Honestly, I know people want to hate this comment, but whatever numbers they think should fit it’s still crazy to me that girls who have a creepy old guy calling them cutie are willing to throw up a hashtag metoo along with girls that were forcibly raped. Even if you think it’s 33/33/33 on the numbers of girls looking for attention vs harmless comments that almost everyone hears or failed attempts vs actual rape victims, that’s still 33% that are simply trying to gain social capital off the victims of rape and society is completely on board. Some older lady at Work referring to me as “HD” for handsome devil is not even close to the same as someone being forcibly raped, and the fact that if I was a girl people would give me tons of likes etc. for sharing that on Facebook is unfortunate. No, no they don't. now i am not gonna argue semantics here with you but to say that every single woman on earth has every man she encounters on a daily basis walk up to her and suggestively rub her belly is just ludicrous. The vast majority of men do not go around touching women uninvited.

What i was pointing out was the fact that while she is holding her boyfriends hand and thought it was 'appropriate' to rub against another man, not only uninvited but in a very sexually suggestive manner and that in a revered situation her response would of been much, much different.

Did you not read any of the well thought-out responses there and links to additional information that people have provided? Many smarter people who can articulate the points much better than I can have painted a clear picture of the numerous problems a rational person should have with SJW culture.

I'll point out that I'm a progressive liberal who wants to fix income inequality, yet I'm a free market capitalist who wants equality of opportunity (not equality of outcome) and there is the big problem I have with SJW culture. It pushes for equality of outcome.

It creates a new strawman for every perceived outrage (like man spreading, white privilege, and internalized oppression) instead of focusing it's energy on the REAL problems that plague society; such as the corrupt political elite, and an entrenched Prison Industrial Complex, etc...real things that cause real harm to society.

If these asinine contrivances like mansplaining or body shaming caused society genuine harm, then by all means we should address them. Instead, they're a convenient source of that dopamine rush that comes with feeling culturally superior. Self-righteous indignation is a hell of a drug.

SJW's seek to be offended, often on behalf of someone else, because they're in a victimhood arms race. That's it. It's shameful, narcissistic, and provides a convenient escape: You don't have to fight the big fires if you're constantly lighting new ones.

Same can be said about identity politics. The backlash from both gave rise to Trump and all the Dominionist Nationalist Neo-fascist MAGA idiots who worship him.

Lastly, if you look at the reports coming out of the Russia investigation and compare that with stated chekist strategy, it's obvious that both SJW's & Conservatives have been played against each other; forming opposite ends of the ideological horseshoe that we're currently trapped in.

The free market is not the problem because we do not have a free market. That's a whole other can of worms.

I'm not sure I can convince you that SJW culture is Marxism, because you seem to have a different definition. To me, and many others (not just the alt-right) the parallels are obvious. It's creating a persecuted class and goading it into attacking the perceived oppressors.

Instead of the proletariat vs bourgeoisie, it's SJW's vs white "cis-het" males. It's the same ideological warfare with new names for millennials. I don't see how anyone familiar with history can justify seeing it any other way.

To use the over used cliche of the internet, they want a "safe space" free of trolls to discuss what they want to.

Which if you got people that just troll constantly it makes sense to ban them. But having a bot pre ban people or scroll through subs you don't like as a mod (when they hit front page) and pre ban people

Forums, Reddit, 4chan,8chan,and voat all have anonymity if the user so chooses. Which makes the opinions shared in these places have "more value" IMO. Because if you choose to be anonymous, you aren't fearful of social repercussions. Or held to social norms. So you can be who you really are and say what you really believe.

Here you can say what you want and how you want because you are anonymous. If the mods ban you when you don't troll and Bassically leave them alone it only proves they are completely incaple of having their opinions challenged or having their moral code held to scrunity.Expecally when seemingly lots of guys other then me have had this happen.

