1) Opportunity to display leadership skills to wife and kids. Didn’t make it a big deal but I’ve been slowly And quietly prepping over a month- cases of water and can goods stored up- check. Gun and ammo- check.

2) Explaining to kids the important of remaining calm and Level headed.

3) Pointing out to my kids all the triggered fat fucks -men and women on Facebook and their Feelz rants.. All based on Feelz. “I want my sports, I want my parties, this is so stupid , all media hype to derail trump. The flu is worse than this”. Lazy, selfish, spoiled fuck fats. Low T levels. Don’t be like them. All consumers.

4) chance to show kids how a reasonable person should look at the data and make reasonable decisions. Learn to think for yourself. Showing my oldest how to graph #cases as a function of time, to show how it’s not linear. Explain the reason why we’re taking precautions now - avoiding large crowds- is to get in front of this exponential curve.. because its coming. Can’t have the hospitals over loaded and some there’s not that many ventilators.

I’ve been tracking this since the beginning. Predicting we’re be in lock down mode in about a week and will probably last 7-8 weeks.. look at the patterns. This is what it shows. Not the end of the world, Just be prepared. The masses of people out there might lose their jobs and will be desperate.

7) bought a freezer at depot and stocked it with meat. Got the board games ready to play with the kids.

8) I told my wife back in December this will start to happen. Looked at me like I was crazy. Told me last night “MCT you were right all along”. Gave her a wink and smirk. Of course I was.

Time to separate the men from the boys... faggots. Don’t be a feelz faggot on Facebook. How you act now will remain with you for the long game. As a man, you owe it to your family to be prepared for this.

I might be a little different to most. I've spent the past decade as a doomer\prepper. Offgrid farm(available, I don't live there), 4-9 months of food depending on our level of eating. Did the bulk of our buying in Jan, but already had a quarter ton of grains\rice\sugar stored. Big vege patch, freezers packed with around a square meter of meat (bagged, and tightly packed). Spares of everything. My home gym is arriving in pieces this and last week.

Some thoughts:

Prebuy your protein. Whey and casein have a great shelf life. This will lessen your demands on family food and need for more freezer space.
5/3/1 can be adapted to a powerrack pretty easily.
Order in a few months worth of supps. In particular zinc, d3, C and multi's.
Breakfast cereal has a need for milk. Long life milk demands by family will be high. Even rationed 100 liters for us is hard to make work. We also bought a dozen bags of powdered milk. No reason to hold back on the whey shakes just the walk I like them now.
You'll get low on fruits\veg. Consider things like bottled lemon juice.
Eggs can be frozen. I do two per sandwich bag. They pack well in the freezer. You can also freeze cheese, shredded parmo freezes well.
Get a big tub and lot of bleach. You can still online order most food and have it delivered after shutin. Then just dunk it in to the bleach solution. You can probably do this with many fruits and vegetables as well so long as you discard the exterior (think pumpkin, bananas, etc).
Morman websites have great info on long life foods.
If your locale is sold out of rice, consider calling a bulk reseller and buying some 25kg bags. It'll be cheaper.
If you are getting concerned about going shopping looking around for a 24h place and go between 2 and 5 am. I didn't need to but we often shopped before or after 7am in the past few weeks as we topped off. The packers are all in there restocking shelves in the late evening, so you probably won't have toilet paper issues.
Don't focus just on staples. Make sure you have a mountain of curry paste, coconut milk and cream and various whole spices. They last for years and years whole, just pound them down when needed after a quick dry roast.
The rule I gave my wife was if it'll last 6-12 months, just buy too many, no matter whether it's floor cleaner, toothpaste or passata.
Don't forget to feed the dog.
You might want to assess your ability to run a vege patch. Minimally I would look at quick growing greens. Salad\spinich\etc. Frozen is just not the same and you want your family as fit as possible when we all inevitably have to rejoin society.
Stockpile cash and bank balances and stop paying bills where you can get away with it. There will be load of 'emergency measures' rolled out, from freezing of mortgages and loans to the ability to 'just pay later' with no payment penalties.
If you have stockpiled right, you will probably need more storage racks or tables. Consider this now.

The supermarkets will be packed with stock pretty soon. Maybe 4 weeks, because most of the population wont want to go there, so, IMO the problem will be less to do with supply chain and more to do with massively fluctuating demand. This is a different kind of disaster.

For me at least, all my planning\leadership just paid off.We're all going to get this, but what we really want to do is choose exactly when we consider the local medical system to be able to handle our needs. That's the point of locking yourselves away, so you can choose.

Small B-Class Motorhome. Full of water, Propane and fuel. Pantry stocked and full fresh water tank and supplies. The "escape-mobile" is always ready anyway. Just a habit, like always taking my keys and wallet every time I go outside.

