A while back, I was discussing dating issues and a woman showed me a post on the Ask Women sub about women's experiences being hit on by men. The idea was to show me a woman's perspective and help me realize that life is not so easy for a woman.

I read the comments, and yes there were many who posted stories about being harrassed by (usually much older) men. However, there were also many comments from older women talking about the attention they still receive from men at their age. It sounded like they were bragging about it, as if to say "I've still got it".

This is why to me, all these complaints from young women about men being pigs, men being sexual predators who are a threat to women, have an expiration date. And it comes at a point where they reach an age where they become invisible. By then, their thinking shifts. They start longing for the glory days of their youth, rather than thinking about their youth as a troubled time when she was under siege by creepy men.

That guy who she thought was a creepy bridge troll who hit her up and who she wished would crawl back under that bridge from where he came suddenly is remembered more fondly. Suddenly, he turns into the guy who could see how special she was. And when she's out and about, those rare cat calls she receives won't be as poorly received as it used to be.

It's like that post on the front page about the woman at the gym who farted on a guy to get him to leave her alone. Will she be passing gas on guys at the gym paying her attention in another 20 years? Probably not. Her butt hole will likely remain clenched at that point.

And make no mistake, these glory years that these women take for granted, where they spend that time chastising unattractive men for daring to look at them, are in fact fleeting. A decently attractive girl who turned me down around just 10 years ago looks absolutely horrendous now. Now what would happen between us? She likely says yes to dating me. But for me, it would be a resounding no.
