Time and time again I see threads on here that basically blame the plight of sexless men on women being too picky and chasing men out there ‘league.’ And if women just stayed in their lane and settled down immediately after they turned 18 (never mind studies showing youth marriages have the highest divorce rates)with the first guy that shows interest in them, relationships between the genders would be bliss.

This removed thread by u/fwoketrash is one example of this narrative being pushed on here.

Basically it paints the picture that young men are dying to get married or settle down early while young women are rejecting marriage proposals left and right in favor sleeping around/chasing men out their league. It’s only when they get to 30 years old that women reluctantly ‘settle’ for a man in their ‘league’ who they resent for not being chad or stay bitter single cat ladies for the rest of their life. The question is, what is the evidence this is what happening?

I am young woman but I’ve been lurking this sub for a while, and I’ve noticed people who push this narrative seem rely on two things to support their hypothesis. One is the 2018 GSS survey results which showed more young men reporting being sexless then young women. People basically took that as undisputed proof that the 80/20 rule was true and that more young men were going sexless because of picky women or whatever. People have pointed out in the past that GSS survey results are based on a flawed methodology, but even social scientists who sincerely analyzed the GSS data said it did not show what blackpillers were pushing.

Furthermore, recent GSS data (which I had a thread until I accidentally deleted it cuz I’m an idiot) show sexlessness is falling among men and actually risen sharply among women since 2019, to the point where it has surpassed male sexlessness. So again how does this fit the narrative that women are sleeping with few men on a mass scale and refusing to date men in their league which is reason why men are sexless?

The second piece of evidence seems to be data from online dating, which includes the famous okcupid ‘study’ even though the same study actually showed the messaging distribution for women was more skewed by attractiveness then for men. Or tinder statistics which are flawed considering third party sources have noted that tinder has 80% male users or a lope sided gender ratio with some sources pegging it at high as 9-1.

Men outnumber women on Tinder by almost nine to one, while even “female-friendly” apps like Bumble have fewer than 20% of Bumble users, according to new research.

A recent study by Mobile Journey Marketing cloud provider Ogury reveals a massive gender imbalance amongst dating app users in various countries. This imbalance was greatest in Italy – where 91% of dating app users are male.

Look I don’t disagree there does seem to be an issue of rising sexlessness and singledom among young people. In fact I came across a recent article that talked about this (although keep in mind the government data it’s based off of only defines someone as being in a relationship if they are married or living with a partner), so I believe it is issue. But I think the narrative being pushed on here that women would rather sleep around then settle down in be in a relationship is not true based on any statistics I’ve seen nor has it been my experience in real life. People who have actually investigated the issue show there are multiple reasons why this trend is growing and things aren’t so black/white as it’s painted on here.

But I’m curious to see what you guys think?
