and at a point it just isnt worth the effort.

Wow, I actually have self improvement goals for the year. I usually meander through my life and things just kinda...work out. Intentionality is a strange concept and something I'll have to get used to.

1.) get certified in Google Analytics; my boss and his boss have discovered a need for a google analytics person on our team, however no one internally is certified and they don't want to have to hire an outside contractor for the position. I don't have my certification yet but I'm half way there, so once I complete that I'll use my cert. to negotiate a raise and a byline on my job title.

lose 10-15 lbs; I'm already healthy slim and fit with 15 years of consistent exercise under my belt. However I have a layer of softness and mom jiggle I'd like to cut so I can comfortably wear a bikini 24/7 while in Florida.

Cutting down on my stress levels, so I don't work myself to death.
Hitting my exercise goals, so I get back in shape. (I tend to be underweight when my stress is at an all-time high.)
Devoting more time to my hobbies, like writing and playing guitar.
Getting rid of clothes I don't need, so I can focus on building my capsule wardrobe of high-quality pieces.
Enrolling in a new Dutch language course.

Upskilling myself. Gotta watch some online courses on web development.
Looksmaxxing. Need to continue to improve my skin and physique.
Increasing my finances. Invest , don't spend too much on weird stuff and try to increase sources of income.
Getting a gf lol or at least a FWB. Probably will need 5 years for this :(

It's seemingly impossible to find a reasonable woman who doesn't hate fat men. I've tried losing weight for nearly a decade to much struggle, pain, and failure.

Currently I'm doing lots of fasting. First 8.5 days of no food, now I'm only eating every other day. May do some more longer fasts. This seems possible for me, though it does come with physical, mental, and academic costs. But I don't know if I will be able to like women after, as I'd know it's for shallow reasons and that previously they were contributing to my pain. Would I ever be able to love someone knowing their foul side?

Part of me thinks I shouldn't even lose weight until (if it ever happens) one woman finally accepts me for who I am, only then losing weight and hope we stay together for life.

I don't know if I'll ever have a normal relationship. If I'm with someone my age, like 23-27 then I'm out of place as a noob and them experienced. If it's someone younger like 16-20, it's out of place because I'm older. Maybe with an elite 18-20 year old entering their first or second relationship, but that seems unlikely to happen.

Got a long road ahead, but it's a noble road. Way further along than I ever anticipated. Going to do everything I can to live the best life I can.

Not a thing. I’ve truly given up. Nothing to do with women I can get sex or a relationship today if I wanted. I’m existentially destroyed over being infertile and a lover who left me because of it (I encouraged her to move on no future in me)

I’m basically just on call for friends and family that need help and can use my skills or truck. Waiting to die otherwise

Been considering finding a way to join Wagner PMC I wouldn’t mind going out with a middle finger to NATO and the New World Order

I am going to be job hopping.

I'm very loyal and good at/lucky at getting promoted and it has made me complacent. I could be making a lot more but that complacency and a hatred of interviewing has been holding me back.

Never stop interviewing. Even if it's only once every few months.

I don't plan to switch companies every year or two or anything, but neither am I going to just stay in the same place when people with my skills/CV are getting paid more when they start the same type of job elsewhere.

Figure out a workout that I genuinely enjoy doing solo, and ideally for cheap/free. Running is the most ideal but I struggle to enjoy it. (Yes, I play music) // corollary: lose 10lb of fat, gain more muscle.
continue improving my diet — cook more, eat more fruits/veg. I really like how I feel when I eat a lot of grapefruit and yogurt.

When I was a young man, I had a lot of energy and excellent intentions. But, I caused a lot of collateral damage due to being too hasty. I have since calmed down, and definitely work smarter, not harder.

I apply this to all aspects of my life, from my career, to grocery shopping, to replacing the floors in my house. Patience is the key here. Long spans of time doing things - usually by yourself - with no guarantee of any sort of reward or success.

Also, preparation and forethought. It is definitely true that luck is where being prepared and opportunity meet. You never know when you are going to need a skill or object. So, be prepared.

This does NOT mean become a hoarder and surround yourself with objects just in case you need them, or spend gobs of money to "fix" problems that don't exist. This actually means the opposite. Live lean, and with only a few objects that you become supremely proficient with. Spend $100 on one useful and practical item, rather than $5 on twenty of them.

And, so, take care of your stuff. And don't get embarrassed about owning or using it. It's all in the application.

Get dressed better (the easist one which I could do in a day or two). Get from 20 to 15% bf(and retain strength which is going to be a harder part). Learn to cook smtg more complicated than an egg. Learn to dance.

That's basically it. I'd argue that I perfected all other areas that I could impact.

I want to get stronger physically, and buy better clothes. I want to spend more time making art and writing.

I’ve started to lift weights again, and eating better. I bought an art diary course. If we don’t count this week, I wrote 4-6 pages every day.

My challenges are poor sleep quality and lack of confidence.

Morning pages and artist’s dates have helped me a lot in the past. Having weights and other equipment at home work better for me than going to the gym. I guess doing a little bit every day, roughly around the same time helps building routine.

I myself am in the best physical condition of my life. I might be just a short 5'3 dude who weighs 58 kgs, but I can certainly lift and my physique is in tip top shape. I studied to be a personal trainer which is going on well. My finances are growing and my mental strenght is growing. I started to give up on women, which it might seem bad to some people but after I wasted my time and money chasing women, trying to get a woman and all I got was failure after failure after failure, I came to realise: getting women is not for every man. Like it or not, physical attractiviness is the first step of getting a gf and i just don't have that and I accepted it. To keep blaming myself for my failure in getting a woman is not healthy. Sometimes not everything is under your control, especially when it comes to dating.

But yeah, I am still on the grind, still going to the gym 6 times a week, traininga couple of people, working to grow my finances, reading, playing my games. Life is certainly improving on me.

i’m at a point of my life where i’m in the best shape of my life (220lb powerlifter/strongman build), i’m able to hold steady work and i have my own apartment. I’m also carving out my own external identity by carving my own unique fashion sense and i’m actively getting better at socializing. I’ve also grown significantly in that i’ve gotten much wiser and empathetic (although i can still always get better in all these fronts)

Though my main self improvement goal at this point is focusing on my own mental health and repairing the shitstorm that is my own trauma responses - i have bad ptsd, anxiety and bpd (as well as ADHD) so correcting my mental and emotional patterns is quite difficult, but being able to learn all that about myself and actively working on it has so far been a game changer.

Bit of advice:

Never ever improve yourself for any reason other than truly wanting it for yourself, and only yourself.

For example don't go 'looksmaxxing' or 'gymmaxxing' just in order to be noticed by the opposite sex. This will lead to disaster. Why? Because in your mind, this is all part of a transactional system where you believe that since you've changed yourself, you should now be accepted or admired, and when the opposite occurs where you get rejected, you become irate wondering what you did wrong while the next guy succeeded.

This is because the person who has committed themselves to a mindset like the red pill, he is already narcissistic and has an inflated ego, albeit fragile. What this means is that his reaction is going to be a toxic one.

This is where advice like understanding our own character traits comes in and is oh so important. Confidence and self esteem should be the first traits gained. They should not feel like alien concepts.