You say feminists 'hate men', yet you hate women and generalise like a junior school kid

Modenr feminism is comprised of radfem manhaters. Both my mother and grandmother were real feminists. They fought to go to college and the workplace. They fought actual oppression and harassment. They were both strong independent women who made a life of their own chosing, including deciding, at different points, to be SAHMs. Both acted like ladies. Modern feminism treats young women as infants lacking agency, who need trigger warnings and protections from bad feelings. All men are rapists now. Natural consequences from volitional conduct (leaving the workforce for ten years; feeling bad because you engaged in risky, hedonistic behavior) are treated as oppression. Equal opportunity is not good enough; now we must tear others down to achieve 50/50 parity for all "good jobs" even when many women simply aren't willing to make the same kinds of sacrifices men do to get those positions (ignoring their family, working 80+ hours a week, not taking maternity leave, etc.) or would rather work in less stressful, less competitive environments with more collegiality and work-life balance.

I'm a 47 year old woman who has never had kids by choice, have worked for 30 years non stop so far in a male dominated environment, never taken money from any man as I buy everything for myself , my house I live happily alone in and maintain myself,,my car I also maintain myself,my horses, my horse lorry etc etc etc. I've lived all over the world alone for 10 years and have escaped some horrific attempted sex assaults in various countries from SOME men, and have seen SOME waste of space, pathetic victim type women who can't do a fucking thing for themselves, trade on their vacuous looks etc etc ...but I'm NOT them, and won't read yet another stupid generalisation . There are plenty of women like me in Europe, who do actually stand shoulder to shoulder with the best of men. Men aren’t being demonized. Rapists and abusers are being demonized. I see the #metoo hashtag and don’t think it is anyway an assault on my dick, I learned not to touch people without their permission at the ripe age of 3, I learned to respect boundaries at 5. I can say I have never had a woman accuse me of unwanted advances. And I have never felt victimized because sexual abuse is being acknowledged.

I also see men I know feel more open to talk about sexual abuse they encountered. Look at Terry Crews for example.

If you want to defend Weinstein and other criminals go for it. I just want you to know this is not threatening you, unless you are a really shitty guy who is a predator.

Are there some shitty women who are trying to suppress male victims? Yes there are. Are there even more shitty men defending Weinstein and yelling “you should have reported it then” or “you deserved it?” Yes there are.

As a society we should be trying to stamp out sexual abuse regardless of gender. Women and men are not at war about this, they are allies in the fight against sexual assault.

Oh look, someone else making it about them. The "you" in my post CLEARLY does not mean every individual "you" reading my comment. You could absolutely be a victim and be totally right using metoo. I'm not saying you, or men in general can't use it.

If you actually read my comment and tried to understand instead of "reeeee someone's potentially disagreeing with me", you'd clearly see I meant that metoo is not an opportunity for mens rights vs. extreme feminism. In my social media groups MeToo has actually started great conversations and opened a lot of people's eyes (my own as well) to how common sexual harassment is, for all genders. Yet the stickied comment here is an attempt to debase the metoo trend for the sake of "men are victims too!".. it's pointless and fucking stupid. I'm not saying men aren't victims, I'm saying that's not the point of any of this, so saying that is trying to take something good and make it about the mod's personal agenda.

As I JUST stated in my post above;

it spreads the idea that everyone should speak up against harassment and not stay silent.

And this isn't some nebulous concept that doesn't have anything to show for it. The MeToo idea came from Harvey Weinstein's victims coming out. As more spoke out, more and more victims felt comfortable to tell the world what they went through. Is that all just attention grabbing to you? Because it's pretty goddamn real to them.

If some of those women lied, then yes they should be held accountable, but the level of detail and evidence to back up the majority of what these women are saying about Harvey W. is pretty damn incriminating.

So to state for a third time; MeToo is not about attention for individuals, it's about telling victims and those that know others are being sexually harassed to not stay silent. It's likely because of people like you that write it off as attention-grabbing that they stay silent in the first place. I guess it's no wonder you don't like the movement.

People have known for decades about issues like this. There are jokes in movies from Hollywood about this casting couch thing. Even Marilynn Monroe had a part that made a joke about this.

