Just came here to say that this isn't the end for you. I encourage you to sustain your will to fight and keep going. I'm no lawyer, but I cannot imagine that an individual who has since lost their job and has been diagnosed with a serious heart condition would be thrown in jail for unfaithful child support payments. Do yourself a favor and make sure everything gets documented so when you have your day in court you will have, what I believe to be, a viable defense.

One of the biggest components to MGTOW is the spirit not to give up in the face of adversity. There is no doubt that there is much on your plate, but know there are people here that are pulling for you to come out of this, at the very least, alive.

I too am am looking for work. No one will hire me because I'm older. If I had the skills to cross over with your field, I would work for you. I am still trying to keep my wife from abducting my children.

My child support is more than my income. I have no appeal.

It appears that we're on the losing edge of this thing.

I would suggest getting your affairs in order. Send your message to everyone you know, including the judges, the courts, the newspapers, every agency you can think of.

Make sure no one has any room for denying that they knew your problems and did nothing about it.

If they have blood on their hands, they need to suffer for that.

Don't give up. Call every men rights lawyer until you find someone willing to help pro bono. There must be a way to negotiate this given your health and the trouble the old PO caused finding employment. Turning to drink, while understandable (been there, done that more times than I care to count) clouds your vision and makes planning productively impossible.

There's got to be a way out for you. Think about it, this horrible fucked up situation, that occurred through no fault of your own, could be the catalyst for you to begin another productive and profitable chapter of your life. There are many stories of people who have lost it all and then rebuilt better and bigger than before. I'm saying this not to be Pollyanna, because doing this is unnatural and extremely difficult, especially with health problems. But the possibility of positive outcome, even if it's just a glimmer, is the pinpoint of light to walk towards. Your despair is utterly human, makes total sense and few could cope with your situation with any equanimity. You're at the path in your journey where your will alone can sustain you, regardless of your exhaustion and injury from the seeming endless blows. Find your will again and it can guide you. So now I am staring down the barrel of a very painful death in some shitty jail.

Had something similar happen to a friend. Long story short as I am at work, he started a door to door IT service. He targeted wealthier neighborhoods. When he first told me of it I cringed and felt my friends complete and utter desperation. Posted flyers. Went door to door with the flyers.

After a short time he was making bank. Turns out there are a TON of people in residential neighborhoods that need the most basic of help. His friendly disposition helped a lot. OP, just a cursory google search shows me that family court judges have the discretion to expunge protection orders. I think if you plead your case and kiss a lot of ass then you could show the order never needed to exist in the first place and that it’s holding you back from gainful employment. It’s different than in criminal court where you just have to fulfill some sort of program requirement as punishment and then your record is expunged but it is doable.

P.S. Don’t off yourself OP. Fight until you absolutely cannot fight any more, then keep fighting. Your ex doesn’t have the power to control your life. You do. Don’t relinquish that power either to any one or any entity. It’s not how many times you get knocked down. It’s how many times you stand back up and keep fighting.

Dude, put the protective order in your resume with a short explanation: ex wife applied for protective order to gain advantage in child support.

The manager will head off any HR objections. You just have to get it to the hiring managers attention so that HR doesn't stop the process.

As for child support, explain the whole situation to the judge. Tell them you wouldn't be in this situation if the order was removed. It is to your ex wife's advantage to rescind it, so she will.

I've given this advice to people before and it mostly works. Find a bar near a large company that the employees go to. Hang out there at happy hour and make friends with the people that work nearby. You don't have to drink while you are at the bar just hang out. Maybe let the staff know what you are doing you may actually be surprised as they will often help you out. Do some light shop talk with the employees so they know you know your stuff. If you don't seem desperate and don't expect miracles this should allow you to get your foot in the door somewhere in a couple of months at worst.

You will know when jail time is coming in advance so you can always just flee the country if it comes to that.

You've spoken with a dozen recruiters... WHAT?!? Only a dozen? Dude when you're an immigrant with very little verifiable employment, you need to talk to dozens and dozens of recruiters before you get a job. It took me 18 months to find a job, and when that one sucked I spent another 18 months to try and find a better one. I spoke with hundreds of people. I just a little tape in my head every time I was on the phone, until it worked.

Furthermore, you've held some pretty awesome jobs over the years. You made a ton of money and you didn't save enough? You didn't buy into crypto? Sounds to me like you could have done better for yourself.

So my advice to you is, get a job, save up, move abroad, start over. Don't wallow in self-pity. Other people have it worse. And stop paying child support!

I'm glad to see all the comments telling you not to do it. You have a lot to live for, Aaron, don't make a mistake that you can't come back from.

You sound like you're in a horrible mental state. Try jarring yourself out of that state by doing something different. Go somewhere new, see your kids, or do something with adrenaline involved (think motorcycle).

You are not going to prison if you're proactive and take care of this before it becomes a bigger problem. Going to the courthouse and explaining your situation should be enough. Worst case you find a lawyer for help.

Finding a new job is tough. I feel like the whole process is purposely made to make you feel worthless. I agree with others here, recruiters suck. Try applying to companies directly. Learn how to interview better. Job searching is kinda like dating learn how to be a PUA interviewer. There are a ton of tech jobs be willing to move or work in a position slightly different than what you used to.

Lastly I would say you matter. As one person said imagine you get a phone call right now about a new job. Everything changes right? The phone is going to ring. Don't throw everything away when your horizon is close and much better.

