I’ve been visiting here for a few months. I’ve seen feminist complaints about the misogyny on this subreddit ( and there is some ) but I feel like it’s mostly guys letting off steam. There’s way more anger and hurt than hate. I don’t like when they use the word “woman” because that means me too and I’m not out to get you. The few times I’ve seen something hateful it was downvoted and deleted pretty quickly. The comments sound hard, but I think that’s how men talk when they think it just them, so I take it with a grain salt.

There are plenty of subs where men have been bashed forever because someone is feeling salty about there boyfriend. A healthy amount of venting is sometimes necessary and I think some guys use this sub as that outlet.

Unlikely. Mens Rights Advocacy is the noun of the verb (Advocacy -> to advocate). Feminism is an ideology whose central premises (class warfare between men and women with men winning, shorthanded as "Patriarchy") are inherrently anti-male when you examine what needs to be true for it to accurately describe reality.

More concern trolling. This thread has no chance of becoming anything like that forum because the moderation style is entirely different. On that forum you can get banned just for posting here, on this forum you can be actively against men's rights, quote false feminist statistics, and troll all day without getting censored or banned.

With the free speech focused moderation, is there going to be some venting? Sure. Is this place by and large about 'being mean to women'? Absolutely not. Most posts are about issues men have, personal stories about mistreatment, and pointing out double standards in society. You can't fix any problems if you don't talk about them. You also have to keep in how people view things varies tremendously. So many people now view actual equality with misogyny.

Do I sometimes wish the forum were moderated a little differently? Sure. I don't think we need 500 different threads on abortion, and I've seen several instances of someone just hurling insult after vitriol insult at people who disagree with them even though the person disagreeing is doing so logically and respectfully not sinking to their level. But having a free speech space is a necessity in society. One can always start their own forum or try another one, but I think most that are moderated in the way you suggest will slowly devolve into just another feminist mouth piece under the guise of men's rights just like menslib.

I think it would be really cool if some Hardline feminists had an honest and open discussion with people from this sub. Like an actual healthy conversation. I don't like how often I see anger leading the way in this sub. Its fine to be angry, the way men are marginalized is infuriating, but we need to be careful to not let anger dictate our political positions or dominate our rhetoric.

The absolute best way to win our political battles is with calm and consistent appeals to fairness. Every single time we get angry, we look like what our enemies portray us as. We need to compromise, concede points that aren't important to us, and never turn the discussion into a "men vs women" argument. They have the dogma and the cultural zeitgeist on their side. People automatically side with women if that's where the debate goes.

A gentle reminder- this past week has taken rights away for women that we've had since birth. My health can be in danger from an unplanned pregnancy, my career effected, my family impacted etc.

We need men to vote blue & to speak out in support of the women in your life. If you needed proof that men generally have more autonomy and choice than women here it is.

Agreed. Some of the posts are starting to reek of strong anti-women rhetoric as opposed to a balanced discussion concerning men's rights. Which is slowly turning this sub into a toxic pit, that is asking to be banned.

The best respresentation to the movement, in my opinion, has always been that we remain logical and fair concerning our ideals. We cant allow ourselves to be confused for sexists and bigots.

I've also always felt that men's rights is meant to be a representation of egalitarianism and a counter response to the anti-men hate speech, not a mirrored version of feminism.

I think this sub is pretty far from it, but it is closer than it was a few years ago, and I suspect it will eventually be much closer as other more radical subs are banned.

I think community awareness is very important, but that the key point is lots of mods and them being very strict. So far I have had the perception that they hardly act if there is no report, and that is a problem because "hate" are usually reported to reddit and not to the sub, which could eventually cause the ban. This is also very relevant to counter brigades.

I think a huge step could be acknowledging womens issues as well as our own, as major limiting factors of other movements is an echo chamber that results in extremists and just unempathetic people. Although obviously this sub should still focus on mens issues, its what its made for.

I think both subs are pretty terrible to be honest. A lot of people here that clearly hate women, a lot of people there that clearly hate men. They upvote clearly fake stories, and generalize men, this sub upvotes blatant right wing propaganda, and generalizes women. But at least I can make comments like this here and not get banned (yet). Whereas I got banned from twox with very mild and polite comments that slightly go against the grain.

We should SERIOUSLY consider banning people who are not helpful to the cause, and yes I know that's the same schema feminists use with their in-group/out-group dynamics, but they work and they are not so scrupulous about using them.