Then explain to me why, after over 20 years of Harvey Weinstein sexually harassing countless women, are they now coming forward about it? Again, for the fourth time in our discussion, IT IS ABOUT SPEAKING UP. It's not about knowing the issue exists, it's about getting people to speak up. Fuck, I don't know how many times I have to say that.

The problem is that nobody's doing anything to stop it. This movement is no exception to that.

If that's your opinion, then what are you doing about it? I'm not saying you can't criticize something, but if your criticism is that it isn't doing anything then you yourself have to actually be doing something. Otherwise you're being hypocritical.

It's a twitter hashtag, it takes minimal effort to find someone misusing it. I also never said it wasn't ever used correctly.

While I'm here I'll share my opinion on these hashtag campaigns. Things like #metoo are only attention grabbers. They do no tangible good. "Raising awareness" is 1% of 1% of the work needed to fix a problem. Volunteer for an organization, have meaningful dialogue, I'm behind you. But hashtags are a hollow way to "change" anything.

I quite agree with the idea behind #metoo, but I hate using hashtags because far too often it is a way of getting people to feel like they did something when all they did was type 2 words. I worked for my church's outreach team for years until I moved away. We went to people to help with situations like this. Or church had counseling, fundraisers, and more. It isn't hard to volunteer, and it is meaningful. So if you are behind #metoo, put actions to it. It is a worthwhile experience to give back, and you can spread the ideas of the #metoo campaign through actions instead.

Yeah, you're not getting my point at all. I've said it 4 times already.

I'd agree with you on some hashtags, like when people just post "thoughts and prayers" after tragedies. Sometimes it's just a lazy attempt to participate without actually adding anything constructive. This is so much more than that, though. People are actually putting themselves out to the public in a way that can hurt them.

Imagine someone young that was/is a victim of sexual harassment. It is well known that in especially young victims, they blame themselves and internalize everything. Now imagine they see this movement, they see other people close to them that they respect come out and admit that they too were victims. Now, suddenly they don't feel so alone. Maybe they start to think more about it and realize they aren't to blame for someone else sexually harassing them. They seek help they need because they aren't internalizing it any more.

But so many people have the same thought process as you, that most of these are just attention grabs. THAT IS WHAT HURTS THESE PEOPLE. Because if they DO come out and say they were victims then you have this counter-reaction of "oh, but you're probably just doing it for attention". I don't know you personally, but your opinion probably matters to some other people that you know.

Sorry, I ranted a little, but being so openly critical about these movements for as small of a reason as "some people use it for attention" can actually do a lot of damage. I don't think it's your goal to squelch real victims, but you can do that without realizing it.

yet again, more than awareness. Finding out that someone you are close to was personally victimized by sexual harassment is way more than awareness that an issue exists.

Of course people know sexual harassment exists. That's not the point. It's way more meaningful when people you are close to reveal they they were victims of it. Like I was saying before, close friends of mine have used the status and I know them enough to know they aren't fucking around.

Maybe think of it like this. We all have heard of human trafficking. What if a large number of people you are close to suddenly came out that they had been trafficked at some point, like literally kidnapped and forced to be a sex slave. You would take it a whole lot more seriously and maybe take action. Action that would otherwise not have been taken if they didn't say anything about it.

That's an extreme example, but it's not too dissimilar to this.

I disagree with "movements" because they are built on feeling good, and the slogans get more attention than the actual issues. Twice now I have said that the people need support, but you are razor focused on the fact that I am critical of the hashtag. I see tons of posts offering consolation, but internet comments are worthless. People need support, not supportive hashtags. People don't need hashtags to see examples of others that go through sexual assault, they need to talk about it. You saying that you knew they weren't fucking around once your friend used the hashtag is an example of my point. It doesn't take a hashtag, it is always serious.

People need direct support, people need examples of others in their position that can support them, not a hashtag. A hashtag can only make people aware, it does nothing else.

This didn't start by me discussing the severity of things you shouldn't do in the first place. This started when you commented on the post above which said: "Touching abs is equal to touching abs, not breasts. That's not a balanced comparison." I disagreed with your response, because to me it implied that touching someones sex organs is the same as any other unwanted touching, which it is not.

