It's not evil per se. What men loathe is having grown up being told women don't operate the way they do. At least in America.

In South America, hypergamy is not only widely recognized, but also openly fostered.

Atleast for me, it basically means I can’t be in a healthy relationship. I know my worth. I’m not the most attractive guy and I’ve got a pretty bad anxiety disorder. I’m very easily replaceable. Almost anyone else would be better than me. Being in a relationship wouldn’t be healthy for me because that thought will always be there.

I think that the issue may be the combination of careerist women AND hypergamy; then there are supereducated women wanting super super supereducated men, who simply don't exist in such numbers. Causing unhappy men AND unhappy women

For hypergamy to work in a society where at least half citizens are men, a large portion of the men have to be excluded from sexual relationships as a mathematical rule.

The fundamental principle that has made most civilizations successful is the family unit. Men without families are far less productive and selfish in their behavior. Hypergamy assures this will only increase.

I don't think hypergamy is evil nor do I think that it destroys the planet.

I do think that it makes my life significantly worse than it would be if it didn't exist.

Also, hypergamy is the main thing that makes what women call "love" something I can't really value.

The biggest thing isn't hypergamy itself but how society treats the different strategies. Society bends over backwards with everything to shame, guilt or manipulate men into being attracted to fat and undesirable women. No women is left behind in the eye of society these days and men are the shallow pigs.

On the reverse situation the only thing men get told "Yeah you just suck if you can't measure up" or typical blue pill lies. Women's preferences are always somehow justified even if they are not only the same as men's (looks) but also extending over job, occupation and what ever she wants.

At the very least its a big disappointment for young men who were raised to believe that there is “someone for everyone”. If you just work hard enough you can have your own family someday.

So, average Joe works hard, does everything right, then…

Its not enough for “Joe” to ignore the Stacies because he has no chance with them. Under Hypergamy, even these Beckys fight over the few men who meet the top standards. And she’ll wait for decades if necessary for the big “score.”

Hypergamy ruins opportunities because it places value on the things that don’t make for a lasting relationship. So it can hurt everyone in the end.

I think hypergamy's fearsomeness isn't in the social mobility aspect, but the assumed stone-stepping. I think the fear some guys have is some women will use them as stepping stones; as in, they're not 'good enough', so the woman will use the guy to 'step up' the (social/economic/relationship) ladder. The guy isn't the mile stone, they're the stepping stone - this is the fear from what I can tell.

After browsing this sub for a few weeks it has become clear men really loathe it, I am trying to understand why this is viewed so negatively.

Remember this sub isnt a good example for how it is in real life, the different pill movements usually draws people who in some form or another are or have been social outcasts, or people who have experienced the same negative patterns troughout their dating life, so Simply put if everything is going good and well in your life you probably wouldnt be on this sub.

And ontop of that comes cultural differences since in this sub we're a good chunk of people from different countries, and cultures which will also make the opinions in here a poor representation of how reality is for any topic getting discussed in this sub

I'd like to clarify nothing I wrote here should be seen as a negative or that its only people who have or are social outcasts(harsh word but I find it the most fitting in the context of english being my second language) and ofcourse people with "good lifes" can also be drawn towards theese discussions and theese communities, I'm just highlighting that its probably not the case for most people in this sub

I think the real issue isn’t hypergamy. Women have always been hypergamous, that’s why men developed to be so competitive amongst eachother. We had to perform to mate.

The issue now is that this isn’t any other time in human history. Women are no longer controlled by gender roles. They dominate education and at this rate will out earn men in this century.

Men are mad because women have been given equality by men, but have decided to take advantage of the opportunity and reap all the benefits and none of the negatives.

Women are now entering high paying industry, and maintaining their hypergamous frame. It’s created a historic shortage of couples because women refuse to take the good with the bad. They want high paying careers and equal opportunities to get them, and they also want their men to outperform their high paying careers.

Men are losing the ability to have families at an astonishing rate because of this cake eating.

Meanwhile, the top class of men are having historic success with women because women can now hold out on relationships longer to compete for them.

Basically the middle class of men who had ok families and ok lives are shrinking.

Hypergamy is basically the same. It's not good or evil it's a force of nature. Men hate it because they are usually on the receiving end of it. They're the ones who get cheated on, and thanks to hypergamy it'll happen when men are at their lowest. The guy will lose his job due to his company facing a lawsuit or whatever and his wife will branch swing to an old friend who happens to have kept his job and she'll also go for the jugular in the divorce, to make sure she and the new guy can buy a beach house for their honeymoon. This isn't good or evil, it's reality. Women lose any kind of feelings for men they don't respect anymore and they can really only respect the top guy they have access to. All men below him turn into mindless NPCs to her. Countless examples of this. Women are extremely practical at their best and ruthlessly Macchiavelian at their worst.

I think the main reason men get upset by it is the fear that if all women want "better," then they'll never measure up. They're essentially afraid of being completely locked out of the possibility of matching up with women they're attracted to, or even any women at all.

It's not "horrible evil." It's just not very conducive to a functioning, advancing society. With women's selection choices, we're closer to going back to living in mud huts and eating dirt than we are to evolving to the point of not needing to worry about going back there again.

I think that it's because social media and dating apps have made hypergamy run out of control. Women are no longer settling for someone "slightly better" like they did in the past, meaning that the highest value men are often running soft harems of FWBs.

Then, when average women do want to settle down, they are having to settle for men who are lesser than the men who they had casual sex or FWB relationships with in the past, meaning that they are not treating these men as well as they did other men. Or, they are just staying single, and the average men are having to stay single as well.

I don’t think it’s evil and I don’t know what the future will hold, though I think it’s not going to be pleasant for most men because of it. That being said, if a woman is attracted to a more attractive man and wants to leave, then how can you really be angry? It’s nature. We have to accept that some men are genetically inferior and some superior to us as individuals.

And before someone says “stop with this male genetic bullshit, women care about personalities just as much!”, I would say that is largely determined by your genes as well. Being charming is a skill that can be honed, but just like anything, some people have a higher potential/ceiling than others.

It’s because the career woman doesn’t ease her hypergamic demands at all, but demands an even more successful man, pushing towards a superhuman ideal. This hypergamic arms race is not sustainable when women are also competing with men in the job market/career.

I think the hate for hypergamy steam for the inadequacy experienced when it is realized that a man will never be attractive to the type of women he is most attracted too (his own desire for the best). Also the fear of losing their wife or girlfriend to a better man

I don’t think men truly hate career women, it just in most cases does not add to the attractiveness of a women to men (political marriage, gold digging man maybe), although most families require two incomes now. Childcare is a mess now however, there needs to be some type of modernization of the family structure.

I could see competition and emasculation being a factor for the hate of career woman as well though. Also the lack of control, where in the past relationships had less equality financially.

Society was built on a male patriarchal system. Every man had a woman to work for. Contraception has put hypergamy on steroids and has removed beta provider traits in mate selection. Beta providers built society. Now they don’t have to build society society will decline.

It's not evil, but it is unfair. Nature is unfair and cruel, which is what hypergamy is. However, nature ensures survival of the fittest, so it was necessary at some point and still may be. For a society obsessed with equality and fairness, it seems odd to just gloss over this which is why some people may be mad.
