So, I'll admit, a lot of this post is going to be extremely anecdotal and based on personal experiences that have recently caused me to put two and two together regarding a lot of women's sentiments on this subreddit (and online as a whole) about how uncomfortable it is to be approached by men, and while I don't think my experience fully carries over in all regards, I think what I have to say could very well illuminate things for both the men and the women on this sub, and maybe light the path for some of the more...maladjusted guys here to start approaching women in a classy and respectful manner. So, I live in a country that is economically challenged to say the least, not to bash on this place or the people because the issues that have led to our current predicament are extremely complex and multifaceted and that's not what this post is about, furthermore, of all the developing countries one could live in, this one is pretty good compared to most others.

The main point is, compared to the general population here at least, my family is fortunate enough to be somewhere near middle class (or, more specifically, lower middle class. There's a lot of money drama with my family I could get into that would further explain my situation, but again, that is beside the point), and while I am very thankful for the education, opportunities and privileges I've been given, I can't deny that showcasing even the slightest sign of wealth here draws people out of the woodwork to ask for shit. Now, I'm not saying there aren't female beggars here too, trust me, there are, but for the most part while the women and children who beg range from pitiful to annoying, easily my worst experiences have been with men approaching me looking to ask for money.

I'll start off with the more innocuous examples that still grind my gears, if you're going out for a walk to buy something or get a pick me up at your local gas station, there will be some that call out to you, often trying to act "friendly" and asking you random questions which seem "innocent" but will always set off anxiety inside of you. And honestly, after facing this a few times, I definitely see why women talk about wanting to avoid men and that being approached can give you anxiety, when some random local dude just starts asking where I live or if we can be friends or what I'm doing, I just want to leave but sometimes I reply or lie on autopilot because it's scary to think these guys might blow up and get angry or do something crazy if you tell them off or something. One time while I was walking home from the gym, some random old dude called out to me and I was just so tired and pissed off that I told him I don't have money, and he went on some rant about how I shouldn't assume people who talk to me want money and that he's an honest person and yadda yadda yadda...before asking me "but do you have money?" before I told him no and he fucked off.

To be honest, that interaction was so funny that I almost wanted to laugh out loud at the time that he did that, but it also showcases one thing that consistently comes up when women state why they hate being approached, that men who do make approaches are incredibly dishonest and have absolutely no sense of subtlety and manners. The guy who angrily ranted at me after getting told off is basically an equivalent of the kind of assholes who go crazy saying the women who reject them are "ugly bitches anyway", and he's just as bad for the same reason, these people are incredibly dishonest about their desires and because they are dishonest, there is no way to feel safe around them because they have the potential to take advantage of you whenever so long as you even give them a chance. Why would you talk to some random dude you don't know if you're not looking for money?

We all know it, you know it, and yet your ego is so blown up you can't just accept it. In the same way, guys who are rejected by women they find attractive protect their fragile egos by going "she's ugly anyway", like, come on, you're not fooling anyone, if you weren't attracted to her you wouldn't approach her, stop lying to everyone, it makes you look gross and incredibly crass for nothing but the sake of licking your wounds and it showcases you are self centered instead of a good mate. When it comes to the factor of dishonesty, the approaches can be just as inane, I've heard people spin me these epic tales of woe that are so goddamn unbelievable that I can only nod and smile before slipping them a few coins because they're practically talking me to death, and while these types are the least scary, they are also the most annoying by far.

Pushing further on this, the kind of guys who have approached me and or my family also have another commonality, they are absurdly, obscenely pushy. Like, to an actually insane level where I have sometimes felt scared despite usually being bigger and/or fitter than these people. At traffic lights there are usually hawkers who are selling all types of little things like snacks, sponges, yadda yadda, basically any simple little thing you might want or need at home, but among these types are also beggars and windshield wipers that are the absolute bane of my existence. These types will practically push themselves onto the car of someone they think has money, wipe their windshield without asking, and THEN beg incessantly for money with the assumption you will take pity on them because they already did something for you.

This is the equivalent of guys buying random chicks drinks and getting upset after they decline to go home with you...why are you upset? No one signed a contract saying your drink equals a responsibility to have sex with you, not only is it also dishonest, it's honestly disgusting and showcases you to be an unkind person who only sees favors as a way of personal gain and doesn't understand that forcing your "kindness" on someone can be just as unwelcome as forcing your insults on them too. This is nowhere near the limit of pushiness that people can reach, there's this one local kid that lives in my area that would basically constantly annoy my older brother before he went to college, and he is the epitome of "cannot take a hint", he used to constantly come over asking to see my brother for no reason at all, and while he rarely comes over now, he's just as annoying.

TL;DR: Women hate being approached because dense men often make approaches seem like a crazy beggar forcing themselves upon you and demanding money through all sorts of shady methods. In order to succeed, men must be more empathetic and self improve to get women.