We can agree that unwanted touching is something you shouldn't do in the first place. I am not trying to argue the fact that you shouldn't grope random people. I never said that there level of fuck up wasn't that bad, I'm simply saying that not all unwanted touching is the same, and to treat it as such oversimplifies the issue. Second, you don't get to determine the level of offense others are allowed to take, just because someone patting your head, doesn't bother you as much as someone grabbing your junk. For others, both acts may seem equally horrifying or offensive to them, and it's not your place to be the arbiter of the level offense they take at unwanted groping of any sort. You don't know the trauma others have been through, so you coming in here and placing your subjective values on someone else's experience of an event is rather hubristic.

So sure, for you it's not the same, for others it may be.

The video is kinda funny but some of the comments here are disgusting. The "me too" thing isn't about women who were touched on the stomach inappropriately, it's about women who were raped. I have a close friend who went through that when she was very young, and I don't mean she was simply touched in the wrong place. She was violated in the worst ways possible over a long period of time. That is something you can just "get the fuck on with your life" after (as one of the mods in this sub put it). The me too movement, and seeing the stories of so many other victims, has helped her a lot in dealing with something extremely painful.

On top of that, I thought a hot topic in the men's right movement right now was that sexual assault against men isn't taken seriously (which it absolutely fucking should be). Belittling what women have gone through doesn't do anything to help men who have gone through the same thing.

And yes, before someone feels the need to point it out, some women do play the victim card, and some women have probably used "me too" because a guy looked at them for a second too long. I'm not defending those women, and they have nothing to do with the men and women who have actually been raped.

It’s satire. Plain and simple. It’s a crude imitation used to expose, bring attention to, or attempt to change a certain aspect of society. I doubt the majority of people here are actually calling it rape, they are just imitating how the “feminazis” would react if the genders were switched. Yes you are right, neither cases are realistically rape, its just creepy. People keep mentioning your username but I know women who are EXACTLY like what you're describing. I had a female friend who, during my time of being friends with her, she began to like two guys. Not at the same time, this was two different occassions. Both times, she ended up sleeping with the guy, and both times the guys ended up not wanting much to do with them after fucking them.

Both guys, before she slept with them, and right after she slept with them, she said they were amazing guys and sweet and charming. Once the hammer fell that the guys didn't actually like her, her story would change and now she was "raped" and told a significantly different story.

I called her out on this the second time it happened. Her and her girlfriends ganged up on me like fucking seagulls calling me a victim blamer.

I've never spoken to any of them since.

I absolutely have, and it isn't frowned upon when it's a group all engaging in this sort of behaviour together or among friends. It's absolutely frowned upon to approach a stranger and touch them in a sexual manner and you'll find yourself quickly ostracised for doing it too much.

How do you think people hook up when you can't hear each other? You touch each other.

Because the only way she could have touched him to get his attention was groping his abs like that? When I want to get a woman's attention but the music is too loud or she's otherwise unable to really focus, I'll tap her shoulder or forearm, maybe a palm on the back while I say what I need to say. I don't go up to her and stroke her stomach for the sake of doing it and pretend it was only to get her to notice me.

On my stomach? I wouldn't really mind if we were in a situation like that and it was for 2.5 seconds? I just don't see how that's harassment. I'm a survivor of sexual assault and I've got mates, both men and women, who've dealt with the same thing as me . I think this sub is just a tad biased, and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon of blowing things out of proportion. Maybe he knew the woman? Maybe he thought she was ugly and he didn't want her touching him? Maybe he's gay and if it was a bloke he'd be fine? Or maybe he just didn't like it! Simple. It's just my opinion and I was asking a question, seeing it as "okay" from my point of view. It's about his interpretation of it. I'm all for equal rights between both sexes so don't think I'm trying anything on. I just noticed a lot of videos/pictures on this sub are sometimes misinformed, taken out of context, or read the wrong way. A lot of women do the same thing and I hate it.
