I struggled in my teen years. In my 30's now liberal as ever.

I honestly believe if you're a college educated man who's average, or slightly below, in looks, your SMV will be a lot higher in a society void of a strong social welfare state.

It's not the "welfare state"(check out the high quality women that take part in that) what lowered the average RMV(not SMV), it's the advancement of women in the workplace and schooling. Many of the hurdles that kept women from working have gone away over the last several decades. SMV of people hasen't really changed over times, nor your lifetime.

Yes, but not in the way you might think. It has moved me to the center or maybe even left economically. I think the economy is becoming increasingly winner take all in favor of people who are smart in the same way the dating market is becoming increasingly winner take all in favor of people who are good looking. I was always academically and economically successful when I was younger (late teens to early twenties) and was a natural libertarian economically. However, I've become convinced that having these uneven hierarchies where people at the top accumulate resources/relationships rapidly while the bottom 80%-90% stagnate or maybe even get worse is utterly unsustainable and unfulfilling.

Why would dating affect political opinions? If I'm liberal, and believe in, say, regulations for the fishing industry, why would dating or anything affect that?

Women are what they are. Hasn't changed my political views one bit. I was a democratic socialist in college. Thirty years later still am.

The opposite has happened actually. Political views (not ones I believe in necessarily) have influenced my views on women and dating. I've applied ideas from socialism, class warfare and feminism to dating with a male-friendly perspective.

e.g. female social privilege and welfare, 20/80 rule, top % of men get everything while bottom 90% get nothing, equitable dating outcomes are good, male gender role expectations (of being stoic/confident/manly) perpetrated by women are harmful.

I was a liberal until two years ago, but I believed also that communism is not a good alternative, as it destroys the meritocracy. Nowadays, I consider myself as a libertarian. I have been struggling with establishing relationships with women during the last 6 years, despite liking some women, but that's completely my fault, cause I had chances that I wasted.

Well, the 3rd wave feminism was taking over the media the March 8th two years ago, getting overexposed of lies like "the salary gap is caused by discrimination to women" or "men have the violence in their ADN". The socialist party of my country, which I supported before, took over the Government months ago, and they were using public organism to do propaganda of themselves, like manipulating public-founded surveys in their favour.

That thing made me going a bit conservative, and I started seeing good things in a party that I considered "fascist" some months ago when I was still a liberal, but things like give public money to bullfighting backed me out of voting them.

Then, I discovered some libertarian influencers whose moral values matched with mine, and being critic with cultural (and economical) marxism and gender ideology while defending individual freedom, something in which I firmly believe

I can see where you are coming from. You aren't wrong. We took away men's place in the world by forcing men to work and pay for the things that women and children want. There is a very clear reallocation of wealth from men to women in our society, and whereas in the past, the reallocation occured at an individual level, from one man to one woman when they chose to get married, now society forces all men to pay for things that only women can enjoy.

I mean, you aren't crazy, its just weird that you think that your viewpoint changed because women rejected you. I've always had the belief that it's wrong to reallocate wealth from one group of people to another. I strongly believe that really taxes should only go towards running the country, and not towards providing benefits for individual groups of people. WOmen shouldn't be getting maternity leave paid for by the state, she should rely on her savings or her husbands income, single people without children shouldn't be paying to fund the educational system, that burden should be on the people who chose to have kids, People with cars should be paying to fix and clean roads, not for the transit system, and people who use the transit should be paying to maintain that, not to clean and use roads.

The way that we have it now, we are all paying for things that we, individually, don't use, but others use. And there's a lot of things that men are forced to pay for that men can't use, that only women can use, which means that society has basically made men nothing more than tax slaves being forced to pay for things they can't benefit from.

I’m the exact opposite of a lot of you. Realizing how bitter men get over not being able to fuck a woman and how inclined they are to want women’s autonomy lessened I became very liberal and sex positive.

I think from university to just life in general have changed my views on politics. Women just changed my mind on relationships and the waste of time and resources marriage and long term relationships are.

A lot of conservative messages is to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps rather than waiting for the government to bail you out. For people struggling, that's more motivating.

Can't say this affected me, personally, as I feel your politically leanings are much more affected by your community (or lack thereof)

I was always Conservative. Sure it got more real with time, and likely if I had got married young I would've been able to care less about it.

Also, Feminist ideals were pervasive in my early Conservative belief system (WAW). Those ideas caused me to struggle with women.

No, they were parallel but unconnected processes for me.

I tend towards the analytical state of being and as I became exposed to more history, economic theory, and political theory both academically and as a result of my post grad school curiosity, I became better able to reconcile the various theory with my observation of the world around me.

