I think it would be great. I would think warmly about her every time I received the item. Doesn't matter if it was something simple, practical, or cheap.

I understand everyone is different. I'm thinking this woman really values that thoughtfulness and effort and that's completely fine. That's how she feels loved and I don't think anyone can talk her out of it.

But I think it's a bit crappy of her to not appreciate the initial effort and the ongoing expenditure for her. I'm fine with her thinking monthly manual effort is better but I don't like that she treats the subscription as a complete negative. It's not exactly what you want but it's still good, right?

No, I would not be upset at receiving a subscription for something I like, but I get why she's annoyed at the flower thing. If my wife got me a subscription to flowers I'd be a little annoyed.

Flowers are a very personal gift, typically reflecting what you think they would like and that you thought of her in that moment, and a monthly subscription to it indicates that you did not select these flowers for her.

However, she has a point about the flowers. I understand that flowers, in particular, are supposed to be an intimate gift. So, signing up for a service to automatically give your partner flowers does take away from the intimacy and thoughtfulness of it.

If it were something practical, I wouldn't care. A woman I'm dating rn got me YouTube Red for a year. It was a great gift.

However, I do very slightly see her point because in my mind flowers are about the sentimental moment, not about utility. Flowers rot, and will have to be thrown out eventually. It would be like getting a subscription for art to be delivered to my house, neat but not necessarily useful.

So to answer your question, I would not be upset for the listed things you provided, but all those are actually useful and somewhat thoughtful because she would know I could use them. If it was purely aesthetics, such as random art or something, I could see it being alittle impersonal, but it’s the thought that counts.

I can see why someone would initially be taken aback by that concept, but if you don't want to continue paying for it, you can just cancel it. You're essentially being gifted a free month to see if you like it.

I'd love to be gifted a flowers subscription. The problem with subscriptions as gifts is that you need to meet the recurring cost, and also buy new gifts as well. You can't be like that's all your future birthdays covered! I'd advise anyone against gifting subscriptions for that reason, but if you're on the receiving end it's a really good deal.

Isn't the point of offering flowers to a woman to show that you thought about her in that specific day ? A subscription would kill this purpose.

As for me, I don't care about receving gifts. So if you offer me something it's better to offer me something that I'd actually already like to have.

There are things I'd like to have but do not want to buy because im lazy or it's just not a rational way to spend my money, such as the new jersey of my team, that one video game that is releasing and kinda looks cool, or a new phone to replace my aging one, etc ....

In that aspect the high quality steak subscription would be the best gift ever ngl

Guys think more economically. Women think romantically.

Women probably don't want a subscription because that's offloading the effort of picking out flowers and bringing it to a third party company. Even if the flowers aren't expensive, a guy plucking wildflowers off a highway and gifting it to his woman is more romantic than spending money to pay someone else to get the best flowers in the world delivered.

Men think more economically. If they can pay less and get more bang for the buck thats a steal. A subscription would make them happy because in the end, value is value. They would also like something romantic like a hand knitted sweater, but if they get a Xbox Game Pass subscription instead that's also cool.

From a man's POV, personal feelings don't put the roof over the family's house, food on the table, sends kids to college. They have to be grounded on tangible things to build a future. Men have feelings too, but it's not as important as it is for women. In the wild, when a man gets emotional that was a dead man and a dead family.

But this is probably because where I live, everyone is accustomed to the fact that on “women’s” holidays, men give beautiful, thoughtful gifts to women.

Because that’s the problem here, not Netflix or food or even subscriptions. But specifically subscriptions for flowers.

Flowers are a lovely gift because someone had to actually go out of their way to look at a bunch of flowers, think of which flowers are best for their partner and got specifically those ones. It really is the thought that counts.

By turning it into an automated delivery, it ruins the present. You’re no longer thinking about them while buying them flowers, you’re just having flowers arrive at your doorstep every month.

To answer your question, would I specifically like a Netflix subscription, steak subscription, or beard razor subscription every month as a present? Sure, I would like that.

As someone who likes being bought flowers, I also would not like a flower subscription.

I personally wouldn't mind receiving a subscription but I also understand why it might feel wrong to receive a subscription for flowers because as far as I'm aware from observing the women around me the point of flowers is the thoughtfulness and the spontaneity. So receiving a monthly subscription for flowers would make it feel less thoughtful and spontaneous. It's automatising something that is supposed to be a nice surprise.