Hey Aaron, I'm really sorry to hear about your shitty situation. Please, please keep going, just for a while longer. You can end it any time, so please use everything you've got left to try to keep alive, a day at a time. I'm also in the tech industry and have been able to start and run my own successful tech/IT business. The great thing about owning your own business is that no one knows or cares what your background/education is, especially when your title is CEO. You'll probably be able to walk into these same types of organizations you previously had to enter through HR, only now you'll be a ridiculously overpriced consultant who's background is irrelevant, your experience, connections, and professional reputation is all the matters. I feel for you man. I don't know you, but I do care. I hope this works out. I'm in IT on the network side as well.

I can tell you, if I needed a storage guru and you told me all of that, I would hire you without a doubt. Being that 50% of marriages end in divorce, if you find the right new job and explain this up front, you'll get it.

If I were in your shoes, I would focus on smaller VARs and just be up front that when you went through your divorce your wife filed a charge against you, which is comon practice and false.

Another option, you probably know plently enough to be a sysadmin. Find a smaller shop that doesn't do background checks. It will be a big pay cut, but it will be decent.

Another option, start your own consulting practice. Contact some of your old contacts and let them know you'll manage their SAN. You'll be on call for emergiencies if they want for a monthly fee, etc. A good SAN guru is hard to find.

Also, why not sue her? You have clear damages from her wrongdoing. Try to find a lawyer who will sue for free on the basis the lawyer gets to keep 50% of the winnings.

My heart goes out to you. I don't doubt that every word of your story is true. However, please consider a few points before you completely lose hope:

My understanding is that most states only jail people who are behind in their child support for a very short time.

And as someone who has a serious heart problem, you should be able to spend those few days in the special medical unit of the jail. So hopefully not quite a death sentence.

Also, since you have a serious medical condition and have been working your entire life - and you are presumably in at least your late 40s or more likely 50s - you should be able to apply for and (eventually...) receive SSD.

If you get SSD, your minor child will receive approximately half of your monthly benefit amount in her name. Of course, that money will go to your ex, since she has custody, but many states will consider that monthly stipend as part of your child support payment.

And since your income has drastically declined (to say the least...), you should be able to get a modification to your child support order that significantly reduces your monthly obligation.

So...don't drink yourself into a suicide scenario just yet, my friend. Your options aren't perfect, but it appears you at least have some.

Terrible. The whole discussion of 'background checks' is one thing that concerns me. I've not heard it raised much in any MRA group, but really the whole point of 'background checks' is to be anti-male. It's like you commit some minor "crime" (that probably shouldn't be illegal anyway) and they take the rest of your life away from you! It's a disgrace!

I'd have thought though that working for a startup or doing contracting might be better options. I'd imagine they're less likely to run background checks in those scenarios, but I don't live in the US, which I know is a nightmare police state. Mind, if I was in a situation where I had an ex who kidnapped my child and forced me to pay child support I'd probably sell all my assets, convert it to bitcoin, consider murdering her and then doing a runner. I'd say skip the country even illegally if possible. But with that health condition you need to take care of that as well. Is there any possibility that you could get heart treatment in another country?

You say your business isn't picking up fast enough, is it infrastructure that's behind, or not getting enough clients?

If the latter, you might be able to leverage the network here to help drum up clients. /u/DangZagnut sounds like he has some pretty extensive corporate contacts, so he might be able to help you out.

You could also reach out to some of the YouTubers like TFM to help spread the word. At this point, it sounds like the biggest danger related to being dozed - having your career and life destroyed - has already occurred, so you might as well take off the shackles preventing you from fulling capitalizing on the network. At the very least, reveal your company name to a few users you think you can trust and who might be able to help.

You can also start an indiegogo to raise funds for either your startup or lawyers to help your case. This subreddit helped out that single father who needed help, I'm sure you could raise at least a little money.

Finally, I'd say reach out to the MRA community if you haven't already. They might also be able to help network you, or directly support you in some way or another.

Not sure what your plans are. Despite your pessimism, there are things you can do to turn your life around.

First of all, if you have had good credit rating, you should be able to borrow a good amount of money just based on your resume, and/or assets (if anything). I've heard people being able to get a loan on their Bachelor's degree alone. Alternatively, if your health permits, you could come up with a business plan to get a loan. Once you've got enough money to cover your child support, you can renew your passport and leave the country.

For people in IT, it's not hard to work from home doing freelance work. Upwork, etc. Seriously, relying on employers sucks. This is not the end. There are so many ways to make money these days.

Third, if you still want to be employed for some reason, you can contact people whom you've worked with/for in the past, like that recruiter. Chances are they might be hiring or they know someone who is, and given your extensive experience, they can probably vouch for your and not let the protection order get in the way.

Fourth, you can try applying independent of any recruitment agencies, go for small to medium sized companies that don't have stringent recruitment requirements or have background checks in place.

Fifth, if none of the above works and time's running out, see if you can borrow money from a friend or family member, and you might need to get a semi-skilled temp/part-time/casual job. Sales and telemarketing (& telephone surveys) are always hiring. But it's almost impossible that you can't keep doing what you love and earn decent money from freelance work.

Sixth, what about disability benefits/pensions? Early withdrawals from your 401K/IRA? Do you have a mortgage? You really need to talk to a banker/advisor to see what options you have (see above about loans).

These are just things off the top of my head. Lots of ways to survive. We, men, are survivors.
