The thing that allows you to defend yourself is not what others say or even what laws are in place. It comes down to what you are willing to do for yourself and weather you are physically capable of carrying it out.

The rest is just the aftermath. I have decided that if I ever defend myself and end up in legal trouble as a result, it's still worth it to do so no matter what. If we don't defend ourselves, we could very likely end up dead or injured in a permanent way. I've heard it said that it's ultimately better to be judged by twelve than carried by six, and I agree with that sentiment.

It won't matter, especially if there's no witnesses. You go to jail.

This is actually really good advice for any physical assault by anyone. Self defense can be an iffy claim and you both may end up in jail. If instead you yell out "leave me alone, I don't want to fight you" and you don't touch the other person, you're in much better shape if the law gets involved.

Now, if you're genuinely in fear for your life, self defense is absolutely warranted. After all, it's not going to matter much if you're vindicated in your claims of self defense but you're dead.

It's pointless to have an argument with someone who's being as emotional as doctor Phil but my question would be where is the line in the sand? What if she took a butcher knife out and threatened to slice him, is he allowed to act then? The idea that a group of people shouldn't be held to a reasonable set of standards is disgusting but at the end of the day he's simply catering to his audience.

I can't stand this prick....I remember one time he brought the guys behind Bum Fights on. Now think what you will about Bum Fights, but he brought them onto his show. Play about 95% of a video package about Bum Fights, then stopped the video and kicked them off the stage without even talking to them. The only purpose of that was a power grab. Its your show, you flew them out to be on your show, you had to have previewed that video that your people made and then you had the audacity to act like you are offended, just to get a rise out of your punters.....GTFO

Dr Phil is absolutely right: Hitting out in anger is not the answer. Now if it's self defense and she's attacking you then you have the right to defend yourself. Dr Phil is what my parents used to call "the faux intellectual Jerry Springer" he is a horrible man who uses his "guests" as pawns so he can grab ratings and make money.

Most of what he says is fine. If anyone is in any situation involving violence, if, if, they have the option, the sensible thing to do is walk away. Certainly, in the case of a mugging, give them the phone. You can get a new one. It's not worth an eye, or your life.

In specifics, the validity of all this depends very much on the exact circumstances. If he was being smacked around the face and had the option to retreat and didn't, then he's an idiot, though that has nothing to do with anyone's gender. If he woke up to find her standing over him with an upraised knife, I think he's justified in more or less anything. Of course the reality will be that it's somewhere between those two extremes. The statement that there are absolutely no circumstances where male-on-female violence is justified is false, although obviously, we should all be doing what we can to avoid any violence whatsoever.

The other thing to say is that I would expect most people to go their whole lives without being presented with an unavoidable requirement to use violence. We really are rooting around in the statistical weeds here.

Perhaps the key here is that Phil says "in anger." Ideally, violence should never be used in anger; it should, to the best of our ability, be used solely in self defence and in full command of our emotions. My response would have been "I didn't do it in anger." The problem with saying that is that under many legal systems it is an admission you did it with cold calculation, which can contribute to an admission of guilt.

Why cantI post on this sub? it’s literally a pro mens rights post. It’s me talking a about how I can bench press more than 99.99 percent of women and how I have the right to do this. It’s a low key brag but it still seems humorous and relevant. There is a video attached is that in violation of the rules?
