I saw this discussed on another (larger main page) sub and the comments were VILE.

Scrotes were furious because they saw this as a way Tinder will be even more "unfair" for them, because OLD is already soooo hard for them. Yes, they feel victimized that they don't have easy access to sex.

They were also mad that Tinder was addressing a problem women have and not doing anything about their problems (ex - why doesn't tinder weed out the onlyfans "whores" instead). Yes, they were claiming that sex workers / bots on the platform were a more urgent problem than sex offenders. 🤡🤡🤡

Social credit systems are problematic for a couple of reasons. Look at China. Is that how you want to live? And they're only getting started. Technology is a tool for estabilshing and maintaining power.

If you think this is going to benefit women you are gravely mistaken. If you think tinder cares about womens safety because of this you are naive.

I don't see it as a step in the right direction. If tinder cared about women there would be plenty of other ways to implement technical solutions without compromising human rights and privacy. It's not about "giving power to the victims of sexual assault (women) and taking from teir attackers (men)". This gives tinder the choice to blame women for their own rape, delegating their responsibiliy. Do they purge sex offenders from their plattform? How about reports? Do they take it seriously? If you were to design a dating/hookup app, who do you get money for and for what reasons? It's men who are willing to pay for women aka pussy. It's desperate or lonely women who put with it. Tinder sees women as doorbusters for men. Make no earthly mistake, they won't do anything to actually help women because it would mean to engage in financial self-sabotage.

Does anyone have any actual information about this? Like, what does a background check on Tinder include? I would never give permission for an app like Tinder to have access to ANY of my information other than what I manually input (yes I know the apps terms and conditions probably have some shady stuff in there but you know what I mean). I'm not letting anyone verify my employer, address, criminal history, etc. And I can't see Tinder even doing this because the privacy issue would be a nightmare (it's not just gathering, you're responsible for managing and protecting that information too which is expensive to do properly).

I keep hearing about "background checks" but I still have no clue what that actually means in this context.........

I'm all for doing background checks on dudes before meeting them, but social credit systems are Orwellian and terrifying. Do you really want to live in a world where the government and social credit corporations track everything you say and do and you can be blacklisted for supporting/criticizing the wrong politician or government policy?

People say, "Well if it makes the world safer, it's worth it." But China's social credit system is has been up since 2009 and they're actively running deathcamps for Muslims and Christians. No on speaks out against because guess what happens to your social credit score if you do. Scary.