My barn is always ready for a storm. Your planning for the unexpected should be part of your everyday life.

Something I never shared is I am intrigued by homesteading. That's the non-obsessive term for prepping. I have a beehive and chickens. Nothing crazy but enough for me and my family. I also currently have 100 bars of soap and shampoo bars curing in a rack that I made over the past three weeks out of tallow, olive oil and castor oil. I stocked the fridge up with meat and got the wife a month's worth of baking supplies.

The entrepreneur in me couldn't resist making a couple bucks in all of this either. I made about another 50 bars of soap and threw some tea tree oil in them. All the wives of my buddies and the soccer moms of the kids I coach bought them all at 7 bucks a bar. I make these things for pennies. Side note fellas, EVERY. SINGLE. WIFE. all made a comment about how amazing it was I knew how to make soap and how their husband could never do that. Its not about making soap, it was about being prepped.

My main concern in this is the financial fallout and my mother and in-laws, particularly my father in law. He is recovering from a broken back and laid up.

I'll start. I personally have stocked up on non-perishables for not just my immediate family but also my in-laws given their age and location. Water, canned goods, toilet paper, food for lunches, breakfast food, etc. I'd say I've got 3 weeks worth. Also got some of the dried food which you can't find anymore. I've packed bug-out bags for trips to the hospital. I've also restocked supplies for over the counter medicine and anti-diarrhea medicine to treat symptoms. I fully expect that one of my family members will get the coronavirus for certain reasons, so I've went a bit further in planning for that to happen, and have materials like gloves, masks, etc for in-house treatment.

Hand sanitizer is coming but it will be a while (a month in theory). I have enough to last until then. Stocked up on soap as there isn't any liquid soap around.

I've also reached out to my neighbors for additional plans and assistance for them if it comes down to that.

I'm prepared to "bug-in" as it were, for quite some time. Work so far is fine, having to work from home but that's no big deal. I expect schools to close, and I have a plan for the kids in case of that.

Unlike others that I know, I've been tracking this for a while and taking it seriously. I'm as reasonably prepared as I can be.

Don't forget your 4 B's - beans, bullets, bandages, and bullion.

Be prepared for short term rolling supply chain disruptions amplified by general stupidity and panic buying.

I've loaded up on slugs for the shotty. Not against shooting a deer or turkey out of season to keep food on the table, if needed.
Sold all stocks with any amount of profit a few weeks ago & hoarding cash in my Roth account to start buying when the bloodbath on the market is over. Holding the rest of my stocks through the storm.
Cancelled spring break vacation.
Continuing a slow and steady stock up of canned goods and meat for the freezer.
Looking forward to a mandatory minimum 2 week at-home vacation.

I hope all of you and your families don't get hit with the worst case scenario of this thing. Statistically most of us will be ok, barring a resaturation/unforeseen mutation in the virus, but wishing you all well all the same.

The people who have only recently begun to prepare are the ones who are going to be fucked.

My in-laws are at risk and live in a busy apartment building, so I reached out to Rambo FIL and told them they need to come stay with us for the next two weeks. We can cook for everyone at once - I estimate two months worth of pantry supplies and meat - and my MIL can help with childcare while my daughter’s daycare is shutdown. Wife, FIL, and I can all work from home and the government hasn’t stopped buying hardware and software as of yet.

Plenty of gasoline, propane, toiletries, and at least a cord of wood in the backyard. I’m slowly increasing the stockpiles every day. We’re far enough from our neighbors that we can spend plenty of time outside without running into anyone, which is a huge reason why I wanted to buy this house a year ago.

CrossFit is closed, but the equipment I’ve put together in the garage will be enough to keep the wife and I in good shape until they start back up again. Taking my brand new road bike out to get out of the house, keep my sanity, and start to lean out from all this bulk I’ve put on over the past few months.

Finances are in great shape; planning to ride the market down and back up again over the next two decades. Our mortgage refinance closes next month - 30 year fixed rate at 3.625%. We’re going to save about $150K over the life of the loan.

All of this is much smoother sailing because of the planning I’ve done over the past year.

If you've got the money and have someone super young or old, a CPAP machine like those used to treat sleep apnea might be a good idea.

Since the pneumonia stage can't be treated by current antibiotics, the next best thing is positive air pressure to help promote oxygen saturation. This would be combined with the usual treatment for fever when it comes. Then you just wait for the body to fight it off naturally.

Besides getting the regular food (15 days worth) plus some, i got some extras:

10lbs bag of rice

10lb bag of beans

5lb of flour

5lb Hot cakes mix

2 Bottles cooking oil Extra cleaning supplies Canned food 4 5 gallon jugs of water, rotating them 3 Propane tanks' Filled up water tanks at my business 1500 Gallons worth Stored 5 Buckets of tap water on the house.