Same process with women.

If you keep trying to understand why, eventually you find that some models have a better fit with observed reality than others.

When I was young I was very much a liberal and a believer in democratic socialism, social welfare, tuition free universities etc. Then as I went through highschool/university and faced numerous rejections from women I built up a lot of bitterness and gradually my political views became a lot more libertarian.

This is called growing up, not related to women.

Young people are stupid politically as they have absolutely no real experiences in the world. This is why left wing loonies want to lower the voting age in the US to 16 (yes this has been suggested multiple times). As it is a more realistic voting age should be 30 when it comes to mental maturity. Its not politically practical but if you think you know what you are talking about in your 20's I have horrible news for you.

I only struggled with women for a short time, meeting my wife aged 22, and I've never looked back since (17 years). My politics have gone the opposite way to yours, though. As a young man, I was far more right-leaning, but over the years, I've come to see through the smoke and mirrors of conservatism. Where I live, capitalism shafts the majority of men and women equally.

No, I did attend a different university than my school, with people with lot of money, being exposed to these ideas bought me on the right. When I grow up personal choices were not a political point, and it was a better world for that.

Well, women tend to lean collectivist and men tend to lean individualist.

So in college when you were LARPing as a socialist you were doing it thinking it would get you pussy. Only it didn’t work because women are attracted to more headstrong individualistic men, not weak pushover sissies.

So consequently you became bitter when you got rejected for being a sissy, and naturally reverted to your individualistic default. But you read more into it which settled you into believing you’re a libertarian and that you got there by means of rejection by women.

I don’t see what a person’s individual relations with women have to do with political views. This sounds like you’re under the assumption that people who have poor relationships with women are correlated with a certain political orientation. There are plenty of liberal simps that can’t find a girlfriend because they’re either a doormat with no testicles or they’re not attractive. There are also plenty of conservative simps with the same problem, or a number of different problems including being raised by a single mother with little to no life experience under her belt.

This topic is more nuanced than “conservative = bad to/with women; liberal = good to/with women,” which always seems to be the underlying assumption in these sort of discussions.

I have a strong Libertarian streak too but I don't agree with the cause and effect. That is, I'm not a Libertarian because I believe that's the best system for run of the mill, college educated men, but because I believe in a lot of Libertarian ideas regardless of who it might apply to. This is true. But its also true that the general standard of living will be worse. A lot of women will treat you a lot better if you have a bit of money, but some people will also try to steal or rob small amounts of money from you. There will also be more visible signs of poverty around, like children sleeping on the streets.

I never really struggled with women. But, I did observe a lot about their nature and behavior from very early on (started to notice things in about Grade 5 or Grade 6 - my own sons started acting questions and pointing things out at this age too).

Of course, I don't Red Pill my own kids, but when they come home with truth they've learned on their own, it's heartwarming.

Good question op. Started our sorta Republican as a kid, but wasn’t really thinking for myself haha (because I was a stupid little kid). Then as a teen I delved into libertarian thought a lot; listened to hundreds of hours of Tom Woods. As an adult going to college, I was pretty open to other ideas (I still am to be honest). Disliked SJWs (I mean who doesn’t). Got my first GF, and early in our dating, she said, “Hey, I’m a feminist, but that doesn’t mean that I hate men.” I’m like, “lol ok. No problem. I also think women should receive more respect.”

But over time I realized that she hated capitalism, participated in victim olympics, and did in fact hate men. She was basically a low key SJW. Called herself demisexual, self diagnosed aspergers, hated capitalism, believed in the wage gap, etc. This became crystal clear after I broke up with her. Her friend even had the nerve to text me and said basically along the lines of, “See, this is why we hate men. Because you treat women like shit.”

It was utter bullshit because I had treated her very well. And she said I was some awful person just because I broke up with her. Then I realized why she had said all her exes where soooo awful. They probably weren’t that bad. She just paints a new picture after a breakup and then talks shit afterwards. She even burned my clothing, took pictures of the fire, and posted it on Facebook. I mean, dafuq?

So yeah. After that whole experience. I pretty much automatically don’t trust anyone who self identifies as a feminist. I think it’s a shitty movement full of hate and lies. It didn’t really change my views so much as closed off any openness I previously had.

I don't think it was strictly struggling with girls; that was part of a larger life experience of realizing that you owe literally nothing to anyone.

No, my political views changed over time because left wing ideas just never seemed to work in real life. Also, I recognized that too many of their ideas revolve around using government force to fuck over one group of people to advantage another.