Tested my power inverters 5kw 3kw 500w, and a 1kw solar system i had in storage. Put extra gas on back up truck (F250), filling up tank on my car Change some pesos (mxn) to USD.

This extra supplies should help a lot in case SHTF and if not it will get used in regular life.

Also been downloading music, movies and e-books, i read in some forums that entertainment becomes gold in a bug in situation.

You can survive 3 days without water.

You can survive 3 weeks without food. (Maybe more if you’re a fatass, maybe less if you’re below 10% body fat.)

Have alternate sources of those two and everything else is about how comfortable you want to be. Water filters and purification tablets are a must. Same with freeze dried food (as a last resort).

UVC light and alcohol to revitalise p95 masks. Will only need those to go shopping. Lots of rubber gloves. Again you can spray those with neat alcohol before removing then use your hand wash to remove any nasties that might have fallen off the gloves.

Living in a caravan we plan to hole up some place off the beaten track near a small town or village (for supplies) and just keep our heads down. Can move around a bit so the natives don't get to know us too well.

Might get a job on a remote cattle property. That part of the economy is still working well and that won't change.

Still hard to convince my wife not to eat the emergency rations. She still can't get her head around the fact we won't be able to just pop down to the store if we run out of stuff.

Bill Gates did an AMA on r/coronavirus today. Fascinating stuff, as is his Ted Talk on pandemics also covered in the Netflix documentary he did last year.

We're looking at 8-12 weeks of shutdown. If done correctly, that will stem the spread, at least in rich countries.

Third world will be anybody's guess.

My daughter had the corona and it was nothing more than a bad virus to her.

This is killing the elderly and those with preexisting conditions. Just try to protect those groups. I don’t think this is going to be as bad as the the bird flu, which killed 14k. The caught this one early in the US.

So I’m not stocking up on anything. The current administration seems to have a great plan for this

The worst thing people can do is panic. The panic would be much worse than the virus effects

Well, now that I'm not quarantined any more I'm making sure I stay stocked up on frozen and non-perishable foods. The most important "preps" were making plans with work to make sure I still got was productive off-site, and keeping my family from panicking.

I'm salaried and my work is mostly computer based, so quarantine was NBD for me. If you're a shift worker or in a service industry, now is a great time to be thinking about a side gig.

As far as food, I actually saw this coming and had us stocked up fairly well before we got locked down. Also, food/grocery delivery services haven't stopped in my area yet so it was easy enough to call in anything that was missing.

I already had n95 masks left over from my home remodel last year, so we were able to take proper precautions when leaving the house (to get tested, for example). Not even sure if you can get masks right now, but do keep that in mind: masks probably won't prevent you from getting covid, unless you are super paranoid and wearing goggles too. They will help you not get others sick if you are infected. You may or may not care about that but I'd prefer not to kill someone's gamgam.

If you end up being one of the first cases in the area, you will have the media up your ass. Ask how I know. Wearing masks when you go out is helpful if you think they're following up on you. You don't want to have an unflattering story written because you didn't follow isolation rules. A suspected covid case walking around with no mask makes for a hot news story.

If you or your family needs OTC meds or has dietary restrictions, now is a good time to grab a month or two supply before the panic buyers clean out whatever it is you need.

And finally, yeah, I have a healthy stock of guns and ammo. I didn't get it in response to the pandemic, but if I didn't have at least a few boxes of ammo hanging around I'd consider it. People are panicking, and that leads to some feral behavior. My city has some fucking shady areas, one within a couple miles of my neighborhood. Less people on the streets means more opportunity for vehicle break-ins and other sketchy shit.

Don't buy two hundred rolls of toilet paper. You don't need it. You're just fucking with the supply chain and causing panic.

Still banging plates and not spending more than $3 on coffee
Still playing drums with my band.

Still don’t really gaf about stuff outside of these core things.

That’s it. The only thing that might change is maybe a new hobby or new band to jam with, promotion at work . That’s about it.

Im sitting in PHL and just made it back from Europe and haven’t done jack shit so will likely run out of food and TP. I made sure all the American on my team arranged flights back either today or tomorrow (a few planned to stay through next week).

I got about a week of frozen meals still in the freezer.

I threw my stbx a bone and warned her to go stock up this past Monday. Despite her questioning it - she did so the kids will be covered. And for her to prepare for kids out of school starting sometime next week.

I’ve told my daughter not to worry about this as she was concerned. That it is going to affect elderly people but we will all be fine.

Refilled all pharmacy medications and will pick up today.

I also went and hung out with a bunch of tourists in Dublin last night - including a “fuck the coronavirus” chant.
